Still to this day I find myself randomly singing Antidote whilst doing chores around the house. And THIS song, Money!! Man. Probably one of the most iconic music videos in history, period. Whoever came up with the concept for the music video is a genius. When I first saw this video it was probably the first time I'd ever seen black people in period costumes. It was so fresh, innovative and edgy and you can see even 23 years later it doesn't feel dated because it's a CLASSIC!! She was also ahead of her time when it came to mixing genres: classical music / opera with pop and reggae???? WHAT?! She did that, man! It must have been hard for your mum back then as a dark skinned black woman trying to navigate her way through a racist music industry whilst being so young, going through her own personal challenges but if it wasn't for woman like her there are a lot of people who would have felt unacknowledged and unrepresented.
