Can you make cliffs/chapters on your videos for those of us that don’t have time for 90 minutes random talk about handsetting and just want pros and cons for this rule change?
@@gtmeteor Very good and legit question. Maybe I'm a "sloppy journalist" here, but I am basing this on a private message from someone who was at the meeting where the decision was voted through (I won't mention any names), it does indeed look like there is no official announcement yet. The fact that I might end up delivering false news did cross my mind (since it is not officially confirmed yet), but I realized that it would still make sense to make this episode even in the unlikely case that this would be "fake news" in the end, because 99% of the episode and blogpost talks about the issue at hand rather than the news part of it, and there are a lot of people all over the world that seem to think that removing the rule would be a good idea, so I think that discussing it is simply just a good idea for the future of our sport! Hope that makes sense. But yes, now I do hope that the official announcement will come soon to "save my ass" to some degree..! :)
@@gtmeteor Yess! Considering how many seem to be positive towards removing the rule, I'm happy I brought up some counterarguments that I believe most people who want to remove the rule haven't considered, regardless of if Sweden removing the rule would end up being false or not! I'm not saying I have all the answers, but I'm wishing that before someone votes for removing one of the most classic and possibly important rules in our sport in any type of boardroom meeting or similar, I wish they would be properly informed..! :)
@@LearnBeachVolleyballFast well, concidering NCAA are already experimenting with it... I personally kind of as well leaning more on the side of removing it... Would help the sport in lower levels, and it's not really that relevant on high mastery... But I haven't given that much thought yet 😅
@@gtmeteor Haha yeah.. I can agree with removing it for lower levels, but for high mastery I think it is one of the most important rules, unless we want to make beach volleyball a pretty damn different sport than it is today..! But maybe this Sweden experiment will give some real life data rather than only speculations! :)
Finally. Rule should be no double touch rule. Unless is more than obvious. Like 2 or more seconds delay. Otherwise there will no be fault. No carry/lift or double should be called. Unless ball remain more than 2 seconds in hands.
@@LORDVADER357 Haha yeah, I'm a bit surprised actually about how many people seem to have this stance. But I agree it might be very good for lower level competitions to remove the rule or be extremely relaxed with it. I actually like that you propose also lifting rules to be relaxed together with the double rule, because I believe the best route to learn a truly good handset is through "lifting too much" for a while until the hands learn the touch, and then speeding this "soft touch" up over time. Removing doubles but being strict with lifting I think will create tons of players that will simply never develop the good soft touch. I think relaxation in rules could be accompanied with total ban of handsets over the net, and handsets as first touches (overhand defense on hard driven balls could still be in place.) But for high level beach volleyball I very much think the double touch (and lift) rule should be there, otherwise we are fundamentally making the sport into not a completely different sport, but a 'very' different sport than it is today. The relaxed rules at lower levels I think should be to lower entry requirements and to help people learn good handsetting so they one day can play the proper version of the game, not as a final destination..! (My opinion.)
@LearnBeachVolleyballFast On top level of the sport will be awesome as well. Just like indoor volleyball 🏐. It will become fast paced action. On top level bar will be raised. Players will have to expect the ball 🏐 at any given time. From every possible angle. When oponent is handseting to your side on the second shot or even instantly to return the ball 🏐 back from your serve will sharpen your senses and awareness a lot more.

Where's the source for the change? Can't find it.

@LearnBeachVolleyballFast thanks for the clarification!
