    Do you see why Dutch bikes have skirt guards and chain guards? To save a € 10,000 Taminiau dress from getting ruined.

      The first time the Netherlands saw a queen (queen Wilhelmina, the great grandmother of King Willem Alexander) cycling in a dress (or a skirt?) was in the 1930's. Women didn't wear trousers back then, so wearing a dress on a bike was normal in the Netherlands (and still is).

    Maxima is awesome and always on point at the job.
    And to prove she is a natural cyclist: she's obviously comfortable stepping on the bike, even in a nice dress and heels, but at 4:14 when they ride the bikes and turn on the intersection out of reflex she does the hand turn signal indication. There is police escort, a blocked road and dignitaries following her as the VIP and press and everything, but you just got to do the wavy hand thing, it is the way.

      @dutchman7623 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Saw it too! And what about the explanation about the bicycle? She kept her Royal dignity.
      Even when riding she didn't take off as usual, but gently kept it slow so the rest could follow.
      Would really like to see a Lucky TV on this one!!!
      Especially about the doggy mat she had to stand on... 😜

    These silly cops with full face helmets, followed by the Dutch Queen (from Argentina) in a long dress and high heels. Hilarious ! Another thing, by departure, she was the only one who stuck out her arm, indicating she wanted to go left ! Well done, Maxima.

      To be honest I can see why bike police has a full face helmet as default gear.
      At least if they do comparable things like the Dutch bike police. Jumping of your bike over your handle bars to tackle an individual for example can be quite dangerous when done incorrectly.
      Bike police really should be seen like speed cycling/mountain biking/bmxing

    Those orange bikes look a bit like mountainbikes, not the typical Dutch bikes. A Dutch bike is much more comfortable than a bike that was made for riding on rough terrain. The steering wheel / handlebar is different from a Dutch bike. I notice some of the other people were on a Dutch bike, much nicer for your hands and arms when you hold the steering wheel while riding.
