HELL YEA! It was a great experience and oh man! it gets up and goes a lot faster with all new bearings. Please let me know if you need help I can provide some advice!!
Thanks for this video bro, I am going to be replacing the ISB and possibly the rest of the bearings on my B000 here real soon for my Boosted Vitara build 🙂 cheers
Thanks for the video man, shows me some details that other youtubers didn't explain.. My big question is (hopefully the wording is correct) when you are installing the gear stacks, do you need to have the transmission in neutral? Not only where the shift linkage goes but the stacks themselves..? idk maybe there is only one way for the gear stacks and forks to be lined up when it goes back together and the case is sealed up? I just find that when I have everything lined up and put back together, I can go thru the gears and spin the input shaft but when I get to 4th gear the selector ring (on the gear stack) doesn't want to fully go up and into 4th gear.. Sorry this is hard to explain when I barely know what's going on in this damn thing lmao
Dude! You just gave the confirmation ive been searching hours for !!! I broke the plastic oil guide plate while pulling the needle bearing out. Come to find out the part is discontinued.. I've seen the next gen has the same part but different part numbers and the dimensions are different. But I see you used it in this video!
Hey brother. I'm about to put my transmission back together after replacing the isb, what gear should I be in when is installing the interlock guide bolt? That's the only part that is making me nervous. Thank you for your awesome videos.
The interlock bolt is tricky!! What I did was slowly turn it in by hand with a 1/4in ratchet. While watching on the inside of the trans to ensure it fits in solid. Look closely at my video, along with looking at yours. Put the bolt in and out you'll see where its supposed to seat. Only truly goes one way, trans should be in neutral I guess when you assemble it.
Are the synchros for the y7 the same as the y8? I’m trying to find the rebuild kit and they all say ex but I assume they are the same internally except for the gear teeth count.. any help would be appreciated 😅
Hey man great video I did everything here but when I put it back in the car it whines in reverse and I saw like if it wanted to get stuck while in reverse and idea what it could be?
@@slimesspeedshoptv im not sure it was still on the jack stand when I tried it but I was a loud whine and I saw that the cv axel were kind of getting stuck im not sure if that was normal
@@slimesspeedshoptv yes i did it goes through all the gears and reverse but as soon as I release the clutch in reverse it whines loud and all of this is while in jack stands I didn't put the wheels back on because if there was an error I could fix it I don't know if that make a difference but I also notices while on the jack stands it moves forward in reverse is that normal I don't know if that happens because it was in the air on the jack stands
@@hernanhinojosa6596, in a different video they explained that the reverse whine is due to the reverse gear being a straight cut rather than the angle cut like the forward gears. It's probably loud because you have it out and it's not being muffled by the engine and fire wall.
Did you mesure the thrust clearance for mainshaft and differential ? If so did you use the honda tool to do it ? (The OEM references for those who are curious: 07GAJ-PG20110 07GAJ-PG20120 07GAJ-PG20130 ). Im trying to know if its possible to do it without the honda tools. Great video
Thank you for those numbers. I was looking to see if this was done in the video as well. I'm just going to get the tools myself and follow the service manual.
What country are you in? Certain "assembly lubes" work fine. You could use just engine oil if you had nothing else. You can't order the grease online and have it shipped?
Mine has a leak near the speed sensor I have no idea where it comes from the mechanic told me that it comes from the oil seal inside but I can't imgagine that the oil is leaking from the outside near the speed sensor of the tranmission. I wanted to send some pic but I cannot make or private message you. Please help. Thank you so much.
Did you replace the 13 bolts that seal the bell housing to the trans housing ? The head of these bolts look much more solid than the stocks one. May i ask you the reference ? Are they from honda ?
I just took the factory bolt out and went down to my hardware store and bought the same ones. I think I torqued em to like 30lbs so they're not a special bolt!
google this my friend! "Bushing Seal Driver Set" for the price I went with the largest kit available. You're gonna thank yourself when you need the size just a liiil bit smaller.
these transmissions are known to have the countershaft bearing come out, if you watch my disassembly video the bearing was 1/3 of the way out which is why I started this rebuild. Punching the marks into the trans helps mush the metal and keeps the bearing snug in there. I prolly did way too many punches but it looked cool so I did it.
I would be down. My friend did the powder coating for me, I just went to hardware store and bought $20 of all new bolts to seal it up before I blasted it.
It’s been really refreshing finding this channel. Great music, smooth assembly, and a ton of info!
thank you man! enjoy the show
First proper Honda manual transmission rebuild I have watched on the web. Congratulations, and thank you for the quality content.

would you share the transmission document? Thanks

So is there a shim between the differential the trans housing?

no I just put it all together. The only thing I changed was the diff so I did check that clearance between axle seal and bearing. Was all good.

Do you need to use that specific locktite? Or can I use regular red locktite
Where did you get the rebuild kit and the breakdown sheets from?
Where can I buy the plastic shims amine are completely destroyed
Or a snap ring?
I have a hard time finding white lithium grease in my country. Is there any alternatives to lubricate oil seals ?
