Using Trimble at the moment, is HILTI harder to use than Trimble?

Once we’re set up and let’s say battery dies or we go to lunch and turn it off. Do we have to re set up on points or can we keep going if nothing moved?

You can keep going if nothing moved. My only recommendation is to "re-layout" a point or two that you had just done before the break to make sure you are still spot on. I've notice most total station users keep one or two "Back Sight" points - known as BS points haha - that are just used as these checks. Every time they station, they head to a BS point to see if they are falling on it perfectly like on previous stationings.

@@measuringsystems869 thank you. I just hate having to re set up for break or lunch.. Also I just got a new plc 600. Does this tablet run the same as the other Hilti tablets? And is there a setting to make the screen not so sensitive to the pen?

@@javibarajas9379 plc 600 runs the same as it would on the other windows 10 tablet, yes. And not sure about snsitivity to the pen - other than the "panasonic PC settings" app, i haven't had to go anywhere else to adjust touch screen settings

Can you do a tutorial on how to make your own building line, say with a foundation hole in the ground or an existing building, starting with a empty project. I've been having trouble making this machine useful when lining up additions to out-of-sqaure existing buildings.

Yes, happy to do that. I want to understand further, though... Are you basically doing an as-built of an existing building and then attempting to pull dimensions off of the lines you measure to determine where to place new structures?

@@measuringsystems869 basically what I've been doing is measuring my own lines off the sides of the existing building that they want it lined up with. I do this by using a tape, a string, and some stakes. I spend a good amount of time doing this and I'm wondering if there is a faster way to do it using the total station.
If I could get a demonstration of the capabilities of the building line mode that would be great.
Also maybe an in depth explanation of what a bad station will do to my layout. (I stationed the device as terribly as it would let me and while the layout did shift altogether, the points were still the correct distance and they were still square with each other).

@@christopherlehman626 Great question. I can do a more comprehensive Building Line layout video. What you're doing is VERY easy with Building line. And regarding what the station does: there is a stationing basics video on the playlist, but essentially, the tool will ALWAYS layout things properly, what might change, though, is WHERE those objects are placed, which completely depends on HOW you station. If your control points are slightly innaccurate, the total station will sill try to "move" where you measured them to get the best fit to make it as close to the designed plan as possible. So, let's say that all your control points are off by a 1/4" to the East (for example). The total station will still layout out the plan accurately, but yes, the points will all be off about a 1/4" to the east.

@@christopherlehman626 Is this video sufficient? It's one of the videos that already exists. It goes through the basics of building line and how to pull offsets and angles. Let me know th-cam.com/video/7qQ4G4ATUPo/w-d-xo.html
