Our First Trip to Jaleo By José Andrés At Disney Springs! | Food Review, Atmosphere & Price!

  • In today's vlog we head to Disney Springs to try the brand new restaurant, Jaleo by José Andrés. At the time of filming this vlog they are only open for dinner and open at 5pm and do not take reservations. They will eventually open for lunch as well and begin taking reservations in April. We started with the Iberico ham and many other appetizers, some from José's family recipes. For the most part everything was a hit but there were a few misses for us. We do think that Jaleo is a great addition to Disney Springs however it is a bit pricey, because they want you to order everything at once it can be hard to tell if you've ordered too much until its too late. We ordered around 12 items and it was $225 before tip. We hope you enjoyed this Disney dining review, what do you think, will you be visiting on your next trip? Let us know in the comments below! Thank you for watching and we'll see you tomorrow with a new vid!

    I just wanted to tell you guys - I've been a long time viewer and love your videos. My daughter is 13 yo and has high-functioning autism and social issues and is VERY routine-driven. We're having our flooring ripped up and replaced this week and the chaos began to affect her. I decided to introduce her to your channel (she LOVES youtube vlogs). She was kind of wary at first but I told her, "Tim and Jenn and so calm and they do all sorts of fun stuff around Orlando. And they have the cutest dog! Believe me - you'll love it!" After watching a couple videos with me, she took off with my laptop and spent the day on our front porch, headphones on, watching your videos. (I think watching you guys wrestle the new spirit jersey on your pup won her over! LOL) When I wrestled my laptop away from her at dinnertime, she asked that I add your channel to her favs on TH-cam when we get our office set back up. So, you have a new fan!
    Thanks for keeping it clean and fun and calm and enjoyable for all ages!

      I had to pause the video and glance around for help understanding what I was seeing. 5 of what to appeared to be mini corn-dogs sitting alone on something that looked like it came from a charity shop. Sadly, I was alone in my room and no help came. I had to stew in my confusion for a few moments before I restarted the video.

      Actually Iberico ham here is around 18 euros a plate and gambas al ajillo is between 8 and 10, however they use much smaller shrimp here. I agree that the croquettes and patatas bravas were overpriced. Been here in Spain for 13 years and can´t wait to go to Jaleo in June when we are there. It is expensive but the ingredients he is using are top class.

    • @cancer239
      @cancer239 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sarah Watkins agreed, the shrimp are smaller here, but you can get lots more iberico ham here for a lower price. I’m amazed that a leg of ham here (in Menorca) is around 200euros where i would have to pay over $1000 on the United States. I miss the large shrimp in the US but these little guys will have to do!

    The Jamones is a pun on the Ramones, perhaps a little tribute by Jose Andres to his dear departed friend Anthony Bourdain. The Ramones were one of Tony's favorite bands. He had a punk rock sensibility.

    I loved it when Tim ate the olive with the pepper and anchovy ! He just started shaking his head "No". You're like me when I try something new, I immediately make a decision if I like it or not.
    I like a restaurant that has lower ceilings because I thinks the noise bounces so much in a room so large as that restaurant. To me it's hard to hear everyone and I feel that I am yelling instead of having a conversation.
    I like how you describe the dishes and include the heat level and how sweet things were. Jenn's potatoes should not of been sitting on a bed of something sweet. That combination doesn't sound right and I hope they adjust it.

    We have been going to the original Jaleo in Washington DC on and off for the past 14 years. It doesn't have the open kitchen and is much smaller, but we love to go there about once a year to enjoy the food. Agreed that the garlic shrimp is a must do. We also always start with the croquettes and the house made sausage. We are usually out of there for $75 to $100 per head. Not a cheap meal at all, but great flavors and very consistently executed.

  • @EChord1

    Croquetas are much tastier when made w ham. They begin w a bechemel sauce which is basically a white sauce. You start by lightly cooking flour in butter and then add milk slowly until you have a sauce. To that you add meat. Cuban croquetas have ground ham. You also grind up onion and garlic and add other seasonings. Then you cook that, constantly stirring, like pudding, until it pulls away from the pan. Then let it cool enough to handle, form it, then bread it and fry it. In Spain they tend to put cheese, but not as much ham.
    Cuban croquetas are tastier imo, but the ones I had at another Jaleo location were def the best Spanish ones I’d ever had.

    It looks like this food is pretty similar to the Jaleo in the DC area! I've been to Jaleo a bunch of times, and I have to say that the ham, croquettes, and shrimp are my absolute favorites! My family will take the bread and dip it in the shrimpy garlicky oil :). I hope you guys go back and try some more of the tapas and veggies, they have a good Spanish omlette and a fried vegetable that's good (can't remember if it's asparagus or green beans). Jaleo is a great place for big groups, makes the price much more worth it!

    I love this vlog. I moved to Menorca Spain in October and my husband’s family is Spanish/Menorquin. I love to see your reactions to Spanish food. Spanish home cooked food is rather “bland” by American standards. Garlic, onions. tomatoes and olive oil is the base for most of the cooking. The butifara and beans (sausage and beans) is a traditional meal. The croquettes are also a traditional tapa. The Patatas Bravas (potatoes) are also a traditional tapa...but it can be served a few different ways and it should be rather spicy...but not really sweet. The Spanish like the food to speak for itself which is why it may come across as “bland” to us Americans. There are many traditional meals that are also broth based and it is just meat, veggies and broth with pasta. Then, the meat and veggies are removed from the broth and the broth is served with pasta. Very bland, but delicious. The meat and veggies are served after the first course of the broth and pasta.
    My palette has changed since moving here for sure. Their sweet pastries are also not as “sweet” and sugary as American style. Which is why Spain was ranked healthiest country in the world. The Mediterranean diet is pretty awesome! Thanks for going outside your comfort zone and trying something new! Can’t wait for you all to try it again sometime. And if you ever come to Spain, hop over to the island of Menorca and I’ll show you around. 😊

    The Jamones = The Ramones. The Ramones are a band. They were super popular in the 70s and 80s. They sang songs like "I Wanna Be Sedated" and "Pet Sematary."

    Something that I noticed when I went to Florida, was that there was TOO much salt. (Especially the restaurants at Disney Springs) So perhaps Floridians prefer and are used to dishes being saltier?

      Alexandra Reid is that because they are actually being paid well or because they make money in tips? That’s the key thing.

    • @Sadstar658
      @Sadstar658 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jessie Lives Life I would hope for such expensive food they pay well over $5.

    • @gondorbunny
      @gondorbunny 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tips figure in as part of their salary. That is typical in ANY restaurant in the U.S. and has nothing to do with how expensive the food is. I will say, that usually top quality restaurants WILL pay servers more because they want the best, most experienced help for a more classy clientele. But restaurants are in the service industry and as such their wages are dictated by the state in which they operate.

    How do you stay so thin?!!? Geez, I am so jealous. I have said it before...I run...I freaking run marathons...I tend to keep my daily calories under 1,500. When I am not training for a marathon I run 60 miles a week. I am overweight. I don't get it. Tell me your secret!
