    The melody for the Alto/Tenor Aria (Sein Allmacht zu ergründen) is the theme of Max Reger's Piano Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Bach, Op. 81

    Very transparent performance of this heavenly music due to the speed

    FYI: the aria was used as the theme for Reger's rather famous Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Bach. th-cam.com/video/NDCdKS1Iaus/w-d-xo.html

    Højtidelig og seriøs pompøs musik og solosang......

    A very nice performance. Unfortunately, for me it is clouded once more by the fact that the alto solo parts are sung by a man. Unfortunately, female contraltos are rare today. Women can sing alto better than men. At least I think so.

    A very inspired melodic line. A party for the oboe. I really love the this kind of musical form of mr Bach.

    BWV 128 - "On the Ascension of Christ alone"

    Cantata for Ascension
    1. Choir
    On the Ascension of Christ alone
    I base my departure
    And with this I
    always overcome all doubts, fear and pain ;
    For because the head is in heaven,
    Jesus Christ will make up for his members in due
    time.
    ("On the Ascension of Christ alone," verse 1)
    1. Chorus
    On Christ's ascension into heaven alone
    I base my own ensuing journey,
    and all doubt, fear and pain
    I overcome by this means constantly;
    for since the Head is in heaven,
    Jesus Christ will draw His limbs
    up with Him at the right time.
    2. Recitative T
    I'm ready, come get me!
    Here in the world there
    is misery, fear and pain;
    But there, in Salem's tent,
    I will be transfigured.
    There I see God face to face,
    As his holy word promises me.
    2. Recitative T
    I am ready, come, take me!
    Here in the world
    are suffering, fear, and pain;
    over there, in the courts of Salem,
    I shall be transfigured.
    There I see God face to face,
    as His holy word promises me.
    3. Aria and recitative B
    Auf, auf, with a bright sound
    Announce everywhere:
    my Jesus is sitting on the right!
    Who is trying to challenge me?
    If he is taken from me,
    I will one day come to

    where my Redeemer lives.
    My eyes will see him with the greatest clarity.
    Oh, can I build myself a hut in advance!
    Where? Forgiven wish!
    He does not live on mountains and valleys,
    His omnipotence shows up everywhere;
    So silent, daring mouth;
    And do not seek to fathom the same!
    3. Aria and Recitative B
    Up, up, with clarion ring
    proclaim everywhere:
    my Jesus sits at the right hand!
    Who seeks to tempt me?
    If He is taken from me,
    one day I will journey there,

    where my Redeemer lives.
    My eyes will behold Him in the greatest clarity.
    O could I only build Him a tabernacle beforehand!
    Where? Vain wish!
    He does not live on mountain or valley,
    His omnipotence is visible everywhere;
    so be silent, rash mouth;
    and do not attempt to fathom this very thing!
    4. Aria (Duet) AT
    To fathom his omnipotence,
    There will be no man,
    My mouth falls silent and is silent.
    I see through the stars
    That he shows himself from afar at
    the right hand of God.
    4. Aria (Duet) AT
    To fathom His omnipotence
    no human can discern,
    my mouth is dumb and silent.
    I see through the stars
    that He already from afar
    indicates the right hand of God.
    5. Choral
    Then you will put me
    at your right hand
    And pass
    a gracious judgment on me as your child ,
    bring me to the pleasure,
    where your glory
    I will look on
    in all eternity.
    ("O Jesus, my lust," verse 4)
    5. Chorale
    Therefore You shall
    place me at Your right hand
    and bestow on me, as Your child,
    a gracious inheritance,
    bringing me to joy,
    where Your glory
    I shall behold
    in all eternity.
