I just got one, sunburst as well. Mine came with a completely flamed/curly maple neck. Yeah sure you need to upgrade the nut at a minimum, the tuners aren’t great but, it’s a SOLID guitar. Going to throw in upgraded pups and a push pull pot for coil splits but yeah it’s an amazing semi hollow guitar for $300
Picking up one tomorrow in Black Really looking forward to it! More talk less rock is what I wanted I want to know about the guitar not how good it sounds on a 2000$ Marshall amp through a football field of pedals. Just wanted to know what people think about it on a casual level and I think I got my answer here. Thank you!
@@SloppyJoes_ShredShack hey thank you! It was by far the most informative video about this guitar Well I have you here, are their any owner details I should know about it? Necessary mods or things to look out for It seems like people are pretty split on the pickups, I like Grunge music but I do dabble in a bit of everything. Now that you’ve had it for a bit does it stay in tune decently well or should I look into locking tuners.
@@grungelives not Really it was a really solid guitar when I had it for a few days. The pickups felt good from what I remember. They were a little bit too dark for me but I didn't hate them at all. I think the pickups are good "all arounder"
@@SloppyJoes_ShredShack awesome thanks! Just picked it up today It looks and sounds great so far I’m guna keep messing with it but I’m really happy with, thanks again man your review really made me feel better about the deal I made.
I just got one (same color and all) this past week and I love how it plays. I plan to put a Seymour Duncan Custom pickup in the bridge (as used by Blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge as of 2022) and a Pearly Gates in the neck position, but it’s not bad as is.
I like gig bags over cases too! You know, that is something I never explored. I assume that they make oversize electric bags for hollow bodies??? I mean, that would make sense at least lol
Good to hear a little heavier stuff on this too, looking for a semi hollow to get some better sustain for doom metal than a solid body, know you were saying it might or might not handle more extreme metal but so much of that dark, low doom tone is the amp, pedal and tuning hearing this I'm sure it'll handle it Also even with the maple construction it sounds a little less bright and a bit more punchy than a lot of other semi hollows I've seen for the price, love the offset design too So yh cheers between this and the playthrough really helped me decide on this being what I'm going with
I am looking at the candy red one maybe. I just bought the squire contemporary active starcaster so im tapped out now tho...these look really nice tho for the price ???
i like your style man. subscibin'. and damn, i just bought the Earl 335, and was thinking i needed the IYV Jazz gtr-but that one is so similar i could use something from other end of spectrum. the candy apple version of this is on amazon right now, and she's a sweet baby indeed. later ps-actually this paintjob looks awesome too.
One of my first guitars was a 2010 Squire affinity strat that I tossed a Gibson dirty fingers pickup in the bridge of. For the price, that strat carried me for years until I eventually upgraded to my PRS custom 24. I'd say that thing's neck played almost as nice as my fender custom shop neck. Which is high praise for a 190 dollar geetar

So countersink the screws, sand the finish off the back of the neck and the neck pocket, glue it down, screw it down and clamp it. Wait a couple of days and either wood fill over the screws or remove them. Now it’s a set neck. Gonna be an issue if you desire to replace the neck
The humbuckers sound even less muddy without the plastic on top of them.

I have this one too I had to do some sanding of frets and wreching in place for the cable port but it's sweet
This is also good for 70s jazz rock like steely Dan covers

I have one. The black one and just love it. I have small hands. But I have no problem doing bar chords on this guitar. Yeah to the Star caster.
Not gonna lie. That guitar gets me kinda excited.
What's she like as her other half, an acoustic guitar?
Have you found a gig bag that fits this guitar? I know it should probably be a hardshell but I find those really cumbersome. Thanks!

@@SloppyJoes_ShredShack lol, yes it would make sense but I've never seen anyone mention it.
Any gig bag for a bigger 335 should work. You need upper bout clearance at 13” and the bottom at 16” IIRC off hand.
it fits great in a Fender offset soft case.....

5 months later, are you happy with it?
Bought a red one for country blues. Good for slide too.

I don't know if it is just cheaper in the UK but I can get this guitar for about £230
Your money is just better than ours right now.
You were my excuse to get one x)
Love to hear it!!!

its too bad they dont offer it in a 12" radius so i`m gonna put a strat neck on mine
You don't have a bolt on neck on a semi-hollow guitar! They also can't match humbucker or bridge to Epiphone!
I got one just because I'm used to the longer scale length. I did swap the humbuckers but the bridge is just as good as any epiphone i've ever had.

Fender has nothing over Gibson with semi-hollow guitars!
