    Hahaha the sanding shuffle! Wow, wow, wow. Awesome test Ains, you are filling a gap I really wanted to cover in my video as I was restricted to my 5" 18V Sander. I have an article coming out soon going into more detail about types of sandpaper and why they perform differently. The main thing to note with the Mirka is while yes, the FlexOvit was only a little slower brand new... if you'd repeated the test a few times the Abranet would keep on going fast whereas the Bunnings one would wear out after a few repeats. But geez, how good is that Bosch unit? No brainer if you are in production mode for markets or furniture.

      Thanks James. How else do you pass the time sanding besides dance. The Mirka sandpaper is awesome. Like you say over the life of the paper the Mirka just runs away with being the best. I’m keen to read the article when it’s out 😀 your video has great info and detail 😀

    This is exactly the upgrade I am planning. I have that 125mm Makita and I'm planning to get the Bosch 75-150, so this was perfect, thanks! The plan is not just to do the job quicker, but also to make it easier to get a flatter surface due to the larger pad.

    I've actually been looking at the Festool Rotex lately and as you say, it's ridiculously over priced. I checked out the Bosch and the guys at Total Tools told me it was a Festool challenger. This review couldn't have come at a better time. Well done, and you've made my decision a little easier. Cheers. 👍👍🙂

      Thanks Chris. I have never used a Festool to compare but I love the Bosch and at half the price it surely can’t be doubley better. Another thing I found when researching was with the Festool gear you really need to use their dust collector because they have odd size fittings and I didn’t want to 1.shell out for the collector and 2. Be locked into a brand. 😀😀

    Gooday. Im uk based and was using Festool rotes over 20yrs ago…a sensation after normal sanding. I then tried Makita roto orbit type…almost as good. I,m now at 64yrs old and retired considering the Bosch after reading dood reports. You are correct about abrasive types..they make a considerable difference. Over here its Sia or 3m products I prefer Sia Siarrex the difference being out of this world if you go from a normal sander and normal paper. We used to strip a full farmhouse table top ie 6x3 feet of a 2 pack laquer in around 15mins. [it might take a little longer these days. Great review ps try removing that extra handle and hold the sander on the top directly over the sanding pad it well stop it getting away from you. Also you bench seems a little high to get your weight over the job. Kind regards from across the big pond Stuart Bell

    Been doing a lot of sanding over the past two years. All my door and window frames and cladding are cedar, and have been badly neglected. Stripped them back, inside and out, and used Osmo. UV product on the out and regular on the inside. I think I’ve used almost every sandpaper and method... and still learning by experience. I have three festool sanders, and I can’t say which is best, because it comes down to what the task is. The 150 is so satisfying to use on big panels, but hopeless in corners or on the many narrow edges. Something with a delta pad works best However, when it comes to sandpaper, I’ve not found anything better than festool Granat.

      I bought the sander and used it for the first time today. I must say I am very disappointed. I have a GEX 125-150 AVE which is a good sander IMO. I thought the GET 75-150 would be everything like my GEX, but add the Turbo mode.
      I find the Turbo mode is less useful than I thought, because the sander is really hard to control then. One gets easily uneven results in Turbo mode. Also the vibrations are extreme and very annoying for the hands and arms. The plastic handle on the GET is a joke and does nothing to dampen the vibrations.
      Then in normal random orbital mode the speed of the GET is much slower than my old GEX. It took me more than double the time to sand paint with a new 80-grit (supplied) paper, compared to a new 80-grit (normal Bosch paper) on the GEX. (3:40 with the GEX and about 8 minutes with the GET for the exact same surface!).
      Also the handling of the GEX is much better, because it's perfectly balanced, while the GET tends to tip over all the time and needs constant attention to try to keep it flat -- which is much harder to achieve than with the GEX. I surely will get rid of the GET again and will use a belt sander or other means for the rough work and use the GEX for the final sanding.
      Ah, the vibrations on the GET are seriously more (in Random orbital mode even) than with the GEX as well .... --- I hate the GET!

    So I have that Bosch and was looking to also upgrade to that Makita. The reason I want the makita is I'm not sure how good a 6" sander would be for finish sanding. I want to start making some hardwood tables and furniture. Would you agree that you would probably use the bosch for the low grits and as you go higher use the makita for a better finish? That looks like sheet 3 is Abranet without a protective pad- and it's 150mm v 125mm 30% larger pad? Your vibrations in turbo mode are not conducive to sanding for extended lengths of time. In 2023, your best is festool or mirka 150mm brushless eccentric sanders combined with 3m cubitron II extract. The rotex compares with the Bosch but both are far too aggressive in turbo mode to be all that useful.
    I don't believe the Bosch has a replacement air center hole - this allows for better extraction and sandpaper cooling. Mirka Festool and Metabo sell sanders with this feature.

    • @alisonwilson9749
      @alisonwilson9749 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tricky to get larger hands, though.... I have the problem that with my small hands most palm and other sanders are as useless as a pile of junk. It's like they have been designed for orang-utans. My hands are strong enough, no problem, just not big enough. For delicate work I lament the passing of my old Bosch 'blue' detail sander- they haven't replaced it and I can't get the part to fix it. It was great for small paws. The only thin delta sanders I can find are cheap crap. The posh Festool orbital are no good to me, they're all too clumpy too. The one reviewed here looks at least possible, though I might go for the smaller disc version- I think there is one? I have a lot of panelled doors to do and this looks a bit big.

    Well done on this video very interesting on the sandpaper I had gone through two ryobi sanders in about two and a half years upgraded to a aeg sander both Brands were a 125mm disc I've been very happy with the aeg sander as I'm on a budget looking forward to seeing more videos from you keep up the good work
