There's a couple of very popular surf spots on Vancouver Island (Tofino & Ucluelet) that are popular "storm watching" areas as well during the winter months, so you can imagine the insane conditions and winter weather these die-hard surfers will be out in. We just got over a week of heavy snow and deep freeze, and they would have been surfing through all of that.

Ken, i bought my first DE Van der Hagen, also a 100x Gillette Wilkerson blade. Also i scored on a Hoffritz travel razor and a Gillette travel razor for $50. Next I'll be looking for a Lutz, Gillette fat boy, Merkur 37 and new Rockwell model T. I'm excited! Great video!

Great shave Ken. You definitely would not catch me out on the beach in 63 degree weather. It was 16 degrees Fahrenheit this morning and with the wind blowing it felt like 7. I use an old Orange County Choppers coffee cup for my shaves.

Glad you’re feeling better. I had that crud about 2 weeks ago. No joke. I completed U.S. Coast Guard Basic Training at Cape May, NJ in 1990. It was Jan -Feb so the town was very quiet. I can only imagine what it’s like during the tourist trap season. Great shave and way to wrangle that slant razor. Looks like you had to go Rambo after it “drew first blood.” 😉
I'm glad you got a good shave this time with the bic blades. They're a good long lasting blade. They take a little getting used to and they're pretty aggressive up front but they work well (especially if you're a one blade brand kind of guy).
I have a mixed brush also and find it amazing mine is on a restored everready body .took the wife and my dogs to Carmel beach yesterday cold but beautiful

The Merkur slant razor (I have the long handle) are quite forgiving to the blade. In my experience, blades that have been seeming a bit ‘tuggish’ in a usual DE (e.g., a Mühle R89) seem quite smooth in the slant. Yoy can get an extra acceptable shave or two out of the blade that way.
If you love the original Top Gun from 1986 staring Tom Cruise, you will love the second one coming out in June of this year. My dad and I are Top Gun fans so he and I are going to see it when it comes out in theaters.
I have a Semogue boar-badger brush with a Taj resin handle and it's my favorite brush. It offers the best of both worlds. I liked the look of the DSCosmetics brush you used today, Ken, enough to order one for myself. I know it will start off scritchier and stiffer than the Semogue did, but I'll rise to the challenge of breaking it in. As far as April in NYC, the answer is: very iffy. You can't tell from one year to the next how the weather will go. Kevy should bring a mac and a Parr tartan kilt.

But, that mug would be great for soaking your brush😊 All of my natural hair brushes go through a pre-use break in procedure, takes a couple of days but sure helps make them softer on the face👍 Soap and splash looked interesting, seemed to work well and gotta love the burn man😉 Glad you're feeling better. So you wont believe what i just discovered today. I was talking to someone that has a Muhle R41 and he said its overly agressive for him. Now, i have one and said that its not that bad but he was talking about how the open comb design was scratching his head which got me thinking how mines doesnt do that. Turns out despite the fact that my amazon history says i ordered the R41, its actually some closed comb version I've been sent like a sister of the Muhle R41 but i have no idea what it is. All this time i though i was hot shit for using a R41 with feathers and here it isn't even a 41 after all! I've been using it for like a year now so cant even return it XD Edit: After doing some research, it turns out i was sent a Muhle R89 by mistake. I've just ordered the R41 head off eBay, should fit the handle, right?
Those Bic blades are hit and miss for me. Some shaves they do awesome and others it seems like there is something wrong with the blade not cutting like the last blade did.
I see that Bic blade got you in a few places. Didn't you review that blade in another video and it got you really bad?? There are just some blades that are tailored to some and not others. So you wont believe what i just discovered today. I was talking to someone that has a Muhle R41 and he said its overly agressive for him. Now, i have one and said that its not that bad but he was talking about how the open comb design was scratching his head which got me thinking how mines doesnt do that. Turns out despite the fact that my amazon history says i ordered the R41, its actually some closed comb version I've been sent like a sister of the Muhle R41 but i have no idea what it is. All this time i though i was hot shit for using a R41 with feathers and here it isn't even a 41 after all! I've been using it for like a year now so cant even return it XD
Edit: After doing some research, it turns out i was sent a Muhle R89 by mistake. I've just ordered the R41 head off eBay, should fit the handle, right?

Those Bic blades are hit and miss for me. Some shaves they do awesome and others it seems like there is something wrong with the blade not cutting like the last blade did.

I see that Bic blade got you in a few places. Didn't you review that blade in another video and it got you really bad?? There are just some blades that are tailored to some and not others.
