It is a good idea, but it is very easy to roll backwards on it wile working on the floor, it also uses your glute muscles ALOT, and can get very tiering, also it develops blisters on your knees slightly worse than your average knee pads from my experience, but still it’s a very good idea but could use some small design tweaks
If you live in hot area during day and cold during night, you must wet or spray the back of tiles before install it or submerge into water for half and hour. The water that stick in micro pores of tile act as vehicle for cement mixture to penetrate into micro pores on the back of tile to create strong bond.
Thinset sticks better to the back of the tiles when the tiles are dry. As a master tilesetter, I learn from best. However, he should back better the back of tiles for proper installation and push tile down in cement before wedging the clips
Also depends on where the tile is being placed since it’s floor tile I don’t think you’re worried about creating the maximum bonding strength say as you would when installing on roofs

I genuinely need to understand why the adhesive is given groves and why you have to have gaps between tiles. We'll eventually be updating our first home by ourselves and trying to understand how and why for everything.
It's so that the air can escape and the tile can actually bond perfect to the thinset and the gaps are so you can grout later which gives it the really good finish

Buttering the tile is needed, but what is worse, it appears you are placing the tile directly on the concrete floor. That tile will crack with the concrete. It is a bad installation in my opinion. I know because I have a home that I bought where they did exactly that. Concrete cracks normally, but every tile adhered to it also cracks with it. You need a barrier.
How do U remove the spacers after the tile sets in place?? Also, my 2nd floor bathroom floor tile is loose, only 2-3 tiles…below is the garage and there’s no insulation in between. Does the varying temps cause the tiles to loosen?? I’m just trying to figure out why the grout keeps breaking and how to fix the loose tiles. Do I have to reset them or does that caulking glue “fix a floor” work? Thanks!!! :)
You kick the sides of the spacers, so it will break, you only reuse the wedges, if some spacers get stuck, you can use a plier or a utility knife to cut it About the tiles, does it have cement board under the bathroom tiles or does it only have plywood?
The groves allow the air to escape when you drop the tile in, helps to gain better coverage, you move the tile 90° to them to collapse them after laying it. Gives proper coverage and no hollow spots.
90% of tiles are "directional", meaning slightly different in size. If you use spacers and not direction you will have trouble. Amateurs use spacers..tradesman use their tape measure and their hands.

It always full bondage to tile also it keeps the tile elevated to where u need it.
