Puppies growing up from puppy to dog.
What happens the first eight weeks of puppies' lives?
On the first week the puppies will just eat and try to stay warm.
Second week their eyes start to open, they open on the 14th day.
That helps them regulate their temperature.
On the third week you start noticing that the puppies ears has opened and they start to hear you.
They also try to walk at around the third week and start playing more and more with their siblings.
On the fourth week they begin to eat real food and can walk properly so they are more independent. And socialize more.
All that makes it important that the puppies stay with their mother atleast eight weeks.

I have an orphaned puppy. His mother died while giving birth to his siblings unfortunately. He is the only survivor and I'm doing my best to nurse and raise him. He's a miracle. 🤍

Are there eyelids sealed until then or have their muscles there not developed sufficiently for them to open their eyes?
@@ppuh6tfrz646 i Dont think the eye is fully formed. You could look it up, its also probably the same thing with the ears
@@gawdlysiinz5134 I looked it up but couldn't find anything that explained why the eyelids stay closed and what causes them to finally open.
@@ppuh6tfrz646 eyes aren't fully developed after birth. If they open their eyes too soon they are goint to have a bad eye sight that's not good

Our first week of raising the puppies we experienced incredible hardship. Leaving the dog alone with her pup for an hour or two and then coming to find one or two dead when they alive and well before. The mother was so exausted from lack of sleep she just disnt give AF after 48 hours and started laying on them without moving. Their biggest threat other than adequate warmth, food was the mother laying on them. Had to bury 3 puppies (and one mysteriously, completely dissapeared)

So glad to hear u say & affirm that pups need to stay w/their mother at least to 8 wks, as they are too young to be separated before.

A dog gave birth to 6 puppies. It was rainy season. I took care of them very well, took them to vet but 5 puppies died in few month as they fell sick. I miss them. I hope and pray they are happy whenever they are. Only one puppy survived his name is brownie. I love him a lot and take care of him.

Not always the 14 day sometimes it takes up to 17 days. Normally if it takes to long the need a vet trip.
My LAB Gave exactly 9 pups 4 days prior nd im so excited to take care of them [And sell them off ofc]

Hi! So you can use wood shavings to put in their kiddie pool? I did not know that. We have been using blankets but they keep getting all wet and dirty with pee etc. Is using wood shavings a safe alternative? how often do you change them, is it every day?
