Looks like modern farmers aren't much different than previous farmers, able to do anything and everything needed to get the job done! Farmer, mechanic, carpenter, doctor, etc...

I told you this on an older video last night but you are more likely to see this. You need an updated shaft. The updated shaft is longer and has snap ring lands to lock the fork to the shaft. The shaft then slides in the casting instead of the fork sliding on the shaft. This was an IH update and I have installed a lot of them. You take the top cover off just as you have done then take off the anchor point to the three point top link. You can reach in through that hole to exchange shafts. A bit of advise on taking the range cover off smoothly is take the tractor out of park and place a nut under the park lock clevis. Then remove the linkage then you are not fighting the park lock pawl. There is also a tool to keep the reverser shaft from pulling out when you pull the cover. There is also a tool to hold back one of the shift cams on the cover when you go back together. BTW this updated shaft is cheap through CNH

I think that shifter fork has a set screw into a hole in the shaft and when the shifter fork moves the shaft slides with it. There is nothing on that shaft back farther. What you did will help. but I'm not sure it will last a few thousand hours. How many hrs have you put on since July 2013 and is it still working?
