Yes! Diverse reading makes the reading experience so much richer. I’m have a banned book project starting this month and after your inspiring video on the topic, I’m working on making it a much more global focus. :) It’s going to delve into the history a bit too.

I'm so glad you mentioned Scott's channel, Gunpowder Fiction and Plot! I agree that his "banned" books list is eye opening. He makes a great point that if a "banned" book can be found at the local bookstore, is it really unavailable?? I look forward to joining you and Scott in looking outside the U.S. for influential and subversive writing.
Yes! Scott is brilliant and absolutely one of my favorite booktubers. That video in particular was spectacular and really made me think a lot. I do still think a locally banned book can be considered banned and that in areas where book banning is more common, they are often targeted in more than just school libraries. I don’t know that I’ll be quite as eloquent and thoughtful as Scott is on the topic, but I do plan to delve a lot into the history and hopefully find some new books as well. We will have to agree to disagree. In almost all of the cases where books are being banned in schools, it is for very benign references to race, gender, etc. I do not think that diversity is something children should be sheltered from. I am happy to hear that you don’t agree with book banning on the whole. This part we agree on. :)

Some books need to be banned from elementary school not completely banned
We will have to agree to disagree. In almost all of the cases where books are being banned in schools, it is for very benign references to race, gender, etc. I do not think that diversity is something children should be sheltered from.
