It's funny to notice how Rarity sees this heart-stealing thing as an actual business with investments and returns! She first refuses Vinyl's heart in order to have a DJ to animate her stage, then she uses up the hearts of her first three fans as fireworks 0:46 to attract even more spirits, and earns all the revenue at 1:21 !
Gotta say, I love the Just Shapes and Beats reference. Golden. 10/10. Love it. Tho seriously, this entire Different View series is fascinating and I'm always eager to know where it goes next. Thank you so much for creating such an interesting story.
Spirits in this Universe seem to be really different from their former selves, more like half-sentient beings that only pursuits their own objectives, impulses, and act in self-defense. I'm getting this impression from the lack of pupils, the (otherwise unnecessary) initial anarchy at 0:09, and the cultural background that we have about spirits (good or bad) in general; for instance, why are they called spirits and not souls or something like that? This would explain Rarity's paradoxical actions, her disregard for one of her loving fans at 2:50, and why Starlight needs to "awaken" her (add the pupils) so that she regains self-awareness, remembers how she used to be, and becomes aware of the evil in her actions.
I... I don't even know what to say. Spirit Rarity became the rave queen of the afterlife and Starlight seems to not be bad anymore maybe (if she even was in the first place). Most of this one was kind of just sensory overload but I think I've been able to process it now xD. Loving the spirit realm world building, I think I noticed the pupils in the last one but I can't remember. There seems to be something missing from regular spirits, obviously for Rarity it was her generosity, and something about Starlight's magic can restore that missing element. The way they have to separate their cutiemarks to use their magic sort of makes me wonder if maybe most spirits don't know they can do that, which could be part of why they were so drawn to Rarity because she seemed to be able to do more than just float around.
Not quite sure what's going on at 0:09 Looks like either a beating, or something 18+. The stuff in the background with the empty can is also weird. I guess some of that will be explained in a later episode. Theory: Clearly, Starlight is "awake," hence the pupils. When Rarity gets injected, she also gets pupils, and looks like she's just woken up. We know from previous episodes that there's some odd connection between cutiemarks/magic and ponies, where magic comes from the sun; so it's plausible these spirits are related to that, something like the cutiemarks getting disconnected from the ponies? Really too early in this arc to say what's going on fully, but clearly Rarity was being the opposite of Generosity in this one, and was saved by Starlight. Also, Rarity somehow has the ability to capture hearts. Possibly the clip at 0:09 was meant to show these evil spirits are beating and robbing each other, until they got pulled in by the concert.
I think we need to see the "different view of Light" animation in order to understand this one ! First of all, very good point on the connection between being "awake" and pupils: the previous animation (DVoLight) begins with the words "Wake up!" with pupiled eyes in the background, and a shot on starlight's spirit (with pupils). Perhaps this is why she injects some of her own cutie mark in to Rarity: she would have the inherent ability to stay awake in this form ?? I don't get your second point though. Of course there is a connection between cutie marks and ponies, but I never understood that magic came from the sun, nor how it would relate to cutie marks and this animation? But on the topic of cutie marks: we see in Different View of Light that Starlight used to extract cutie marks from ponies' spirits in her lifetime, and at the end that her village was then completely abandoned and haunted because of that. Perhaps this animation here is taking place at the village and this is why there are so many spirits lying around? The pathway and the house at 0:09 do look as ruined and overgrown as the village at the end of the previous animation. If so, I wonder how and why Rarity's spirit ended up in here since she died in Ponyville. (Probably the same way as Vinyl Scratch, until she bumped into Rarity's shield... As to how it's connected... it mightn't be connected. I just thought I'd bring it up, since these seem to be strange, magical, spirit ponies, like cutiemarks disconnected from their users. You make some good points, I didn't remember the previous animations that well. Not even sure if this is due to Rarity dying, though. It could be any number of other fantasy reasons, like mind-control, or her cutiemark being stolen and taking on its own personality. If she had merely died, the question would be why she was corrupted. And yeah, my presumption is that 0:09 is demonstrating that all the spirits are corrupted. The question is by what? Rarity did die at some point in the series, but I'm not sure if she's died a second time. Though it is possible her soul got knocked out of her or something; no way to know. As we can see rarity is mostly singing Infront of ponies but starlight found her then a fight happend rarity grabbed someone and throwed them meaning she got blasted then the fight continued as rarity was taking her heart when she got it she almost ate it but instead something happend to her then starlights injection thing did something to rarity… probably what happend to the other ponies
From my point of view, you have it backwards. Starlight injecting her didn't make her like the others, it fixed her soul. She got pupils and stopped stealing the other spirit's hearts.
Alright theory time So,from what I am getting,Rarity has deliberately turned into some sort of changeling Siren,but instead of feeding from hate/anger,like a Siren would,she feeds from the love and attention,much like a changeling would,and Starlight forced her to snap out of it. But hey,that's just a theory A brooony theory!

Also would be interesting to see if in the state they are in death is permanent? Since we also saw Ponies transformed into the speres themselfs in the last one. Looking forward to see what the next video will give us. Lets see if Starlight takes each one individually or if it will be a team effort with the rescued Mane 6.

could be a possibility but looking back at the moment where she "wakes up" i think more that was an unknown trigger that let her regain consciousness. GIven how much it was overgrown outside I think she was active beforehand in a similar fashion like the others.

Okay, so this is the story I gather from the vid: Rarity's spirit is less generous and more greedy, so she uses her power/ cutie mark to draw that attention. (0:11) Before she came to the town it looked like chaos, but she build a stage (? or an arena- it's a little hard to tell) to drawn other ponies. Vinyl was the first to be attracted to the area, meeting rarity and offering her heart/attention. But rarity turns in down and instead gives it to vinyl/puts in in her chest, letting vinyl embrace her own cutie mark. In return, she gets a personal dj for her stage, which in turn draws three more ponies. These three offer their hearts as well, and Rarity takes these to make fire works, drawing a whole crowd of ponies to her stage. This slowly allows her to expand her stage/area of effect. As we can see, this grabs attention of tons of ponies, turning them into a sort of crowd of worshippers. Everyone wants to give their heart to Rarity, which she collects in the bucket for later consumption (we will come back to this at the end). At 1:44 we see StarLight enter, having tracked down Rarity's spirit. She uses powers she has gained (i dunno if they are stolen cutie marks or powers derived from her own) to make a cure, and tries to snipe it at Rarity, but she seems to sense it coming and blocks it with a crystal shield. Seeing this didn't work, Starlight breaks through the crowd and tries to corner Rarity with flames, but Rarity in turn makes a whole bunch of water. 2:26 Nice shapes and beats reference. This fight continues, Starlight constantly trying to catch up while Rarity continues to dodge the attacks. But Starlight isnt so easily defeated, following the 'dance moves' (2:37) and staying on step with Rarity. Seeing she can't keep dodging forever, Rarity has a plan. Looking into the crowd, she picks out a random fan with their heart they want to give (side note: this fan does look like apple jacks mom but i dunno if that was on purpose or not). The fan, eager, leans up to give rarity their heart. But in a twist, Rarity grabs them and throws them on stage in front of herself. Starlight, having already fired another attack, is helpless to stop it as it destroys an innocent pony. Rarity could seem to care less about her worshippers losing their life for her, taking StarLight's shock as a chance to toy with her. We see the mindless fans cheering as Rarity spins Starlight into a chair, working her charm on the pony as she had for the rest of the crowd. Starlight tries to keep her heart inside, but it cant help but coming out. Rarity, seeing the chance, pushes star light away and tries to eat the heart. (Coming back to the consuming thing, I have two theories. 1-She eats the heart which makes the pony part of her mindless worshippers. Or 2- She just eats the hearts to survive/gain more power for her own cutie mark). StarLight, seeing a new chance however, shoves her heart away and quickly injects the cure into Rarity. We can see Rarity's pupils return as she seems to realize all the chaos she has done. Anyway! That is just my theories but great vid none the less.

The pathway and the house at 0:09 do look as ruined and overgrown as the village at the end of the previous animation.
If so, I wonder how and why Rarity's spirit ended up in here since she died in Ponyville. (Probably the same way as Vinyl Scratch, until she bumped into Rarity's shield... Wait, how did Vinyl die again?)
Also, Starlight would then be acting as the guardian of her haunted village, which is pretty dope.

Okay, so this is the story I gather from the vid:
Rarity's spirit is less generous and more greedy, so she uses her power/ cutie mark to draw that attention. (0:11) Before she came to the town it looked like chaos, but she build a stage (? or an arena- it's a little hard to tell) to drawn other ponies. Vinyl was the first to be attracted to the area, meeting rarity and offering her heart/attention. But rarity turns in down and instead gives it to vinyl/puts in in her chest, letting vinyl embrace her own cutie mark. In return, she gets a personal dj for her stage, which in turn draws three more ponies. These three offer their hearts as well, and Rarity takes these to make fire works, drawing a whole crowd of ponies to her stage. This slowly allows her to expand her stage/area of effect. As we can see, this grabs attention of tons of ponies, turning them into a sort of crowd of worshippers. Everyone wants to give their heart to Rarity, which she collects in the bucket for later consumption (we will come back to this at the end). At 1:44 we see StarLight enter, having tracked down Rarity's spirit. She uses powers she has gained (i dunno if they are stolen cutie marks or powers derived from her own) to make a cure, and tries to snipe it at Rarity, but she seems to sense it coming and blocks it with a crystal shield. Seeing this didn't work, Starlight breaks through the crowd and tries to corner Rarity with flames, but Rarity in turn makes a whole bunch of water. 2:26 Nice shapes and beats reference. This fight continues, Starlight constantly trying to catch up while Rarity continues to dodge the attacks. But Starlight isnt so easily defeated, following the 'dance moves' (2:37) and staying on step with Rarity. Seeing she can't keep dodging forever, Rarity has a plan. Looking into the crowd, she picks out a random fan with their heart they want to give (side note: this fan does look like apple jacks mom but i dunno if that was on purpose or not). The fan, eager, leans up to give rarity their heart. But in a twist, Rarity grabs them and throws them on stage in front of herself. Starlight, having already fired another attack, is helpless to stop it as it destroys an innocent pony. Rarity could seem to care less about her worshippers losing their life for her, taking StarLight's shock as a chance to toy with her. We see the mindless fans cheering as Rarity spins Starlight into a chair, working her charm on the pony as she had for the rest of the crowd. Starlight tries to keep her heart inside, but it cant help but coming out. Rarity, seeing the chance, pushes star light away and tries to eat the heart. (Coming back to the consuming thing, I have two theories. 1-She eats the heart which makes the pony part of her mindless worshippers. Or 2- She just eats the hearts to survive/gain more power for her own cutie mark). StarLight, seeing a new chance however, shoves her heart away and quickly injects the cure into Rarity. We can see Rarity's pupils return as she seems to realize all the chaos she has done.
Anyway! That is just my theories but great vid none the less.
