Lately I've just felt so lost, been getting drunk because I feel so depressed and mistreated/ used by people. Been doing things I'm not proud of which is pushing people away from me. When he says "Changes come, keep your dignity" it reminds me that I am stronger than I give myself credit for and the world cannot destroy that.
You got this! I went through something very similar. Find that thing you love to do and focus on that, especially if it's something good that helps others. You'll find meaning in helping others and soon you'll be surrounded by those you've helped.
I drank and abused drugs for 25 years, it doesn't help the way you feel, it makes it worse. Alcohol is worse than any drug I've used and I've used most.
Its just a broken heart son, this pain will pass away. That verse alone got me through some of the roughest times in my life. It's so true. The pain always fades with time
that's what I always thought "it's just a broken heart, this pain will pass away" BEFORE I knew this song But I like it, even when I'm not a man ^^ I'm just a very proud woman, which prefers to have a broken heart than an asshole boyfriend. :)
This song has gotten me through one or two of the darkest patches in my life, but the pain never dies, only weakens. Someday the wrong news, or a photo, or even the mention of ...you know who... might hit you and tear you open and leave you just as raw as before.
It probably will happen, and then you have a choice: pop some prozac and spend your life in a numb, mindless haze, or "Suck it up, son o' mine", your pain is meaningless, something better this way comes (and I'm a pessimist.) There's always a third choice, but those who opt for oblivion lose my sympathy and respect the moment they choose to pass from this world. (Btw, I'm referring to one of those two darkest patches.)
As a musician, student, artist, and Ph.D in music - I've listened, analyzed, performed and studied tens of thousands of hours music from almost every culture and genre over centuries. That said, MJK is a brilliantly understated and overstated first rate musical and poetic genius! My opinion comes from recognizing that he and his bands: Tool, pusicfer, and Perfect Circle...combine a multitude of genres in music that span decades. Just my observation.
I have listen to this song since 9 this morning and literally have not stopped listening to it and it is now 4 in the afternoon. That seriously tells you something.
This song continues to get me through dropping my only son off to college... I can't believe 18 years went by that fast. I can't stop thinking about it. This song gets me through it
I have recently found out im going to be a dad, which for me means a total life change so i find alot of these lyrics to be appropriate and reasuring, yet other parts ring true for other parts of my life, its an amazing song because you can generally apply the message to all of lifes hurdles, junctions and dead ends. Maynard will go down as a legend for a very very long time
thats what i needed to hear! but it seems impossible sometimes...like when i was waking up today from such cruel heartbreaking dream i literally woke up crying...but im taking the high road today, keeping the ghosts of past in the dust!!
No other song than this gem touches me so much at the moment. Glad i found this again after years. I've been living together with my best friend for a year and todey he moved out. During that year i separated with my and started stydying to become a nurse. My friend found his future wife (prolly) and graduated from nursing school. We shared everything in our life and become more than just best friends. He is morelike a brother to me that i never had. Now i'm lost but this pain will pass away!
Best comment ever dude, i mean i broke up with my 6 years ex girlfriend last weekend. I never cry twice for the same woman, this is a code i´ve always had for my life.. and hell i just forgot everything about her... i mean i dunno why people suffer so much in their relationships, you just got to take whatever is good for you and say goodbye to whatever is not... i mean i loved her, but im not going to spend my time crying about ONE ONLY WOMAN when you have a whole world ahead of you
ITS JUST A BROKEN HEART SON, THIS PAIN WILL PASS AWAY. Changes come, keep your dignity. Take the high road, take it like a man! This is everything we should know about life.
That from the "END OF WATCH" movie soundtrack - one of the BEST musical compilations for the "big screen" I've ever heard. AWESOME!... Big thanks for uploading!
6 beers in and I don't really drink and my soul brought me here for a reason. I have a son on the way and all I want to do is give him the best possible life possible. To much evil in the world. One love
No, living homeless when you be 8 years old, your mother takes heroin and you must slap her when she has no drugs. Your father is an alcoholic pimp and since your 5th birthday you must take weapons under your clothes over the border. Your mom died on an overdose when you are 12 years old while you having Hepatitis C. Your Grandmom is addicted to medicine and everyone important you know died before you are 25 years old. Since the 5th class you having no schoolbooks and noone cares about your life. Then you get your degree and going studying and take it like a man. This is the live and you doubt that there´s more than this, more than pain and keep up, going your way. Thats the definition of being a man
I got my ex-fiancee into Puscifer. We bonded over Maynard's music. She cheated and left me. It's been over a year and I'm still passing that kidney stone, hoping this broken hearted pain will pass away soon.
@@Ervinabrahamian not great. I met another girl and fell in love with her. She was the best thing to ever happen to me. She passed in 2022 from ovarian cancer.
@LeroOfTheKodiak I'm so sorry to hear that. I wish I could hug you brother, it seems like life is really being unfair to you. I'm a firm believer in balance and I have a feeling life will be fair to you and then some soon. I hope it happens sooner than later. I'm really sorry for your loss. Keep your head up my friend, don't give up.
@AAAbstractJack The way that Maynard speaks through Tool, and the way it is organized currently through 10,000 days, I would imagine he, as well as the rest of the band have delved into music that dates centuries, especially the tribal drum beats by the end of the album. As well as Maynards reach into simple ancient concepts about life in general. Truly everything that Maynard and his bands produce push far beyond just making good music.
Right after they make entry where all the people were trapped in the house, and they get in the unit. Around 54 and a half minutes into the movie. Your welcome.
@AAAbstractJack >>> 2) "Maynard's reach into simple ancient concepts" I feel this is an understatement - yes he touches on classic archetypes, but as you mentioned he (and his bands) push these ideals into our contemporary culture thus making these "concepts about life in general" more relevant to our time and pathos. As a result Tool, puscifer and A Perfect Circle produce music that is truly important in the present.
@rei1ruben Actually, jrns2003 got it right. "Momma said like the rain, this too shall pass. Like a kidney stone, this too shall pass." It just makes sense...
think this is a song from the perspective of mother nature, singing it to humanity, we need to take what we've done to nature like a man and deal with it without losing our minds, just a guest
I wish it had one. There's really nothing like what Maynard produces, and I've been searching since I was 12. Something about this asshole is just magical.
I've been crossing some pretty tough boundaries lately with this song, I've managed to play the guitar chords on a 4 string bass in standard tuning, and they are simple chords, but SOOOO Incredibly deep, and the bass just makes them so much darker.
If you watched this video, and allegedly you have, it's highly likely that you know Maynards earlier work with TOOL circa 1991. He has bestowed upon us a "tool" to help with these existential quagmires. shove it in your shadow, quit picking emotional scabs, pull it back out and throw it away.

I hope you're feeling better now

Hope you've been making it through the pandemic okay.
Hope you're feeling better. First thing you need to do is cut back on the drinking, it's 100000% making your mentality worse. Take it from a survivor
Its just a broken heart son, this pain will pass away. That verse alone got me through some of the roughest times in my life. It's so true. The pain always fades with time
I play this song every time I think about calling her. Stay stong friend
Joshua Warthen And you as well!

Maynard's voice is utter perfection.

thats what i needed to hear! but it seems impossible sometimes...like when i was waking up today from such cruel heartbreaking dream i literally woke up crying...but im taking the high road today, keeping the ghosts of past in the dust!!
It’s amazing that 17 years later this song still hits me like the first time I heard it.

So how did it go?
Isn't it so beautiful how much this song means to all of us? 😊
thank you. thank you so much for this song
I really can't get this song out of my head. Its so good! Maynard is such a brilliant song writer.
ITS JUST A BROKEN HEART SON, THIS PAIN WILL PASS AWAY.
Changes come, keep your dignity. Take the high road, take it like a man!
This is everything we should know about life.
Puscifer has the sexiest songs.
many kings wore crowns...Maynard wears a cowboy hat.
And wigs
I cried when I heard this.
Same here
MJK has a way of opening up your soul and pulling your heart strings.
It's a beautiful thing!
That from the "END OF WATCH" movie soundtrack - one of the BEST musical compilations for the "big screen" I've ever heard. AWESOME!... Big thanks for uploading!
Sent this to my son. Love the beat, the lyrics, the soul! thank you!
I absolutely love this. And at this time in my sons life, he needs to hear this. Tahnkyou Maynard, you have a song for every reason, for every season.
The melody and vibe of this song HITS just right
You hang in there brother. Been there.
This song reaches into the depths of my soul.
6 beers in and I don't really drink and my soul brought me here for a reason. I have a son on the way and all I want to do is give him the best possible life possible. To much evil in the world. One love
Lost so many ppl over the years, I needed to hear this ❤☀️🤠🐺☕🤘
The definition of being a man.
MrTryphodemos thank God for that too, us ladies miss real men
Having a penis and balls?

Yes, it is.
Hugo von Payns respect
Dude, Metallica's Mama Said came out in 1996, this came out in 2007. It's two completely different songs I don't think you can compare them.
Love this video. Nice how Maynard got a plug in for his Vineyard. He is brilliant.
this song helped me through a bad break up..
2:10 Epic product placement.
Bad Ass.....humblingly.
Wonder if he is holding a bottle of his Arizona wine. It's incredible how Maynard can make such great music where I don't just hear it, I feel it.
I like the name dropping on the wine bottle....classy!
I got my ex-fiancee into Puscifer. We bonded over Maynard's music. She cheated and left me. It's been over a year and I'm still passing that kidney stone, hoping this broken hearted pain will pass away soon.
Been a month for me. God i hope it comes sooner than a year.
You all have bright futures. Don't let the past take it away from you.
Let the pain pass. Don't hold onto it...
How are you doing today?

U did this song justice! Great way to add the lyrics... mmm love this song (whole album was great)
Still an amazing song to this day, I always come back to it.
Somboku, it means to do the right thing. To be the more mature person in the situation regardless of what the other person does.
Maynard is the FUCKIN MAN
Love that he's got a bottle of Cauducious, a rifle, a cowboy hat, and aviators. That's Maynard for you, that's a real man.

okay What scene EXACTLY was it in?
Right after they make entry where all the people were trapped in the house, and they get in the unit. Around 54 and a half minutes into the movie. Your welcome.
PeliChan after thhey caught the human traffickers. While driving into Los Angeles
Here!!
End of Watch is my favorite movie because it inspires me to become A Police Officer
I'm just finding all sorts of good Puscifer music today.
@AAAbstractJack >>> 2) "Maynard's reach into simple ancient concepts" I feel this is an understatement - yes he touches on classic archetypes, but as you mentioned he (and his bands) push these ideals into our contemporary culture thus making these "concepts about life in general" more relevant to our time and pathos. thats why this song is like a medicine for me, for my life/heart...

Honestly, I didn't like this song the first time I heard it.... What the hell was I thinking?!!?? So glad I gave it a second chance
Pure Genius!
"Life will pound away where the light don't shine son."
Thank you for this.
Awesome song

Well said.
It's like a commercial for merkin vineyards :)
2:22 "Take the high road"
>What looks a lot like Peyote in the foreground
badass
Rain still shines
She needs to live her life too, don’t resent it, respect it.
life is a storm, you learn to ride the waves, or it'll take you under.
Anyone know of other songs with a similar theme and preferably of the rock genre?
Look for the album called "the perfect circle" the cover art is a woman with a yellow slug om her face, its ome of my favorite albums
U crack me up Cat Bringer. lol
I love this song so much...kinda reminds me of leonard cohen in parts.
Maynard great like always
Uh... those are barrel cactus. Trust me. Get stuck by one just once and you'll never forget. ;)
8 years and the pain still there as though it was yesterday.........some pains cant heal
It's not about the pain healing, but us accepting the pain into who we are and moving on.

Don't pick the scabs or else you will never heal.
he says "take the high road" as he looks at it too
some one says they like tool sweet we can be buds some one says they like maynard did we just become best friends?
rick grimes I just say Maynard James Keenan’s work
I wish I heard this song earlier in my life huh
