Bk debut name is jason (his english name when he lives in canada for 8 months).. he changed it back to his real name because after the survival show (mixnine) all the producers and management know him by byeongkwan...
As i remember Mixnine debut fell thru because yg changed the agreement and the other companies did not like it... the survival shows is designed to help promote the person who won.. it will be only temporary like what happned to chan in UNB...
Why are they not popular? I really dont know.. and it makes me mad to think about it😭 they came from a small comapany..back in 2017 they are the only artist they had.. but today the company have a few artist now and new trainees 🥰 the company grew a bit but still very hard to compete with bigger and well known companies out there...plus some people don't want to explore other artist and just stick to the big 4 companies...

Idk what groups they would have been with if they had stayed with their former companies but I do know that Byeongkwan and Yuchan were at JYP while Bangchan was there (and were friends with him). The only possible group they could have been in is Stray Kids but they left because JYP wasn't planning on debuting a boy group any time soon. :(
Junhee was a trainee at Jellyfish at the same time that VIXX was there and Sehyoon was at YG at the same time as Winner. So in an alternate universe I guess that could have happened.
The question about whether it was Korean fans or international fans making a big deal over the shorts, it was Koreans. Korea is actually very homophobic and anti-feminist.

24:51 A.C.E was definitely not meant to be a temporary thing. The boys were split into two groups to audition for the shows in order to try and draw new attention to the group; both of the resulting groups were only slated to promote together for one year but a lot of new fans were gained from the shows, so it worked out well for them in the end. If Donghun and BK had been in the M9 group that got canceled (bc YGE is a mess) the timeframe would have overlapped with Chan's absence and there likely would have been some sort of duo promotion for Jun and Wow during that time. BTW UNB's promotions were good, definitely recommend checking their music out if you've got time.
30:14 this question is always asked and I honestly don't know why they're still so underrated. When they debuted it might have been because they were the first group from a new/unknown company and had the hard style songs that not everyone is a fan of.... now though, it really makes no sense that they're not constantly being shouted about. Hopefully once they've returned from their various enlistments their next promotions will bring in the kind of attention they deserve.

Regarding the survival shows, as someone who was a choice back then, their company basically sent them to gain exposure, A.C.E was only going to be active for like 2 years since their company was smaller and then depending on how they were doing they’d consider extending (here we are 5 years later!!!) mixnine’s debut fell through because yg couldn’t create a contract that satisfied all parties, Chan was inactive in a.c.e after debuting in UNB for about 9 months (we still got little interactions with ot5 though!)
Fun fact though: considering it was intended for 3 of the members to be inactive for some time to be in the survival show groups there’s an A.C.E bside on their adventures in wonderland album (take me higher is the title track) called Black & Blue which was supposed to be the title track for a Jun & Wow subunit in the meantime! That same album also has a bside that’s a Donghun & Byeongkwan duo song!
