No... You're not an audiophile. Far from it. Edifier makes good value products - but they are no where near the performance levels of those KEF's. Start by sitting infront of the speakers... fix the echo in your room... be consistent on your feedback. Nothing can sound a thousand times better and a minute later its marginally better. You also need to educate yourself on how good sound actually sounds.

Funizweclive fair points, but in all fairness you need to educate yourself as well.
      Edifier makes the Airpulse A80, A100, A200 & A300.
The A100 are half the price of the Keff LSX and in my humble opinion are equal in performance and my personal prefference goes to the Airpulse.

I'm even surprised that there's a response to this, after so long. And incase my comment was taken out of turn, I wasnt trying to sound smart or troll the comments. I made the above comment out of experience, not guess work. I own a few Edifier products, including the above mentioned and have had the Kefs. So using that, as well as my experience of being in the audio hobby for about 2 decades... I'm not just rambling. But, I'll respect your - preference. 👌🏾🙏🏾

Your only argument for the KEF sound is "they sound a 1000 times better"??? That's it, we have to watch 12min of video for that conclusion? If you haven't got the tools to measure the sound at last talk about how the present mids, highs and lows. They are a 1000 times better is something you expect coming from a 10 year old calling himself an audiophile.

I just do not understand why you would pay 2k for those, for $1000 you can get an insane pair of speakers connected to like a $200 amp that will have way more connectivity and controls than those, and speakers that will blow those out of the water. If you are a true audiophile, thats the way to go. The KEF/all powered speakers are more just for convenience sake than true audio quality.

    • @chrisspear7644
      @chrisspear7644 5 ปีที่แล้ว

you are missing the point of an active speaker. Using active crossovers and EQ means you can get so much more from a speaker than using passive crossovers and a single amp channel. Its the combination of streaming, DACs, active EQ, dynamic boost/limiting, phase-corrected-crossovers, and 4 seperate amplifiers all inside a pair of LS50s that makes them special. much more audiophile than say, hooking up a $200 amp to a pair of passive speakers.

I am sorry, but when people do sound tests on nice speakers using a laptop I can't take the test serious. It is just one sound clip of which quality is not known, is it MP3, a CD of FLAC? Then the micky mouse wire setup running to the speakers. I am sorry to say, but I must agree with the majority of the people here this is amateur night..

They too have much of the same tech along with anodized aluminum housings, adaptive bass, party mode, WISA tech that doesn't lose quality of music over WiFi, excursion protection, thermal protection, and Acoustic Lens Technology. It's nice to find a brand that can bring similar qualities as Bang and Olufsen. Great Job Alex, your videos are awesome!

Once you set up a speaker you never go near it again...so all that touch screen crap is clickbait bollocks...the source is 90% of your final sound the speaker is a delivery system so marginal gains in sound and the top end sounded muggy enough on the KEF's (which is probably more down to matey boys ability to tune them properly) makes them expensive gimmick speakers There are speakers in the €500 range that would blow them out of the water minus the gimmicky controls

When later referring to sound quality you said "the KEFs take it again, but only marginally". Which one should I believe? Am I missing something?
Oh also, an RJ45 ethernet cable, which is the kind the KEFs use, should be able to carry data over 100m or so. It might pick up a lot of electrical noise on the way though, so it's best to use a high quality, well shielded cable if you wanna run it that far.

There is something wrong here : the Edifier sounds sharp, clear and dynamic. But when you switch to the KEF, the sound is very compressed and blurred and not punchy at all. I know the KEF LS50 should sound much better than that. Did you use the exact same mic position and settings for both pairs of speakers ? All I can say is the Edifiers, as they were recorded here, sounds much better than the KEF, which should not be the case.

The edifiers default setting is dynamic mode. This is its dsp which allows it to sound artificially more dynamic with boosted lows and highs. Switch it to classic mode and it will sound flatter like the kefs.

This really comes down to the person.. I have always considered my self an audiophile... I have been huge into car audio for over 25 years.. it was only 8 years ago I got into SQ competition and learned so much more about what to listen for. You have to have a trained ear to really appreciate what a higher end audio system gives you. When you understand what you are hearing it takes things to a whole new level. I use the KEF Q series for home audio.. it's nice stuff.

Edifier does not have a big heatsink because it uses a class D amp w/c runs cooler over the competition :) Sound over performance, Edifier is the perfect choice. Cheaper but does sound great for the price :)

I'm using a pair of studio headphones and tbh they sound very similar. I think you need to find a better way of testing them Alex.

    1. Stop shouting
    2. Learn the proper way to test a speaker
    3. Learn the proper way to shoot a video
    4. Reshoot

Josef CK Ngai Right. Tested with only one track and with only one microphone! Didn’t even talk about frequency response of the speakers either.

Wow, no comparison. Immediately heard a lot more sounds drowned out by the Edifiers bass. Even over the internet to my headphones, it's apparent the Kefs are much better at imaging, detail etc.

If you're going to review hifi/audiophile gear, your audio has to be on the better side of decent. It's not. The reverb from the room is atrocious. Please spend some money on room dampening.

He needs to spend money on educating himself first.... because with his audio - knowledge, who the hell knows what he will use as dampers.
