I was 17 years old in 1969. This is my first concert that I saw the carpenters. I will never forget it. I am now 71 years old and I still remember all these songs probably word for word.
My cat just passed on today. He was sick for a while. He would be 15 human years old in a few months. This song just kept playing in my head when I made the decision to bring him to the vet again for the final time. I love you Simba and I know you’re sleeping in a better place with no pain ❤️
Fantabulous lyrics. As an introvert who’s always dependent on one special person wherever I go, I completely feel the lines. I feel like I won’t last a day without that special one.
This is my first time listening to this song, I am a GenZ, not a fan of 80's and 90's songs, but the moment i heard the song and it made me imagine the beauty of the former generation, 😻 I can imagine how old generation enjoy their lives, without being held captive by social medias and technologies.
My first memories of this song go waaaay back...I was only 6 or 7 living with my single, working mom who had to take me to a day care in the mornings before school because she had to be at work very early, so a sweet elderly lady then drove me to school after breakfast each morning. I seem to rememeber her name was Mrs. Corbitt. She so kindly let me listen to the radio as we drove. This song played on those mornings and made me feel so happy. Every time I hear this song, it brings back that memory. So, I can say, I've loved this song for 50 years !!
She was my heartthrob in the 70s..There has NEVER been a more natural voice from her days to today ! She is songing to all of us in our dreams today. We will all be together again singing ❤
Lol, if it was "I won't last a day without food" it means she loves eating and can't let a day pass without eating. But its not. She was scared of getting a weight due to her anorexia nervosa therefore she refused to eat. @kevinmartin7541
As a kid growing up in Manchester in the 70's, I had no idea of the gift my parents were giving me through playing music in the house and on car journeys. Buddy Holly, ABBA, The Carpenters, Nat King Cole, The Beatles, Elvis, Simon & Garfunkel, the list goes on & on. I did the same with my kids and now I do it for my Grandkids. Sing-a-longs in the car which to them are fun but to me are priceless.
Your parents gave you the best gift anyone could ever give a child, and this is the gift of Music and Love. And I'm happy that you continue to give the same to your children and grandchildren. God bless your family more!
I just lost my cat yesterday. When we were at the vet, when he was too sick to carry himself, this was the song that kept playing. I stayed with him till his last breath; he died in my arms. Ill miss you so much cloud9
Such a spiritual song, addressed to our God the Almighty. Anyone could easily add the name of Jesus here and there and you'll end up with an incredible spiritual song. God bless us all ❤️
I can not forget this song, coz 8during the graduation of my eldest son he sang this for me to let me know that he won't last a day w/out me esp.during his early childhood days, that's why i love this song so much to remind that a child won't last a day w/out their mom😍
I can't think of an adjective to accurately characterize the voice of (may she RIP) Karen Carpenter. I only know that I get choked-up each time I listen to her songs (this one in particular).
Back then, when i don't hangout with my grandparents. I never knew what song should i listen to, because i was not interested with 1900's songs. But when i started to hangout with my grandparents, i've been hearing this song over and over again when im with my grandparents all the time. this day im going to memorize this song with love.💗 I don't know who is Karen Carpenter by now, But Rest in peace Karen. 🕊️
“I Won’t Last a Day Without You” was the final single from the Carpenters’ album “A Song For You” (1972). Originally, it was only a LP track. However, two years passed before it was issued as a single. Indeed, during 1973-1974, Richard and Karen found themselves with a busy touring schedule, keeping them from crafting new material. So they selected this piece for single release. Over the years, a host of acclaimed artists have covered this song : Paul Williams (who co-authored it with Roger Nichols), Shirley Bassey, Rosemary Clooney, Bobby Darin, Maureen McGovern, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, to name a few… 💙🎶💜 Always loved, never forgotten, forever missed will you remain, Karen Anne Carpenter (1950 - 1983)… 🌹
Thank you for setting the record straight. (No pun intended)😮 A great loss, but a beautiful voice captured on record for all with musical appreciation to hear and enjoy.

Gotta share something that got stuck in my mind. I was 6 years old when my mom introduced me to their songs, and I loved it so much that even now that I am 17 years old, I always search for their songs in the internet. Kids and/or teens nowadays would probably listen to pop songs, including me, tbh. But, for me, it would be precious if some people, particularly in young ages, would appreciate and love these types of songs. 🦋
I am a fan of Karen Carpenters. I was just a teenager when i heard this song through my Daddy. Now i am 44 years old. Now this song is a theme song of my wife for us. Godbless! Thank you for your music Karen.
Everytime I hear this song, there’s always one person comes into my mind. I missed him. It’s been months since he left me without any words but I’m still holding in his promises that he’ll wait for me. Well, I know I need to accept the fact that even how much we want someone to stay, they’ll soon leave. But I wish, wherever he is right now, I hope he’s okay.

People don’t like to hear this but some people just stand out and are truly special. Karen was that person.❤❤❤😊
Karen Carpenter had, in my opinion, the best voice in popular music.❤ .
Could there ever be any doubt about this?

This song is over 50 years old. RIP Karen Carpenter, one of the all time greatest female voices to ever grace this world. Gone to soon 😢

Fifty years later and her voice still makes (young) people’s jaws drop in wonder.
This is soothing to my ears. Relaxing to hear.
