breathwork in therapy changed my life and changed my entire nervous system. in session, i would breathe so deeply, I'd feel kind of high and just lost in the sensations of my body and my brain.

The 3 first minutes are well worth watching in my opinion, in order to understand more about why this works instead of just what to do 🧘‍♂️

Thank you, dear Nicole! So happy to see you on TH-cam, too. Do this with consistency, and you gonna be surprised with the results. Your first video is great, very helpful. And I like that it doesn't look like a pro production. You exude authenticity in everything you do (and say). Why not on YT, too? Congratulations, and good luck to this part of your journey. So grateful to be a part of.

The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems are usually both active. Less like a brake and gas pedal it's more like a balance where if one is being strongly activated, the other is being actively suppressed. This is different from the brake and gas pedal model. That model suggests that when one is on the other is off which is simply not true! It's oversimplifying the mechanisms of the nervous system. It also provides a possible explanation as to why access coping mechanisms (that I assume are mediated by parasympathetic) is especial hard when we need them most (when the sympathetic system has us feeling activated/triggered). I hope this makes sense, I'd love to also hear you thoughts :)

I'm confused as to why your belly expands. I can force my belly in and out, but my *lungs* - like yours - are in my _chest._ it makes sense surely that it's my chest that's going to see the most movement as my lungs fill with air, no?
I'm aware of intercostal, diaphragmatic activity, but that's just a muscle to strengthen and control how you inhale and exhale, you're not breathing _from_ the belly, surely?
