    (1). Great video of that beautiful guitar. (2). Badass playing - I really understand the vibe and was never bored. (3). I have been a PRS Private Stock guy since 2014 and then found Suhr and have a stable of both - amazing guitars. (4). I tried my first Tom Anderson this year (I was just never exposed to them) and COULD NOT BELIEVE how amazingly well that they are built, how well they play, and how they sound! It’s not a secret - but - KINDA?? I mean - they are AMAZING and yet not just myself, but a few of my closest playing buddies had also never played TA before. Now…I own a Raven Shorty and a Drop Top…and have another one (special order in distress with a Baby Floyd!!!) due to arrive in November!! Sorry for the long comment…it’s just really refreshing for me to find a great guitar player that I connected with (your video) that feels the same way about the incredible Tom Anderson guitars as I now do. Cheers Brother!!

    Great video and very stoked to see others appreciate what great work they’re doing. Let a very special one of these go to a pawn shop in a hard time and that was one of the hardest lessons in life I’ve learned. Can’t put any monetary value on something truly special, and Tom & Co. surely make special instruments.

    I keep coming back to watch this video again because it's so great! Love to hear you play, and you get some awesome tones from that Suhr! I currently have the great privilege of working for Tom and I don't think I ever want to leave that job! Everybody in the shop is just a nice, genuine person. I've only been there a short time, but it took no time at all for me to realize that it really is a family in that workshop. It's great to hear the nice things you have to say about the company, because it's all true! Not even just about the quality of the guitars, but about who Tom is! It brings me great joy to see how appreciative you are of what he does! And glad you love that guitar!!

    Great video! I am interested only in a strat style guitar, i had fender CS but i don't like some vintage specs, Music man cutlass which is stunning but i don't really like to have the battery inside. Then a month ago i bought a Tom Anderson Icon Classic, it's really solid and stable guitar. About the tone i have to study better the HB in the bridge but i really love the neck pu, it's warm and i can play jazz with all the dynamic of the single coil. The roasted maple neck and the stainless steel frets are just perfect, so smooth and comfortable. I contacted the company because i had a doubt and they were really quickly to answer. So i agree with you at 100% it's an amazing company that take care of their instruments, actually i am selling my other two guitars because i want to order another Anderson, maybe an Icon classic but SSS with VA7 pickups.

    Do you wipe down the raw nickel pickups each string change? Mine tend to get oxidized on my Anderson quite quickly so just curious how you keep that brushed look pristine? I started using a polish, but it's slowing polishing the pickups to where they are not a nice satin brushed finish. Great demo and love my Guardian Angel. I don't pickup my other guitars often at all...

  • @emerycomputer
    @emerycomputer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yep, pretty amazing instruments, on par with the best of them. The craftsmanship of the neck, in particular, is outstanding. Unfortunately, not many places stock them, hence the widespread lack of knowledge of these beautiful instruments.
    I've got Li'l Angel on order with SSH pickup configuration, jumbo frets, alder on roasted maple/rosewood.
    I still want those single coil sounds in addition to the bridge humbucker; I basically aimed for as much flexibility as possible. It's gonna be a painful wait.

    Masterful demo sir. I'm about to order my first custom Anderson and was very much leaning towards an angel just like this. I'm not much of a shredder though and don't really need the 24 frets so I'm reconsidering if a 22 fret drop trop HSS would be better. Any thoughts on if the "normal" change in voicing caused by moving the neck pickup to accommodate the extra few frets is present in an Anderson? And how stratty of a tone can you achieve with the HH setup? Do you think an HSS might cover more ground if you aren't looking for a high output neck pickup? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated Louie, rock on 👍

    Wow that is one beautiful instrument...I had a Music Man Steve Morse signature model which looked a lot like yours but not as subtle and pretty...one feels like diving into that guilted purple maple on yours...I ended up selling my Music Man because although the ergonomics were great and the neck was the most playable I have ever played I found the sustain substandard compared to my Fenders Gibsons, PRS, Nick Hubers....by the way I am not THE Steve morse just to be clear...thanks for your great demo and best
    regards from Switzerland.

    Thanks for the Anderson overview, Louie. Simple question: what makes an Anderson better than a Suhr? I own a Suhr Modern and, while it's a fantastic instrument (well-crafted, comfortable, etc.), I don't really like the body shape and wonder how that Anderson Arc Angel feels and performs compared to the Suhr Modern. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Louis, I saw your PRS special 22 on the wall. How would you compare the special 22 with your Angel? I heard some demo that the NF pickup of special 22 is really really sweet, but I could not find one in my city to try and listen to. I really struggle for months to decide whether I should buy a special 22 or TA Arc Angel. Is the clean tone of TA as good as special 22? Thank you so much for your opinion!

    • @LouieLively
      @LouieLively  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Ryan- I absolutely LOVE that PRS. It was my first one- before that I *never* played a PRS I liked. It’s a wood library and I think it’s every bit as good as a private stock. So unfortunately with the factory 5 way you can’t get the NF by itself - I hate it and need to get my tech to rewire it for me- I’m not good enough to do so myself LOL. You can get a lot of tones out of it, lotta positions & coil splits, but unfortunately I’ve never heard the NF by itself. It’s only ever on with either the neck or bridge, and the middle of the 5 way is both humbuckers. Compared to the TA it’s a lot darker and more compressed sounding. It’s a beautiful playing and sounding guitar- the bridge is absolutely fantastic. Clean tone wise I think the TA is better sounding, but the PRS would probably be a little more versatile. Either way man they’re both incredible guitars, and you’re not going to be disappointed either way- I just feel there’s something a bit extra special with the TA’s. Unfortunately I don’t post a lot of clean noodling but if you want to look at my IG there’s some videos of me wanking around the PRS lmao. Hope I helped!!!

      Yes, I'd say TA QC is better than production Suhr, but on the same level with Custom ordered Suhr. In my local store TAs stand above the Suhrs - the store has more than 10 of each brand - in terms of quality of wood, detailing and playability. The difference is pronounced. I was going to buy a Suhr but changed my mind after playing a bunch of each make; went with Tom Anderson instead, and I didn't even consider buying it; originally I was looking for Suhr or Ernie Ball Music Man only.

    I’ve owned a couple of tom’s guitars. They are definitely buttery and play great but lack any kind of character. They are overpriced and the guy who works customer service is super pretentious. I went to purchase a third one and asked for a custom finish, because their finishes are lame. I also wanted a novel pick up/switching system…He said “we don’t do that” and hung up the phone. So I sold both my Tom Anderson’s and bought a Duesenburg and a custom shop tele. No regrets at all. One nice thing is that they still sell well, but I doubt that’ll be the case in the future. Gibson tried to sue them, and instead of doing what Paul did, they caved. Tom actually tried to close the shop cause Roy is a jerk and a megalomaniac. It’s too bad one guy can ruin one man’s genius creations. That stupid A on the headstock... so cringy - 90s dad crap. There’s like three guys in the shop who make magic. And Tom is amazing at quality control. He’s just gotta find somebody else to pick up the phone. If you have a young player with taste, you would be wise to listen and build something that will really catch peoples attention. Save your money and get something with vibe. Perfection is nice, but those guitars never got played in the studio... they seem to be about five years behind. The new raven is definitely an improvement for them, but come on. Long scale jazz master/mustang relics? What is this 2009? I had a friend call them blandersons. Don’t test them... wimps make wimpy guitars

      You sound like a very bitter individual, and I truly feel bad for you. You could not be more wrong; and quite frankly if I were Roy I would’ve hung up on you as well.
