Great review of Gill's life and this album. Imagine what could have happened if he met Oscar Peterson in Montreal or Toronto and they worked together 😃 For stereo edition the new Acoustic Sounds series is just amazing! All-analog, cut from master tape and gives this album its audiophile merit.
I wonder what you would make of the lesser known companion to this, Into The Hot... maybe you know it already. It's an odd split record with half featuring pieces written by Johnny Carisi, while the other other half is a band led by Cecil Taylor. The Carisi pieces are very atmospheric, rather trippy I find, though they weren't recognized by many critics or listeners at the time. It's a very curious record that is worthy of consideration just for having Evans' name on it.
Hi Alan, hope all is well. Awesome video. I know nothing but this album, but you got me wanted to listen to it. Thank you. Sounds like a cool album. Thank you my friend. Have a wonderful one
Thanks Joey. It's a change of pace from some of the stuff I talk about on here, but then I guess the Impulse catalogue is full of changes of pace. Cheers.
@@TenMinuteRecordReviews I am always impressed by your videos. Great work. Than k you so much! When not DJing.... I really like Jazz/instrumental music. It is enjoyable, turning off the mind and not counting bars or figure it out when to drop in the next song. Thank you my friend. Cheers
@@TenMinuteRecordReviews I couldn't get that Tone Poet Bass on Top. You are right the Canada Amazon has it but won't ship to me. I wonder if you be interest in buying it for me and ship to my home. I will pay in advance. But don't know if shipping would be expensive. Thank you my friend and have a wonderful one. Cheers

I bet. I’m tempted!
Great review. Thanks for bringing attention to Gil 😀
My pleasure. And thank you!
Thanks to your reviews, I’ve been introduced to new (to me) albums.
Glad to hear it!

Funny you should ask that as I picked that up recently but haven’t had time to play it yet. Will report back when I have.

@@djjoeykmusic Hi Joey I think that’s a bridge too far for me. My guess is if you’re patient on Discogs you can pick up a copy eventually.
