    6:50 the transform cards that exile are the ones that care abut ETB on the back side, the origins flip walkers that needed their ETB to get loyalty counters, the praetors here need that ETB to A) set off the first chapter of the saga immediately, but more importantly, to remove the lore counters when it transforms back into the praetor, so when you transform it again it doesn't immediately sacrifice itself to having it's last counter already on it and not having the ability from that chapter on stack, letting the flip be slow repeatable. And like almost all other flicker effects in magic, the card re-enters under it's owner's control.

    A little advice, if you need at least 3 lands to play in MTGA, never start a hand with 2 lands, I think the game's programmed to not give you the third land most of the times. It's one of those weird things about Arena's programming.

      Honestly, while you might think you're seeing that pattern, unless you've actually recorded thousands of games with 2 land openings to see if you draw a 3rd in some sort of long term study, it's probably just confirmation bias. Your memory is just emphasizing the games where you got screwed by it, making them seem more significant/common, it's a pretty normal thing for our brains to screw up.

    • @lambda6736
      @lambda6736 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is not true for Bo1, where there IS a known smoothing algorithm. Ive played several decks that I owned on paper in Bo1 and they do not play the same.
      For Bo3 the shuffler feels like paper magic, but the matchups can be quite skewed. Could be small sample bias, of course, but I would be curious what true deck popularity stats are.

    • @thaddeusgenhelm8979
      @thaddeusgenhelm8979 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lambda6736 I'll admit, I did not know about the shuffle smoother or its weird biases towards mana issues in the case of non-mulligan'd hands in Bo1. Granted, the main thread I can find discussing it is like 4 years old, last updated... Like three years ago or so? So I don't know if Arena is using the same shuffling unchanged after all this time, but it is interesting that there was at least a period where there was a statistically detectable level of bias towards mana droughts/floods based on starting hand (before your first mulligan) as an observable phenomenon.

    • @lambda6736
      @lambda6736 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thaddeusgenhelm8979 Its either been changed or talk of it was stomped out (depending on who you ask).
      I cant say for sure; it was around the release of Kaladesh on Arena that I built some decks and Bo1 felt *nothing* like the paper. I even did some side-by-sides for fun.

    This deck is also surprisingly good in BO1. I wouldn't expect a deck like this to perform so good in a meta of Aggro, but I played several matches and won the majority. One thing that I did though is to remove the Amonkhets (I know the idea is to mill Etali, destroy the battle and copy Etali early in the game but most of the time you won't be able to destroy the battle with just 4 Bloodtithe Harversters on the deck and 2 Nahiris, I think it's a risk you take milling yourself out and possibly missing land drops because of that (or a good spell like Big Score for turn 4). I replaced with 1 Jin Gitaxias and 1 Invasion of Fiora. Jin can be cast for free with Etali or returned with Breach and generates much value countering spells and copying for you, you can untap with Jin, cast a Breach or a Big Score, both would generate alot of value. If you have Chandra on the field too then that's crazy, inst/sorc copied twice. The Invasion of Fiora can help you survive against Aggro and you can target only non-legendary creatures to keep Etali and Jin.
