The v10 was the last real M motor, the real m division retired when bmw step out of F1 as engine supplier
second to last for me. the last real M motor was the S65 in the E9X. it was the last engine from bmw capable of sending chills up your back. any other engine after the era of the S65 and S85 are just not the same

My first car was an E30 - a 1986 325 with a manual transmission. I got that car in 1997 from the next door neighbor and was OBSESSED with BMW after that. I even got a job washing cars on the weekends at a dealership.
Fast forward to 2024. I'm practically 40 and don't recognize the brand at all. What would I buy in their lineup today? Nothing.
E46 is my favorite. Got a 2004 330ci. I got it at 165k and just hit 200. Runs like i bought it yesterday.
good taste!!! and thats the sign of a real car man when you can keep them rolling that long. Most people would complain about their reliability even me with my old m6 but I learned personal or consistent "reliable" dealer maintenance goes sooooo far. Keep that thing it is timeless!
You right about the radio. Hell the dang dash on my Mercedes will have you about to dang crash. The dealership actually told me if the dash goes out you will be in a messed up situation because everything is digital. Still thinking about trading it in.

I used to work for a BMW/Mini dealership. I got to drive the M6’s with that weird ass auto-manual transmission (I abhor that) a manual and an auto. I never felt a smoother manual transmission in my life. Them synchros had to have been lathered in pornstar lube with how smooth they were. The M6 is my favorite BMW.

I miss my 2010 m6 v10 boyyyyyyy that thing had titanium exhaust and tuned lean for maximum boost potential so it would spit fires from any shift after 2nd. I was moments from being a BMW fanatic like my moms but the transmission blew on me and I realized i wasnt not a BMW man financially at that time real quick hahhahaha. 29k to replace it an 21k used replacement. I ended up auctioning it and grabbing a new 2009 SRT8 challenger. Best decision financially because that thing was bulletproof in comparison despite being a lot slower. I never looked back when they started really making the changes like even the m3 v8 was snatched the m5 v10's were snatched and the main joy i got from mines was that merci exhaust note profile. The v8 m3 sounding so damn good too! good times for sure. I may keep a eye out for one to do some project build for in my past time now that you fired up my memories of how bad ass them things are.

I usually tell me self I'm not but.... yea changes after a few highway ride along with my club lol. I think the only thing i never boosted that I owned was my first c6 before my yellow one i men if you dont count spray as boost. Anyone who can keep stock cars stock are so lucky. They stuff only breaks from their drive fails or lack of maintenance. Performance fanatics like me break stuff just by being to fast at a given moment lmao. I could afford the 5k turbo kit but not a 30k trans at all those years back anyways. Now if my C8Z breaks it will be a little more than that 30k but im prepared for it thanks to those earlier car switches and knowing what I could afford to repair or do work on easily and what I couldnt.

An M series should never have a slushbox(which is a big part of why it's so heavy). They aren't built for drag racing either. BMW used to claim to be a drivers car, as far as I'm concerned, they've fallen too far from that. A driver needs a car that just drives, no screens, no superfluous tech--a real driver doesn't need that shit. The car itself is supposed to be the entertainment.

Nobody ever talks about the rear wheel drive 2012 to 2016 Hyundai equus with that 4.6 with 4 valves per cylinder and dual overhead cams with 385hp naturally aspirated. if that ain't enough for yah the 2012 to 2016 models feature a 5.0 coyote with 429hp naturally aspirated. Those cars be selling for 10 12k with under 100,000 miles

i'll stick with the turbo I6's.. they've put enough years into them, and the B58/S58 is kind of a testament of their progression considering it's use in drift events with 1000 HP cars running multiple seasons with just oil changes for maintenance..

I was about to buy a 340i until I looked in the wheel wells and saw macpherson strut suspension 🤢🤢🤢 giulia ti sport was slower but the giulia 2.0 and quadrifoglio have the same steering geometry and torsional rigidity so a 4cyl guilas handling is embarrassing to a 340i
