      Whats the point of a r9 when theres a r1.. you dont see a cbr900rr (with exception of the old fireblade) or a zx9r, again with the exception of the 90s one.. what im saying is theres no point for a 900cc supersport/superbike when theres the 1000cc superbike class already... and is it really coming out next year? If so then i doubt it..
      The r7 shouldve been a 750cc like a gsxr, and can have a class of 750s, such as the triumph 765 or w.e but i doubt it, the manufacturers struggle with sales so they look towards the street and commuting riders more, a ridable comfortable bike... but the 600cc and 1000cc will always stay i know that for sure.

    • @banestock
      @banestock ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Jason.cbr1000rr it's not about the numbers ie, displacement, it's about engine character and how it rides. Middle weights are all the rage and now with the success of the rc8 from KTM, trust me all manufacturers are going to be rushing to make Supersport middle weights! It's the hot new category going to replace the 600 Supersport.

    I got a full system without cat but with db killers. DNA air filter and stage 2 airbox. An ecu flash and a qs. Öhlins rear shock and brembo brake pads. It transformed the bike to what i wanted. Don’t need a liter bike for the roads anymore. Really this thing rips and is plenty of fun. Loving it.

    Great review from Gareth! For me, the lack of comfort on an underpowered bike is really what turned me off this bike on my test ride. If I'm going to sit on my wrists all the time, I'd want to be compensated for that discomfort with more power, an engine with more character, and better brakes. I instead bought a mint 2014 Street Triple R with 9k miles for $6000 (around 5000 quid) and couldn't be happier.

    lucky to have the 2022 R7 and finally took it on a long Hill Country ride.. WOW.. it's surprisingly easy to live with for over 100 miles. It has nearly psychic handling characteristics. Really super stoked I got this great bike. I recommend it BIG TIME. It's my daily grocery getter :) The engine is a gem. Tractable down low. Easy to gauge in traffic and in rain. Wish this bike existed 20 yrs ago :)

      @@alesterpadua7884 Fellow R7 rider here. Yes, the position the bike forces you into is not very comfortable, is it manageable? Definitely. • @ArtstradaMagazine
      @ArtstradaMagazine ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Alester Padua I'm 52 in decent shape. The riding position can become uncomfortable however I find it manageable by shifting weight and using my knees more to ensure I don't put all my weight on my wrists. I sit upright at stop signs and do a stretch. It's manageable

    I looked hard at this bike, but when I saw that I get basically nothing for the price (compared to the MT-09 for example, which costs about the same) I bought something else.

    • @tdunster2011
      @tdunster2011 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The MT-09 is a horrible bike unless all you want to do is go fast in a straight line. Because of limitations with the chassis, you can spend a fortune on suspension upgrades and an MT-09 will still never handle as well as a stock R7.

    I have been riding for 20 years. For the last 15 1000cc bikes. Currently ride a VFR1200f, rocket on wheels but heavy to push around in and out of the garage(300kg). This R7 is a thing of beauty, going for a test ride asap after seeing it yesterday at a show. Tank range and suspension is my only concern. I love the absolute power of the VFR but the weight is now becoming an issue as I am getting older.

      Except: the original R7 (OW-02) really wasn’t wasn’t much of a contender and Noriyuki Haga would have been world champion with a better bike (or with less ephedrine). Moreover, the £32,000 road going version was a laughing stock limited to 106 bhp at a time when Hondas RC51 SP1 offered 132 bhp at half the price!!! In case you were wondering, that’s an eye watering £55,000 when adjusted for inflation… BTW, the RC51 actually WON the WSBC in 2000 and 2002.

To me, the ‘99 bike was always the OW-02 and not the R7 (just as I look at Honda’s racers as RC30, SP-1 etc.)… In essense the OW-02 was never meant to be as a road bike, but was a clear-cut homologation special, with the 500 units only made to satisfy the WSBC rule book… Hence, I guess I don’t connect the original racer with what is clearly a road bike. To me the new parallel twin Hornet is MUCH worse in this regard ;)
