TET Trans Euro Trail - Cornwall - Chapter 01 'Kicking off'

  • The 'Great Western Trail' is part of the Trans Euro Trail (aka the TET) that goes down through Cornwall.
    I thought I would document it and highlight any hazards along the way. As a newish rider, (on a Fantic Caballero Rally 500) I thought I could provide other new TET riders with pointers for what to watch out for along the way.
    This is chapter 01, which goes from Praze-An-Beeble (near Camborne) to Lands End.

    What a great video. I am just getting into biking and would love to do something like this so good to see what it is like for a newish rider.

      It’s funny to look back on these.
      I’ve done all of Cornwall/Devon TET now ( and beyond) and the bits I thought were tricky when I started out are easy now. :)
      But it’s still a great way to see bits of the county I didn’t know about.

    Good stuff. Looking at doing all of the TET through Cornwall and Devon. I was hoping to do Cornwall in one day, but I might rethink that after watching this.

      i really was going slow and taking my time, but bare in mind this was in best case conditions. i just went out today and did a bit near fourlanes/st.day. and got stuck. had to turn around. complete bog right now. (but i am on stock tyres on my T7 still... would have made it with proper knobblies)

      I’ll be on a Himalayan, and with very little off road experience. You are filling me with confidence 🥴
      I love the T7 by the way. I was admiring one while my Z was in for service. I considered chopping the Z in for one.

      @@Saddlebags73 Himalayan will be grand on the tricky slow stuff.
      Just not as fun on the fast roads (as a T7 or similar)
      I wished I was on a lighter bike when I got stuck in mud today.
      So much grunting to turn it around knee deep in mud.

    • @Saddlebags73
      @Saddlebags73 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the she’ll do ok with knobbly tyres. Definitely not a light bike though. Mud is hard work eh.

    Brilliant video, and just the thing I've been looking for. No-one wants to grade the rides (usually putting people who have asked for them down), and this is perfect. Can't wait to get my licence and get out on the GWT!

      Nice bike choice! They look great, did think about one of those. Glad vids are helpful. The latest episode (chapter07) was hardest section for me so far. (And my riding has improved since episode 01 too) So bare in mind there is some proper tricky bits high up near the Devon border. So if you can handle that, you should be able to handle the rest without a problem.

    • @biscuitsalive
      @biscuitsalive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also bare in mind i did the first chapter going the wrong way round (anticlockwise), I realised that and did the rest of the GWT going the right way. Just so you know, so downhills become uphills etc.

      @@biscuitsalive Thanks for the tips! So far the Himalayan has been amazing for me as a novice. I thought I better up-skill/up-confidence myself a bit so did a day at Sweetlamb learning the basics of off-road riding and have just done a couple of days at Dorothy's Speed Shop with Nathan Millward (@nathanthepostman) in Braunton hitting some green lanes (both literally and metaphorically) and going over basic maintenance, packing and tools for adventure riding. Just what I needed. Now your vids give me the confidence to go and try a bit of the TET!
      I did want to ask why you sold the CRF? Just too low powered?

      @@robholder5825 the crf250 was a great first bike.
      And if I was ONLY using it for off road I prob wouldn’t have changed it. But inevitably you end up doing lots of roads just to get to trails. That’s when the lack of power starts to annoy. On the faster roads.
      I’ve just changed again too. Got a tenere700 now.
      I may regret this down the line as it’s much heavier. But enjoying it so far. (So smooth)
      Part of getting into a new thing is experimenting and finding out what suits you, so I’m still in that stage at the moment.

      It’s just when you are heading into a muddy lane that you don’t know, and wonder if you are going to have to turn around in a narrow slippy muddy section that the adventure style bike holds you back.
      Where as if you have something under 150kg you would probably just go in with confidence.
