Depending on how far the stream is to the living area, look into RAM pumps. They use no electricity and can pump uphill to storage containers. Remember to install an overflow pipe too so it can then be flowed back to the stream/creek so no flooding or wasted water.
Now that you have a nice gravel road, the T-Rex has a nice sidewalk to walk on 🙂 and P.S. your kids are so adorable!

The road looks wonderful and the gate is absolutely beautiful! One thing that gives me concern is the need for an escape route, should there ever be a forest fire. With all that forest all around you, there should be a backup plan.
He has been working on the secondary road.That's what he was cutting along,and went to get the water on.Great call though.I was worried too until they showed this.

My parents had a place in the mountains. Not as isolated, not as large but it was away from the city and well into farm-country-mountainous lands. A great way to grow up. Knowing the world is bigger than your own back yard. Your kids will forever remember these moments!

Spencer needs to make a metal box for the back of the tractor that hooks up like the box blade. The box can also be filled with rock to act as ballast.
And/ or sand to make it even heavier and wheel weights or fluid filled tires.
Or filled with any other tools or whatever he needs to use!
they do make a large tool cattie that goes right on the 3 point..
Or get or make some forks to put the tote on the back !
That delivery driver is really good at evenly spreading the load.

For the water tanks, find a heavy-duty trailer (old/cheap) with the deck height as low to the ground as possible (center of gravity deal). Twin axles. Put 2-4 totes on it. Use the tractor to pull it. Put a toolbox on it for your tools (needed for water/genreator) and a place to hard mount your generator. (with extra fuel tanks for reserve and handy access)
After the road is improved. Or you’ll lose that trailer over the edge.
This is a good plan, except for the road over the mountain.

It is so hard to believe Beau and Cam are as big as they are. I can still remember watching when Beau was still in her Mommy's tummy. These two children are growing by leaps and bounds into wonderful human beings all thanks to their parents. Oh and by the way the gate looks Amazing.

Important note for gravel roads, you need to keep all the leaves and branches etc. off the road (use a blower). They will break down and create mud that will cover your gravel and eventually make the road hard to use after storms.

To eliminate the trips down the hill to get water, make a ram pump and use it to pump water up the hill to a IBC tote at the cabin site. The ram pump will work 24/7 and any excess water that gets to the tote can just be sent back down the hill.

Would recommend wrapping your IBC Tote (s) in black visquine to keep from having an algae issue in your totes and to prolong the plastic’s lifespan.

I’m not a safety sally, but feel compelled to share this. Your tractor has a ROPS (roll over protection structure). It also has a seatbelt in the cab. The seatbelt can prevent you from being crushed in a rollover event. If you get in a hairy situation, it may save your life. If you’re operating equipment without ROPS, never wear a seatbelt. I’ve owned and operated a lot of different equipment and just wanted to share with you. Your kiddos and wife need you around.

Spencer the lesson here is keep some spare batteries for your welding helmet or purchase a helmet that charges it’s self from the welding light, ie solar I have had one now for about six years always works. Anyway love what you guys are doing.

Now you need to layer Geotextile heavy woven fabric over your gravel and do the whole thing again. If you don't, all that gravel will disappear and you will still have to do it again. Geofabric holds your gravel in place.

Hey, Spencer when I used to work on a farm I had to work solo like you. Hauling stuff is a pain, so we ended up welding a ball hitch on the back of the box blade so I could drag a little trailer with all my supplies. It made life so much better! Love you guys! Great channel, great family!

The road and the gate look great. Something tells me that you’re going to need one of those portable pizza ovens, fueled by propane, for that mountain retreat. That would also give you another option to feed that growing family with.
Great gate, love the symbolism in it (Mama Bear, Poppa Bear, and the 3 little bears, 2+1). You've got a budding videographer, fantastic job for one so young. Two suggestions for you though, 1: make the water track improvement a priority for access and include a quick turn-around area at the bottom, in case of fire. I live in the Victorian high country in Australia, and bushfires are an ever-present consideration. You or the fire fighters need to be able to get fast reliable access to that water. 3 hour turnaround is too long. 2: get yourself, what we call, a slip-on trailer, that is a sturdy trailer to mount that water tank onto, with a water pump and generator, and fire hose attached, as well as a suction hose. Using valves on the pump, you can draw water from the creek or the tank into the pump, and the outlet valve can direct the water to either the fire hose or to fill the tank. The trailer can be towed by the tractor or a 4WD. You have got great country around, love it, but take precautions so you don't get caught there. The scenery is beautiful, but needs to be respected. Also consider get a PLB (personal locator beacon) for emergencies, to get help from the outside world if needed. You your channel, keep up the good work.
Just a thought. Until you can rebuild that track to the creek, you could get 3 IBC totes, strap the on to your trailer, and go get your water from the town supply. Much less dangerous, and many fewer trips needed.

I'd suggest putting some large boulders or something between the hinge side post to where the slope gets steep to keep atvs and such from getting around the gate. Would be sad if they got around your gate and tear up your new road you put all the work and money into.

You guys are great. Absolutely a highlight in my TH-cam viewing. One note, when making a three point turn, if possible turn those rear tires towards the mountain side, not the slope side. Sliding backwards in a car, truck, or tractor IS butt plucking. Cheers
