I love that China’s Ice Dance team, Wang Shiyue and Liu Xinyu used this song for their Free Dance routine this year and performed it at the Olympics. The moment I heard the piano’s opening measures while watching the team competition event I freaked out and said, “Holy cow! This is the Piano Guys’ arrangement!” Now after watching them for the second time tonight during the Ice Dance medal competition (and knowing what was coming) I could truly appreciate both the song and the routine that they built around it. Wang Shiyue and Liu Xinyu truly did it justice and I hope the Piano Guys are proud of making this arrangement so beautiful for cello and piano and that they did it so well that someone used it for competition at the Olympics!
2:57 Shifu : But how? How? I need your help, master! Oogway : No, you just need to believe. Promise me, Shifu. Promise me you will believe. Shifu : I... I will try.
@AARAV PRITESH Where is Kung Fu Panda set? The film music is meant to be in the style of Chinese music. In the original song 'Oogway ascends', an erhu (a chinese instrument) plays the solo, so the original music written by Hans Zimmer is in fact 'Chinese' style.
A song written by white guys from a movie written by white guys perforned by white guys. I honestly dont know if im critizing or not. Its just ironic. It does feel chinese though, cant argue with that.
As a ballerina I actually danced to this song and it was just amazing feeling the music flow through you as you glide along the stage. I wish more dancers or dance companies would use their music for shows.
De hecho mi hermana está estudiando para su examen auditivo de lic en musica (piano) y escuché la pieza y le digo: esa rola la conozco jajaja es de piano guys 😅
+Hanyang Lee I still prefer classical solo guzheng, gayageum or geomungo, as much as i like solo cello. Something about these solos in their traditionally intended music are so soothing. ^_^
I think of Kung Fu Panda 2 when i hear this, most notably the moment Po is remembering his mother and how she gave her life for him as a baby. Waaaay deeper movie than i thought it would be.
Joanna Velez This is the same song that plays in Kung Fu Panda when Po is receiving the Dragon Scroll... And you're right, it's also the same song that plays when he's finding inner peace in Kung Fu Panda 2! [mind blown]
That guy managed to make his Cello sound like a freaking Er Hu. How is that even possible?? Also, they brought a piano onto the Great Wall of freaking China. I'm done.
I asked the same question to my Chinese dad. He said it's most likely that they rented a part of the wall that visitors don't usually go to anyway. The Great Wall of China is 5,500 miles long. There's a lot of wall for everyone over there.

Well If I remember well, after the video before this one, Steve broke his black electric cello. And after they tried to fix it, they realized that even though the original sound was lost, it was pretty heu... Oriental-sounding... So they decided to go along with it ^^
+Natsu La Smileuse You are thinking about Steve's steel cello. It broke during the Lord of the Rings shoot and the sounds that it now made were used to create sounds heard in Dont you Worry Child. They called it the Sitello - a cross between the Sitar and the Cello :)

I think I was 13 when I listened to this beautiful piece. I'm 22 years old now and it still touches my soul. Thank you Piano Guys for making masterpiece.
+Xiang (Fortehlolz) He has a 5 stringed electric cello, and being an electric cello their must be some way to filter it into an erhu sound. The electric cello actually looks nothing like an erhu, not to mention that erhus play completely differently then cellos do, AND only have 2 strings. Heck when you translate the suffix of the word "hu" it turns out that it can be translated to be "two" as in two strings. I would love to know what software he did use to change an electric cello into an erhu thing.
Absolutely magnificent! :)This piece has so many wonderful layers and textures. At 2:55, it was as if the harmonies were crying out to the very core of my soul.
