- The Minnesota Timberwolves came out flat in their season opener, falling to LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Los Angeles Lakers. The offense was stagnant, the defense was sluggish, and the result was exactly what the Wolves deserved. The only thing about last night that I didn’t like was the way Randle looked. There’s a difference between missing shots and just looking not focused and sloppy out there. If he isn’t consistently giving 18+ pts this team won’t have another deep playoff run. I promise you that
There was a lot not to like about last night.
Julius Randle's defense is so bad that he clears the lane on defense. I watched that happen 3 times last night. He gives so much space to his man that he walks backwards, clearing out players in the lane with his body, and allowing an open attempt. He is very bad at standing his ground or, maybe, caring about defense. I can see a trade by the deadline. But mostly, it would be nice if he was a bench player.
A little concerning how clunky we looked. It was just frustrating to watch the Randle fit. I hate I mean I hate Finch’s rotations. Randle was sleeping out there on the glass, Rudy was up and down offensively, but overall I think he’s getting better actually. Nakeil is still just taking awful shots, he plays decent defense. Ant alternated between making Austin Reeves look like an all star, and then locking people down on other plays. Conley is younger than Lebron by 2 or 3 years but looked cooked.

Agreed but Rudy isn't really helping which is why I think he needs to leave starting lineup, we can put Reid in and if we want to go big, let's try Jesse Edwards... Rudy needs to start coming off the bench..

Au lieu de discuter avec les adversaires, il devrait se soucier de ne pas arrêter trop souvent la balle et de la faire bouger, jouer off-ball ne veut pas dire rester dans son coin immobile en somnolant, il faut bouger pour manipuler les défenses. Combien d'assists ? Et puis 2 passes ratées de suite en cloche sans consistance dont la dernière sur remise en jeu, c'est pas super.
Leur défaite n'est pas grave et tout le monde a sa responsabilité même Ant. Arrêtez de toujours dénigrer l'un ou l'autre, sans vous poser et réfléchir un tant soit peu c'est stupide. Après KAT c'est qui votre prochaine vicitme : Randle, Gobert. et si Reid ne progresse pas vous comme le pensez vous le jetterez à la poubelle aussi ? Ecoutez la conférence d'après match de Finch, on approuve ou pas chacun fait comme il veut, mais il est cash : pour jouer proprement il faut que chacun le veuille et l'exécute.

Randle and Gobert deserved duds. 4x DPOY got destroyed by AD, Randle couldn't even be bothered to box out Austin Reaves and ball-watched on every other defensive play...

Randle let Austin reaves grab an offensive rebound off a free throw right in front of him. Randle wasn’t even trying most of the game. Defensively, terrible

Only reason ant was 10/25 was because he was chucking up 3s at the end of the game. He was the only consistent shooter and scorer throughout the game.
Unfortunate early proof that I was correct, the Towns trade made this team worse. No more size advantage, they were absolutely dominated inside, and that will only become more apparent come playoff time (assuming they still make).
Knicks fan here, I knew Randle would be like this. He does not have the motor or the mental toughness to be a 25 ppg threat in the post season. He will get better during the regular season but the spacing issue will come up in the playoffs.

They looked absolutely awful. If the Lakers didn't miss 25 threes it would have just been a carbon copy of the Knicks Celtics outcome, except the Knicks had at least some of their players shoot well
If I was coach Finch I would bench the starters at the second half and put a player like Luka Garza out there that will give his effort. I will say Rudy played a pretty good game, but effort should never be a concern especially on opening night! Players like Josh Minott and Luka Garza that are hungry and want to win would give the pat Bev effect and make the team try a little more. I think Dvo played well he just didn't get enough volume to get anything really going. I think Anthony Davis was an absolute monster in the paint which ruined Randles game but he did hit a three point shot that makes me happy. He looked comfortable hooting it as well.

Conley had a miserable game. His 3 pointers were way off and he made multiple lazy pass turnovers. So miserable that he got only 20 minutes.

It was one game folks. Calm down. I'm not super concerned about the overall team. Remember when all of ya'll wanted Finch fired when we blew that big lead against ATL last year?
Positives: Randle's play making. His offense looked a little rusty and rightly so, he hasn't played since mid season last year. CALM DOWN. His early play making kept the Wolves in the game in the 1st.
I really like the lineup of Donte, Ant and NAW. This is gonna cause a lot of fits on opposing teams.
Our pace looked good at times. When they pushed it up, good things happened.
Negatives: Conley looked really old out there. I see his minutes being in the mid high 20's.
We don't have a lot of size outside Rudy. Naz, Randle and Jaden will have to step up on grabbing boards.
Jaden is so frustrating to watch. He's a fouling machine.. can this guy ever not foul out?
Unwatchable game, wolves are in trouble. Not a fun team to watch, no heart, no offense to create points, just ugly, ugly, ugly.
ant cldnt drive cuz of AD and Hayes, lebron too. they schemed to control his drives. thats why they had to move to randle to do it. randle and ant were sleeping on d, kept losing their man. randle left the backdoor open twice for his man to score. i think they are shook up from trade, i think they're going to need time to stablise. overall ant's shot looks grt. donte is a dawg, he flies ard the court, and does everything.

The wolves show zero chemistry against the lakers who out hustled them from the start. Unfortunately, wolves fans will have to endure another "get used to Rudy" year with the new players which took a full year to materialize. Unwatchable!

Lakers shot horribly and still dominated the game.
Only because they were playing with more energy and urgency. I suspect this was because it was Redick’s first real game as their coach and the whole LeBron and Bronny bs.
