In Akan language, we've got something we call loaned words. Most of the stuffs the British brought to Ghana were new to us, hence, we had no Akan names for them. And the alphabets were not the same. So we Ghanaians had to creat a suitable name with our alphabets. Examples of these loaned words in Ghana 🇬🇭 are: Shirt = sheete. The two ees are pronounced like air in Ghana 🇬🇭..we also have something like khaki = kakii in Ghana. So, soldier= soja. We clarify them as very strong. So ,be a soldier, and don't let anyone touch you.
Wow... I’m speechless!!😮🤭, thanks for this wonderful language breakdown🥂 But quick question is Akan language and Twi the same cos someone in the comment section mentioned Twi as the language “Soja” originated from
The Akan language comprises of 3 twi speaking people. We have Asante twi, Nfante twi and akuapem twi.All the Asantes are under Asante twi, and si on. We have other tribes like bono, from the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana who also speaks twi. But that is in written, so we do clicify them ad Akans, even though, we understand each other. I did Akan at A Levels, and, we only had Asante twi, Akuapem twi and Nfante twi in 1994. I'm not sure ,if more has been added. Anything you would like to know about Ghana, don't hesitate to ask me. I'm based in London. Take care
I am a Nigerian but I lived in Ghana Volta region the guy is good but his senior once in industry couldn't let the guy be everybody is afraid that what they're fighting for years black Sharif is coming to take it I mean Grammy award

I will say it’s Blacko’s colloquial way of pronouncing the real word “soldier” as “soja”. I believe this puts the song in a more relatable manner for the “streets” or should I say “trenches” 😀😀. Just as Oxlade will label “closer” as “Ku lo sa” to give it a casual feel. Greetings from Ghana 🇬🇭 🇬🇭🇬🇭
Rip to that brave man ! I recently saw a video about the 4 university boys in Nigeria "aluu4" and it made me remember that soldier in Ghana who died the same way ! Very sad 😢
This season is a very dark one, I think he meant, whenever you come close to achieving anything important you can lose it all or the failure or if you fail the effects can be catastrophic. There is a saying in Ghana, where there's sweetness there's bitterness and that comes from the animal liver and next to it is something bitter that when slaughtering you have to be careful not cut that as it will make the meat bitter well at least that area. Hope some Ghanaians that knows the proverbs can explain better. In short, be careful when you come so close to winning. This also has another meaning in Ghana three young talents passed away through road accidents when they were close to countrywide domination in their fields, one from the movie industry and two in the music industry. I hope I have done justice to the meaning. I stand to be corrected though, one love
Wow!!😮👏🏾... you did real justice to it. Thanks so much preciate your thoughts, i personally picked “being very careful when close to success” - DEEP FACT!
SOJA is our way Ghanaian way of pronouncing soldier just like how some Nigerians will say “ sin card instead of some card or “ how Nigerians say “ son- tine’s. There are many words Nigerians pronounce their way. We have have same here .

Yes in Ghana old folks pronounce it soja. Its still referring to the same soldier. I guess it'd one of the effects of British English we Africans trying to make it our own. 😄 🤣 😂

This season is a very dark one, hes refering to the anxiety for the cross-over of where he's coming from and where he's seeing himself
Now that sounds really DARK!😮💨
It’s play on words, soldier is pronounced Soja in Twi.
Yeah TWI😁🥂... knowing more about Ghana is cool🤭, big ups y’all🇬🇭
The way you Nigerians say coome😂😂😂 instead of come like the simple British way so soldier we too we can say soja
Fair enough, can’t lie the “coome” got me laughing😂😂😭
You are funny bro traveler turn soja
😂🥂
Same words just lake Nigeria aka 9ja or 9- geria, this is just a vocal letters for writing music, some as soldier

Soja is street rendition of Soldier so he's using street language
