I don’t resell gaming but I do Sportscards. I still learn so much from this channel. Best thing I learned here was how to print label right on PWE as well as pack the envelope like a pro.
I agree, did orders myself for a while. But it got to the point of 8 hours of shipping a day, finally just hired out a part time worker. Well worth the money. We also have a full-time employee to help with the front, couldn't imagine running all of it by myself. Definitely hard giving someone that much trust / taking the hit for the first couple weeks to pay them. However, the increase in sales is well worth it. Also, Magic does need to figure something out. SO many players switching from magic to other TCG's, just bad products they are pumping out. Currently have two different distributors for magic, going to drop to one by end of year.
I live in North Jersey and if you ever want some free labor around a Pokemon set release I'd happily come and open some booster boxes and sort for you! I'm a small Pokemon card reseller so it would be great to get some real card shop experience and pick your brain on different things!
Interesting. I've compleated 200 orders now and nobody has claimed missing. However, the post office near me has started rejecting PWE's that don't have a non-machinable stamp on them. When I spoke with the post office they said they don't always return them to sender. Pretty fucked up but it's possible this is happening instead of people lying about cards not showing up.
I'm still a smaller seller on TCG with almost 200 sells. I've already have had 3 claims of orders not showing up. All three were from New York. I don't know if NY has a higher lost mail rate or what, but I thought it was odd haha. And it was like you said, on the cards between that 10-18 dollar range
Appreciate all the content as I consider getting into all this! From the buyer side, I've had about 6 of 45-50 packages go missing from TCG. Ironically, these have typically been in the $15-20 dollar range. One package that arrived after 8 weeks had been postmarked a day after I'd ordered it, but when I went to return the cards to the seller (my own loss on shipping) in the same packaging, new envelope USPS hassled me because the envelope was rigid and barely fit through the slot. I'm sure there are plenty of people scamming for free cards, but 1) the USPS really isn't as great in my experience as yours and 2) plenty of sellers are unrealistic with the number of cards they cram into a basic envelope and I think this tends to correlate with the number of cards in a $15-20 order. Just my two cents
Charge all your buyers for tracked shipping, and tell them up front. There can be no mistake at all then. Your time is valuable, your profit is even more valuable. Great vid.
@@LosDog yup. I get mail for my neighbors all the time, including packages, and they get mine too. Just the other day a neighbor came to my door with one of mine. Great video, I just started selling on TCG player this month and am curious how many orders won’t make it. I work at the post office for 26 years now, and pretty confident in the actual workings of the post office and getting the mail to people. That being said, I have a lot of orders currently in shipping limbo, so I’m eager to find out this info out.
Wow this video is definitely what I need to watch , all these losses makes me weary of selling on tcg player, I would love to do tracking only but it seems unlikely because everyone would do that then 😅
I bought a $9 card about 4 weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived. I mentioned it to the seller and its a crummy feeling knowing they don't believe you.
I would have just put the card sorter in the back room of your store and then sound proofed it so it didn’t disrupt retail. That would have been so much more cost effectiveness and allowed you to do both at the same time.
lol crazy thing is my experience is the opposite. never had an issue with a buyer on TCGPlayer saying they didn't receive a larger PWE order... on eBay, if for some reason I need to PWE because the standard envelope isn't working, like 75% of the time so far, buyer has come back and said they didn't receive the item, which i know is total BS. ebay buyers are so spoiled.
You have a lot on your plate. Hopefully you get the help you need with same work ethic. If only you were in SoCal...I'd apply. Keep up the content. You may need a go-pro soon
Great content, I live in Mexico, question, why orders less than 4 dollars are not tracked? I know is a thing from the post office but should not that be automated and give you a tracking number? Or they just doit to charge you more for that service?
Now that eBay owns tcgplayer they will add the ability to buy shipping through tcgplayer within the year. They’ll be able to negotiate a better price for themselves with the post office and the profits they get from fees will explode.
I love the story of the funkos. Person buy a case. Pulls the grail. Then returns it to amazon. Amazon charges you a restocking free and then disposes it. The customer is not always right.... They do and will screw over the store to get their "grail" at the expenses of 11 other funkos that are trashed.
You used to be able to add tracking to a large envelope and it was like $2, now you can only get tracking on a package and those start at $5.20. It sucks.
Never just take the loss. I might just be a petty asshole but as someone who has sold online for years I report EVERY claim of items not received as mail fraud. you wont get your money or product back but if they are stupid enough to keep stealing they will get prosecuted.
