I find it kind of strange, that the ranch owner doesn't seem concerned about flying his helicopter, into an area that has a history of causing malfunctions in machinery & electronics. Although, he is very concerned about safety when dealing with other issues on the ranch.
It interrupted the control link. Jamming isn't effective against a human being. Technology only. Helicopters don't require (or accept) any sort of radio input as a substitute for the pilot's commands. The collective, throttle, rudders, yoke or any other control over any flight surface.

The well casing is most likely a pipe that is galvanized with a zink. In first-year science class, we drove a copper rod in the ground and a zink-coated nail and got over 2 volts, this is an earth battery. No big deal.

Almost all soil is conductive, so it is no surprise they got a reading, especially since the water table isn't that far below the surface. If they were following the scientific method, they would have compared their readings to soil conductivity charts to see how their reading compared to others. Taylor said he wasn't expecting a reading that high, which means he hasn't bothered to look up a soil conductivity reference.
The lightening detector was reading the spark every time that guy disconnected the battery. It’s not a direct correlation. If there’s milliamperes of current, there’s a spark when the current is cut by disconnecting the battery. Maybe not visible but it’s a disturbance in the electromagnetic spectrum that the lightening detector, in such close proximity, picks up.

Yea it’s called coupling, I do this at work, I test products on vertical and horizontal coupling planes. Shoot thousands of volts into the plane and make sure the product doesn’t break. I’ve done that before and a drill’s LED will turn on while sitting like 10 feet away. That thing is detecting electricity. Sparks like that create a small magnetic field.

Your cell phone emits a signal to towers closeby every so often if your being thurough. Whenever you "disconnect" an active electrical circuit, there will be a "spark". That is what the detector was sensing. The "spark" will be of greater voltage than the source.

While there can be a spike from breaking a circuit, a single loop has low impedance (little energy stored in the magnetic field) so unless the sensor is extremely sensitive this shouldn't be happening. But if the sensor is a bit extreme in it's sensitivity then sure.
Of course if your conducting a current with a long length of wire , your going to get "back EMF" which would likely trigger a lightning detector. Though this is basic stuff, so I wonder why this explanation is "missing" ? Though would be interesting to drill 2 deep holes, bang in 2 metal rods at a good distance, and short them out to "discharge" the range , see if it implodes :)

Changing electric field causes a changing magnetic field and vice versa. When you disconnected the ground circuit you collapsed the magnetic field causing an electric field spike, setting off your lightning detector. A reproducible effect, but not mysterious.

Ground is GROUNDING. That's why we use GROUNDING rods. Conductivity of soil is really not as high as that showed. I dare you to try this in your yard at 30 feet of distance, never mind 50.
They are scientists. A lot of people tried doing this to Bob Lazar, too. What exactly is an "official" scientist and who is the gatekeeper to this title? Far from being all about credentials, recognition or qualifications (all these people have those, too), being a "scientist" at its core simply means you follow a rigorous, repeatable methodology and use the scientific method to explain the world around you.
You can sit a fully charged 12 volt battery directly onto the ground and it will be completely dead by morning. You can sit it on a piece of wood and it will not lose any power at all. Also, I am an avid camper/backpacker and I noticed that after sleeping directly on the ground, it seemed more difficult to get up next morning as opposed to getting out of bed at home. As the years passed and I got older it became more and more difficult and now at 70, I can no longer sleep directly on the ground.
hi guys, i work as an engineer (although I'm not an electrical engineer by training): I just fix solid state devices and optimize systems most of the time. electrolytes are any mineral that transmit an electric charge. We dont actually know, in this case, what voltages set off Eric's "lightning meter" (and why he decided to wear one) :) what I think is happening here, is a simple change in electrical potential. when guy in blue shirt disconnects battery circuit, a change in atmospheric electrical potential occurs (known as a discharge) . the discharged current is being detected by the lightning meter. as far as I recall all electrical charges will seek earth (returning to a neutral state). as other commentators have pointed out, a control circuit wasn't used (meaning a detector might "beep" everywhere with a 12v circuit, not just the ranch). conclusion: they're probably just detecting an "ambient electrical discharge" from the 12v circuit... peace. thanks for reading.
What I recommend for season 3 is to call back Ariel and do the chanting again in the same time use sls camera to detect any unknown figure which might be moving around or causing dizziness. Use an evp recorder too to hear any voices other than ur voices

Knowing the depth of the water table is critical, guys. The reading you're taking, because of the 50' spread of the electrodes, is at a depth of 50'. If the water table is close to that, you're seeing the current through the water, mostly. Also, the ground can generate voltage, depoending on the minerals present. You should do a test for ground voltage, too. No battery. Just the voltage.
And repeat the experiment at a dozen or so different locations. This is one of the most frustrating aspect of watching the show; one-off "experiments" and the wow factor.

Unless you test your environment first you don't have a baseline from which to measure. Any thing could have been buried there for years. This is not 🚫 science and will provide absolutely nothing!

High moisture content in the ground will cause the amps to be that high. And the lightning detector will detect the disconnecting of a car battery that close to it. This was nothing to get excited about.

A survey found two similar anomalies on two separate areas of the ranch. They wanted to know if there could be some connection between the two anomalies which prompted them to measure the conductivity in the dirt. According to them, that high of an electrical reading in the ground could imply that there's some kind of underground energy source. If there is & it turns out to be an unnatural source of energy, they'd need to answer 2 questions...what is the source & who put it there?

This is what I get from what is shown here; The ground is remarkably conductive, allowing a relatively high current flow. The lengths of wire plus the ground form an inductance. Disconnecting the battery from the circuit produces a high voltage back emf pulse (this is a well known phenomenon in electronics), this very brief but high voltage pulse produces a strong electric field vector in the immediate surroundings. The lightning detector is triggered by sensing high voltage pulse vectors. So it is no surprise that it sounded off. What this has to do with e.t’s I have no idea, a clickbait title.

Not sure why his lightning detector went off, but I can say that the earth still holds a lot of secrets that science is still learning about. well technically water is not conductive on its own, it is actually the minerals, metals, contaminates in it that makes water conductive

Yea it’s called coupling, I do this at work, I test products on vertical and horizontal coupling planes. Shoot thousands of volts into the plane and make sure the product doesn’t break. I’ve done that before and a drill’s LED will turn on while sitting like 10 feet away. That thing is detecting electricity. Sparks like that create a small magnetic field.

Your cell phone emits a signal to towers closeby every so often if your being thurough. You can always check online sites which give you information such as amounts of emf that can be hazardous to us and effect animals.

Whenever you "disconnect" an active electrical circuit, there will be a "spark". That is what the detector was sensing. The "spark" will be of greater voltage than the source.

While there can be a spike from breaking a circuit, a single loop has low impedance (little energy stored in the magnetic field) so unless the sensor is extremely sensitive this shouldn't be happening. Changing electric field causes a changing magnetic field and vice versa. When you disconnected the ground circuit you collapsed the magnetic field causing an electric field spike, setting off your lightning detector. A reproducible effect, but not mysterious.

We dont actually know, in this case, what voltages set off Eric's "lightning meter" (and why he decided to wear one) :)
what I think is happening here, is a simple change in electrical potential. when guy in blue shirt disconnects battery circuit, a change in atmospheric electrical potential occurs (known as a discharge) . the discharged current is being detected by the lightning meter.
as far as I recall all electrical charges will seek earth (returning to a neutral state). as other commentators have pointed out, a control circuit wasn't used (meaning a detector might "beep" everywhere with a 12v circuit, not just the ranch). conclusion:
they're probably just detecting an "ambient electrical discharge" from the 12v circuit...

If the water table is close to that, you're seeing the current through the water, mostly. Also, the ground can generate voltage, depoending on the minerals present. You should do a test for ground voltage, too. No battery. Just the voltage.
And repeat the experiment at a dozen or so different locations. This is one of the most frustrating aspect of watching the show; one-off "experiments" and the wow factor.

A survey found two similar anomalies on two separate areas of the ranch. They wanted to know if there could be some connection between the two anomalies which prompted them to measure the conductivity in the dirt.
According to them, that high of an electrical reading in the ground could imply that there's some kind of underground energy source.

The lengths of wire plus the ground form an inductance.
Disconnecting the battery from the circuit produces a high voltage back emf pulse (this is a well known phenomenon in electronics), this very brief but high voltage pulse produces a strong electric field vector in the immediate surroundings.
The lightning detector is triggered by sensing high voltage pulse vectors.

I like this show. I believe they are actually experiencing everything they say they are. It seems like they are sincere and they are showing some things that they can't explain. The thing that came flying down then hovered an then just zoomed off was hard to explain. I seen a show on the travel network that called them ghost rockets. I'm looking forward to season 3. It's interesting to me
