    These tips really work! My June baby hasn’t shown interest in rolling for weeks, then within about a couple weeks of practicing Tip 1 with her, she started to roll from back to belly - today, at 4.5 months! I could tell she enjoyed this exercise too, she would smile and start working her muscles every time we got into position as if she knows ☺️ It also helped to have our high contrast images booklet propped up behind her head when laying on back as she would try to look up and roll over to see them. Your videos are so helpful - thank you!!!

      If you haven’t already tried this, make sure she has about 30 mins being upright after eating before laying her down. It helps some babies.

    Yesterday was my baby girl turned 5 months old. She also rolled from her tummy to her back for the first time and then was being a wonderful little show off repeating it over and over again as we cheered her on. Then she rolled from her back to belly a couple times in the same day. We are beyond proud and were so excited! Thank you for all your helpful videos along the way! They really have helped and let me have piece of mind she's right on track. 👣

    My baby learnt to roll from back to tummy when he turned 3 months. Only after that he started lifting his head while on his tummy. He wasn’t willing to do tummy time before he could roll onto his tummy on his own. I was quite worried that he had no head control at all close to three months, so I started putting him on the floor on his back whenever he wasn’t sleeping. His physical development accelerated after that. He learnt to roll from his tummy to his back shortly after that.

  • @miamaui8069

    My real struggle is about letting the baby play on his own, where he actually learns and practices these skills independently. Everything I have read and watched kind of tells me to be engaged with the baby all the time with rolling, sitting etc. And I did it constantly I think until 3 months, but now that he is 4 months old, I have realized that the moment I leave him alone (spending time a couple of meters away), he starts to think by himself and immediately starts to roll over and try to shift the weight back to roll back. But no sources ever told me to just leave the baby to play with himself if he is happy and I still have this mom's guilt if I am even just watching him from the distance minding his own business.

    • @EmmaHubbard
      @EmmaHubbard  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Mia, at this age your little one will be a lot more independent in being able to move around and hold and play with toys. So he will start to be happier to spend time lying on the floor exploring. It is exhausting interacting with a baby all day and honestly it isn't something they need - sometimes they would prefer to play with toys then interact with you. That is fine. So enjoy those moments of watching him from a distance without any guilt!

    • @miamaui8069
      @miamaui8069 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EmmaHubbard Thank you for the reassuring words and also for the content. I have used the guidelines in your videos for helping to roll from stomach to back. But now I try to help him if he needs me and lets me know and the other times when he is playing by himself he sometimes remembers the moves which we did together and tries to mimic it by himself. Which, I realized, is also the progress he needs to go through - to process the steps by himself and let the little one learn his own body and movements :)

    My little one is almost 6 months, she’s been rolling from belly to back since two months and we have tried and tried to get her to roll the other way but she has no desire! She’s been sitting for close to a month independently and when in her tummy will push onto straight arms and interact with toys. I have done all of these tips for probably a few months and she can roll with perfect form if I guide her, but just won’t do it independently. We’ve tried toys, wedges, mirror, phone, and she will actually fight against the roll if she’s not in the mood, knees to her chest arms pushing hard back, tucking her head, etc. I’m at a loss in what else to do to help her. We have to use lots of distraction to keep her in tummy time as well or she will just roll over. We practice every wake window and she sleeps side lying almost all the time ( gets herself there). Any tips??

      I'm sure your baby has done the roll by know but I taught my son at 7 months and he learnt how to go from his stomach to his back first. I had to show him a few times and he got it! It was sooo cute I could see him thinking about it. I would get his left arm and put it down on a slight angle to the right, then I would press his head down onto his arm and that would allow free movement onto his back. He was frustrated the first few days but he kept trying. By about the 5th day he picked up the pattern and all I would have to do is press his head down and he would turn. then after that he realised he didn't need to do that anymore and he would do it on his own. Now he's an expert. He then used the strategy to turn to the opposite side without me showing him.

He had started to roll onto his tummy in his cot, but his arm gets stuck along side him and he can’t go back over to his back. What can I do apart from more floor time which I am doing now 😩

    I hope this isn't a dumb question, but is two blankies enough on a tiled floor? because my babies movement is probably limited because of the tiled floor, so how can I safely play with him. On the floor.

      HI, thanks so much for watching. I have a video on activities you can do with 0 -3 month old babies which you might find helpful! Just be mindful if you are him standing up a lot. Babies start to prefer this position and become upset when you place them on the floor in tummy time or their back which is really important when developing their gross motor skills.

      My baby was the same. We follow him. He’s 4 months now. I’ll admit he’s not a fan of tummy time but he’s very strong actually! He gets up on his own if he’s on an inclined position. He holds his head well. I got him to do tummy time for 10 whole minutes for the first time not too long ago. Just follow your baby!

    I was playing "roly poly" with my 3.5 month old yesterday and she loved it ... for a little while 😅 I've been doing your tips since she was 2 months 1 week old. She's not rolling yet, although she's done it a few times on her own, but she's strong now and all she wants to do is sit up or stand. She literally does these crunches and holds for like 15-20 seconds trying to get herself up 😂 I'm like WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO???? 🤣🤣

      @@jae6950 we demonstrated how to roll in front of our son then we helped bending his leg to side position. Even so, he was really not interested. But we always let him on his tummy.

    My baby is 7 ½ months and maybe once or twice a day on average he will roll both ways on his own. Some days it's effortless and some he crys as soon as I put him for tummy time and pulls arms back and no interest in it. He has a little bit of head lag when I pull him up by arms when I video it to check. But he does have good head holding. He struggles with support sitting and always wants to fall back onto me or sides. My friend with multiple kids says he should be consistently rolling come 5 months old and most sit come 6 months. Do you think he's just a bit delayed and needs to keep practicing or do you think I should talk with his ped dr for physical therapy? I will add I had ppd and bad mindset sometimes so he didn't get a ton of tummy time his first 6 months, maybe 2x a day now I do 4-5x

    My baby is doing more rolling from her back to her side almost her belly but hasn’t shown any signs of rolling from her tummy to her back. She does tend to lean to one side when she’s on her tummy. Is it normal if my baby masters rolling from back to tummy before tummy to back?

      Hi! Rolling onto her side at 3 months to hat we would be expecting in regards to her development. At the beginning of this video I show how you can assist them to roll from their back to their tummy. If she is rolling to her side I would continue to let her do that movement and then apply slight
      Pressure at her hip to assist her to roll the rest of the way.

    My daughter is able to rollover from back to her tummy just before she turned 3’months. Would you recommend encouraging baby to stand at 3months old? She pulled herself up while holding her in sitting position and she made steps forward and so excited looking at herself in the mirror standing and moving forward. I’m worried about spine problem later on based on what I read online but still not sure if it’s really true or not so I didn’t encourage her to do that.

    Your videos are helpful for my four month old daughter. Can roll over be done from left to right? As I am trying my daughter from side like left to right and then on her back and second time from right to left. As I think both the side muscles should be strong. Not sure if I am right or wrong. Just asking?

    • @EmmaHubbard
      @EmmaHubbard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Yep definitely roll her towards the left side one time and then to the right side the next time. This will ensure the muscles on both sides of her body are strong.

    My baby is gonna be 6 months and no rolling at all :( I just found this video and I’m gonna try it out not sure if my baby can’t roll cause she’s chunky, is that possible? Help

    • @JC-er7je
      @JC-er7je ปีที่แล้ว

      mine's got chunky thighs and only occasionally rolls over but not necessarily at will. Sometimes
      she struggles. I think every baby develops and ages at different rates, not an issue for concern unless doctors have diagnosed it with motor related issues. Honestly, this was never a thing 15-20 years ago, especially when we were babies. Now baby developmental milestones are trending or quick reference check offs to indicate baby is developing on track compare to other babies, but it has no consistent correlation to babies health or intelligence. I spend much time reading and speaking to my baby more than she gets on the tummy. Which ever activity she engages with better.

    Is it possible that the baby loses interest in rolling? My baby used to roll from his tummy to back when he was two months old. Now, he is five and doesn't try anymore. It seems he used to do it because he was uncomfortable. I'm not so sure. I keep encouraging him but he doesn't do on his own.
    Also, where did you get (brand name) the firefly toy?

  • @SimpleBuffyAlien

    I did this with my daughter she learned to roll within the week of starting it. Trying with my son I’ve been trying for weeks and I just can’t get him to track a toy further then his shoulder if I move it further to get him to look further up and around hoping he’ll lift a shoulder he won’t do it. I’ve increased belly time and reaching for toys to get the strength up but he just doesn’t seem to care. What can I do?>.
