Chillin at work, headphone in one ear, cappuccino in the mug, rainy cool spring morning with that fresh rain smell coming in from the open garage near me. Vibe and a half.
The city has a habit of swallowing a man, piece by piece. First it's the little things, childhood hopes and dreams, things you part with because you think it's part of growing up. Next comes your good sense, and your faith in people... Next it's your morals. Finally, it takes your pride, and you start to wonder how you could have fallen so far. But it ain't the falling that's hard... It's the sudden stop at the end.
I feel like H Jon Benjamin, the voice actor playing Bob from the Bob's Burgers animation series, (or you might know the Archer animation series in which he played Archer), would be perfect for your script.
The beat of my footsteps echoed in the underpass, in time with the legato rhythm of the rain. Thoughts of her drifted through my mind as they wafted along, with the exhaled smoke from my cigarette, into the darkness of the shadowed night . . . . .
Parecería escucharse cual una música lejana, pero se advierte pronto que viene directamente del sentimiento profundo para la paz del Alma. Pura belleza sonora.
"There I was, alone at that old and dirty diner, having a late meal or an early breakfast, like it mattered at all. Coffe was cold and bitter just like my ex-wife, while toasts were crumbling worse than my bank account and bacon was past its expiration date, same as my dreams. My innards complained that cheap omelette was a bad decision, just one more in my long list of bad decisions. Adding refried beans was an even worse one. I hurried to the bathroom like a chased rat up a drainpipe. The "Out of Order" sign stopped me deader than a fly in the web. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. I just stood there accepting that my time had ran out. Just suck it up, Buster. Such is life."
Rainy day, stuck in traffic, big city buildings around me.... wondering what the hell I am doing here and how can I press restart button as I see myself dying.
....As I was sitting at the bar going on my 4 or 5th whiskey, listening to some nice soft jazz being played in the dark bar and as always thinking back to the one I let slip away in my delicious booze-induced fog... Then I heard the front door swing open and saw a woman’s figure in a raincoat, stepping into the dark bar and removing her rain soaked hat, letting loose her long blond hair as if slow motion. She looked around the room...and what seemed to focus on me as she started walking my way. I'd been a gumshoe for decades, seen it all, done it all. But something about this woman, this blonde woman with her haunting eyes and the way she walked, drew me in. As she approached, I caught a whiff of her perfume, a scent that was both intoxicating and mysterious, a scent that seemed to promise danger and intrigue....
Wo there i was, corner of 9th and 3rd in Tony's diner. Man makes a mean patty melt, even if the doctors said i need to watch the cholesterol. Lady with a pretty face comes in asking for me- thanks Dolores, i did forget ehat time it was. Sorry to make ya worry. What? Sleuthing? No, most of that o do is wondering where my dog hid my hat in the morning or where the keys went these days. Got too risky after the first close call nearly cost me my life. Besides, desk work ain't that bad.
FYI - This is NOT smooth jazz. This is "cool jazz". Smooth jazz sucks, honestly, and it made me almost not click! This playlist is great. It is noir, dark, and cool. But not smooth! Kenny G is smooth jazz.

Very noir!
Or perhaps, choose nor to be swallowed one day at time.

Very cool, love it. Thanks
Like Woody Allen said, "I don't mind dying; I just don't want to be there when it happens."

what chair is that?
"She has more curves than the Monaco Gran Prix, and was twice as dangerous."
If Miles were still alive, he'd approve.
Jazz noir should be listened to while wearing pearls and sipping brandy…. Pearls and maybe 4 inch heels….

You don't even know WTF you're talking about.
