Yeah, this guy started making sea shanty songs part way through the pandemic on tiktok to pass time; they got really popular just for being entertaining, a way of bringing back the past and were easy to join in with as you see with all the people in here.

It's a sea shanty. It's from the like the 1800s . It's like a war song for sea men . Like Vikings and pirates.
It's not a war song. They're work songs sung to help the crew keep rhythm and morale during routine tasks.

This is not a pirate song, it was from regular sailors/whalers around New Zealand.

@@kingxiii4680 sorry, it was a shanty written in the 1860's about whaling in New Zealand in the 1830's. Wellerman company were the supply vessels to the whaling stations in NZ. Risky life given the Maori musket wars were going on around them.
