yes but you will have to change the potentiometer otherwise it will not work properly

For an eye, IR light is safe or not??

How to check sensor working condition sir?
By finger you can check.
Just connect VCC and gnd and check the sensitivity if led is going on and off according to your finger detection then sensor is proper
