I have my own theory were Hetty does have the power to banish other ghosts to hell but it only works of the ghost she says it to is evil. So in that case none of the others have anything to worry about.
I've been a fan of Rebecca Wisocky since Devious Maids and was always happy to see her in guest roles after that show ended. Love her Hetty character! I just rewatched season 1. In a way, it was even funnier because I picked up on things I either forgot or didn't notice the first time I watched. I hope this show has a long run and the cast stays as close-knit until the end as they are now.
I'm hoping that in Season 3 Hetty finds out she has a strong line of Irish descendants :-) Sam can do an ancestry DNA test. That would be a fun story line. Hetty is constantly evolving and learning to be kinder. Getting over the prejudice of the Irish would be a great step for the character.
I am not one to watch the weekly shows, at least not until Ghosts. Rebecca and the crew are amazing. These people take the scripts and interject such warmth and humor. Thank you
Do yourself a favor and look the BBC Ghosts. This show(CBS's 2021 "Ghosts") is based on, its only has 6 episodes a year (it's a British thing...) and now has 4 seasons for 24 episodes, the 3rd and 4th season had a Christmas special so that is 26 episodes to enjoy in easily binge about 6 episodes counts. As of my comment season 2 of this version is on S02E17 for 30 episodes, surpassing the original episode count. This one, The American "Ghosts" is known as the CBS 2021 "Ghosts" where the British is the BBC 2019 "Ghosts". Same canonical universe for conditions and rules, but due to the different location and historical periods they have different(there are a few similar aka oh that's the American version of that character....) ghosts and humor. If like British humor you doubly love the dry wit on top of the regular humor. I won't spoil anything but even while you watching the same start up of explaining the rules of the story world(the CBS show couldn't count on the audience seeing the other country's version to know) and playing oh that that's cast version of ghost so and so.... Once you get through that in the first few episodes, their casts will take off and you enjoy it different show. Kinda of like a TV series spin off without the spin off baggage or annoying tie ins.
From the beginning Hetty was my favorite character. Thor caught my eye, of course. Because you know, I'm a slut, but Hetty had that regal elegance of a Victorian woman that enslaves my mind. A woman with all the power, but doesn't see it. She was the queen of her castle, and never realized it. It's sad, but great lesson for us all.
Rebecca Wisocky is one of HE MOST AMAZING actresses I've seen in a long time. She should e amonvst the MAIN STREAM HOLLYWOOD ilk of Movie stars, as in my humble opinion, her natural talent and totally real portrayal of her character, puts her acting prowess on a league of her own, which surpasses even some of the so-called "Brilliant 'actressess' who, beyond comprehension, actuly win Oscars. Sadly, nowadays true talent is ignored.
The show’s sweet spot is the introduction of new ghosts. I find that so fun, for example the car ghost. I hope the show runners see this… the episodes with different ghosts and different kinds of ghosts is so much fun to watch. Do it more!
Watched 5 episodes of "Ghosts", so far. And loved every single one of them!! A very well made & funny show, indeed. All the characters are strong, interesting & very funny too!! Love it!! 👍👍
Because our ancestral society was a WASP country(and zealously proud of it to a fault!), they loathed anyone or anything that reminded them of Catholic & Papist theology which meant that any ethnic group that worshipped that way was fair game(including the Irish) for all sorts of vile, reprehensible pejoratives, calumny and slurs until the presidential campaign of 1960 where a considerable part of the electorate opined that JFK was a foreign agent of Vatican City and that he'd be a puppet of Popes John XXIII and Paul VI during a possible two-term administration; since that didn't happen, that's when being Catholic was acceptable & ditto with the Irish-Americans
She could've just died from something like a heart attack or stroke, or maybe falling down the stairs like Sam. She was the most worried of all when Sam fell, so there are theories thats how she died.
Here's a thoght. Hetty has a daughter who marries a cad and dies in childbirth. The daughter gets "sucked off". Hetty then must raise the grandchild. She remains emotionally distant in order to avoid the pain of potential loss
