@@DezZzO_YT true. that's probably the case. In my mind I thought the line : "my father killed me" was more about lucian betraying damian. not about killing him in a literal sense
I don't ever really comment on videos, but this song touched my heart. I was a son who was the victim of domestic violence and an overall hard father son relationship. Sometimes after my dad was done with one of his huge freak outs I would just lay there. Sometimes he would come back sad and shameful, he held me and apologized. I felt so loved, I felt his warmth for which I wanted so bad. To my naive child mind everything seemed perfect now. It's like this song is an embodiment of those sorrowful memories. Brought tears to my eyes. Today I am a dad and am driven to be the best and most loving dad I can be.
peace brother. all the best for your life. never forgive your father for what he did to you, it will motivate you to love your child even more. children deserve all the love they can get. please keep your child away from pets, especially dogs. love your child unconditionally.
You are doing good by becoming a better father to your son. They didn't choose to be born in this world, and the only thing you can give to them if you choose to bring them into this world, is love, knowledge and kindness.
RIP Alexander. He was a noble soul, maybe misguided but noble nonetheless. His story really just hurts me to think about. So staunchly did he believe in his cause. A great antihero.
Honestly, this should of played during the credits. The vocal lyrics stand out to everything else in the OST and would of made the ending feel memorable.
Indeed it is, that I won't dispute. Its what a sequel is suppose to be, improves just about everything the original game did and takes it from 1 to 100.
This song had me in shock when I first heard it in the Divine Ascension expansion. I thought lyrics would made it something else: NO! This song is perfect, beautiful, honest, and haunting. I come back to this song a couple of times a week. This is hands sown my favorite song to be written in like 20 years.
its on high notes from beginning to end. it is hard on the chest and daphram muscles. try to open your moyth inwardly, if that makes sense. increasing the volume of your mouth should help you sing higher notes. I think there is no connection but it made me remember that line when Verdas, the dying elf in fort joy's prison, talk about his friend getting shot in the back by the divine.
R.I.P. Alexandar he wanted to save the world, protect the innocent, and protect his father's good legacy. But he was betrayed by his closest ally who, on the orders of his father, persuaded Alexander to do terrible things, like creating “Fort of Joy”. And in the the end she led to his death. He could become a good person, and he wanted to be one. But he died like an unfortunate child betrayed by his father
I'd hardly say capturing innocent people, draining them of source and turning them into mindless husks through experimentation was protecting the innocent.
Alexander is the perfect example of "the road to hell is paved with good intention". In his mind he is completely justified, and he does all of it in the most noble intention, yet he did it in the worst way possible.
I haven't played any of the Divinity games and found this tune "by chance". Wow... so powerful... has something in common with some of Blind Guardian's ballads and Jeremy Soule's classics. I love it.

How dare you create such a beautiful song? Because of this i start playing again. It's 11 time i come to take some DIVINITY, 11 time i smile then Louse call's me "Chief" and my Lizard bleed out for the End of Source. It's cruel, you now?
You sure it's "frozen grave ashore" and not "frozen gravel shore"? The accent makes it a bit tricky. Also at 2:04 it sounds more like "I watched my blood soak through the snow" to me.
I do believe (don't know) that it is ,"My father bade me walk alone." not, "My father made me walk alone." could just be the accent, personally i think it sounds better and makes more sense as, "Made me" is used 3 lines previously and this is rhyming off of it.
"Bade me walk along the frozen gravel shore", I'd say. Because they walk together ("we had walked"). To me it also sounds like "When we had walked an hour more" is "When we had walked a mile or more".
It's never explicitly stated, but given Lucien's past, it could be inferred this is either about his sons Alexander or Damien, or both. God, poor Lucien. First his son falls to chaos demons and he's forced to banish Damien to hell, then watches the Pantheon he served for years forsake Rivellon as soon as the void becomes a problem. Then he tries to take all the source back to patch the veil and banish the void, believing it to be the only permanent solution, but realizes he has to kill countless innocent people in order to do it, one of them being his only remaining son. Tragic stuff.
+unownedx I agree with your interpretation... That being said, unless the OP has played both Divinity and Divinity 2: Ego Draconis, its unlikely that he actually knows who Damian is. You have to keep in mind, a lot of new players we're introduced to this franchise via Original Sin and have never played the original Divinity series, thus for the sake of that I will offer a brief explanation for anyone interested. Spoilers For Divine Divinity and Divinity 2: Ego Draconis follow Damian is the adopted son of Lucian and also the incarnate of Chaos; roughly the opposite of The Divine, demon born in human flesh. He is the main antagonist of Divinity 2: Ego Draconis and leads the Black Ring on its conquest of Rivellon after the Divine - once again - disappears without a trace. He and his father never got along, and the real tragedy of Damian lies in the fact that it is heavily implied that he actually wasn't inherently evil; it was his father's actions trying to protect him from himself and his lover that lead to him eventually going dark side.
It is most likely about Damien, but! Since Lucien's plan involved eradicating all Godwoken, it is possible that he at some point planned to murder Alexander.
