I spent a few years in Australia in the late 90s/early 2000s. I was blown away by the local music scene then. These lads, Spiderbait, Jebediah, Powderfinger etc. And the best indie radio station in the world, triple J. Plus....Club 77 in Darlinghurst. Such good tunes at that club. It was a fantastic era for Aussie music
Australian music is still pretty good today Liam, bands like The Buoys, King Stingray, Eliza And The Delusionals and a few others come to mind. Triple J isn't quite so indie now, but I still enjoy it despite all the rap and hip hop they play.
@Kate W yeah, club 77 was something special. I have lived and worked in half a dozen countries, always searched out the local indie clubs. Nothing came close to club 77. Soon as I set foot on the sticky carpet I knew I was in for a good night.
spot on. the "we knew" line flies in the face of every period in history. We simply didn't know how good this emerging scene was. We can still appreciate it in retrospect.
you know when you've been looking for a song for ages and when you finally found it a flood of memories and feelings rush through you like an adrenalin fueled happy buzz!..........that just happened to me! and the hairs on the back of my neck are still standing up!
Forgot the "SuperJesus" and Joan Osbourne... One hit wonder; but still up there with this... & Silverchair+ Lol... Gotta keep em" Seperated🙀🤔🤪😂🤣🤪😈 & Teardrop's Remember that song-vid clip of baby in womb? Also Can't fight the Seether... Varuca Salt'😉🤔🤪😅😇
I was thinking about this song the other day and then heard it on the radio last night, which in turn made me want to see the clip again. Been years and still awesome! :D
I remember THE RECOVERY SHOW sat mornings, I would pull a ALL NIGHTER and race home to watch RECOVERY and THE GURGE would be on...A RIGHT PASSAGE IN ( AUSTRALIA ) in the 90s....
This song went hard on a 9 hour drive at night at max volume in the middle of the outback, slowly falling asleep to in in the back seat of your parents car
They released an album in 2011, which had some good songs on it. I saw them live last night (27th April 2013). Amazing gig and shows they still have it.
I remember playing a demo disk of games that played this song on the menu selection screen. waaaaaay back before steam. It had wolfenstein, earth worm jim, alone in the dark and a couple of others. I used to think that shit was amazing as a kid :P
damn I remember that menu too with 7 kingdoms and stuff. After all these years the song still got stuck in my head and I typed in the lyrics and found it.
as soon as i saw this video clip on rage as a kid i was instantly hooked. unit was the first cd i ever bought, and i find that funny coz it has an r18+ rating on the front for explicit content and i was only 7 when i bought it, haha. this is as nostalgic as music gets for me :)
This used to get shown every few days on TV2 in NZ in the late 90's early 2000s at midday or whenever they seemingly needed to make up time to fit the tv schedule. It still rocks! Let's keep going with the videogames and find out together what's at the end of Satan's rainbow! It won't be long now...
Who else remembers this from Mortis' Asheron's Call video? Ahh Mortisland. Wonder whatever happened to that dude. Last time I talked to him he was going to digipen.
I agree, this song rocks! It was on a mountain bike video I used to own years back and the song popped into my head the other day so off I went searching for it.
I have always thought this was an awesome song. Although for years I never knew or understood what they were singing about in the chorus of the song. I thought it was something like "what's at the end, is it a train blow". I knew they couldn't be the right lyrics, so I decided to finally look them up. Now I find they are singing about "Satan's Rainbow". Well, at least I finally know now.
I believe the band said in an interview that the song was inspired by the original Turok video game, which does in fact feature a sort of black insect enemy and an infamous (if rare) glitch known as Satan's Rainbow.
oi same here, i didnt even like it when i was younger but it come up on spotify and gave us flashbacks, still find the beezlebub as lucy joke thou at the end, at the end of satans rainbow
@ John Muhleisen - I know right (😆)! Back in the 1980s (when I was a kid), one of my friends and I also got the lyrics wrong to a Bon Jovi song. We used to think that Jon was swearing in “Livin’ On A Prayer”. We always thought that he was saying “you live for the f..kwit now tell that to god” instead of ”You live for the fight when it's all that you've got”
In my youth I thought this song was just about a video game. Now as an adult, I'm like.....this is about life, lol. Maybe I'm looking too deep into it. It's regurgitator......so it's probably just about a video game, lol
First heard this song on the game demo CD you buy at coles (it was the background music when choosing a game. Old school 90s memories haha cuz it said the full version of the game is free if you download it from the net .... when Dail-up was the standard the motto was "Download if you dare!"
The constant circle of reliving and relearning lessons in life and future lives until the lesson is learnt, wholeheartedly. “Satans rainbow” is the distraction from the lesson itself 🌈
Fuck us Aussies have had some epic bands come out over the years. I've loved the Gurge since they came out (Fat Cop being one of my favourites of theirs the second I heard it) and still love them decades later. Unit will always be one of the best albums of all time👌🏻🤘🏻
As somebody not from Down Under and who was only informed of this song's existence today, this slaps
It's good to see classics like this still get out there!
Best thing bout regurgitator is they did all styles of music very underrated

God I loved Club 77, Agincourt Hotel, Venom, Palladium, etc
It was a golden time on planet earth and Australia had some fucking great bands.

@@Lachlant1984 thanks for the update Lachlan. Haven't set foot in Australia for 22 years and counting
The golden age of Aussie music, we didn't know it at the time..
Fully agree - flashbacks!
Listen to King GIzzard, so goooood!
spot on. the "we knew" line flies in the face of every period in history. We simply didn't know how good this emerging scene was. We can still appreciate it in retrospect.
Totally absolutely
@@DarrylSullivan @ the time we knew how good this emerging seen was it just got bought out and tbh completely fucked!
Unit is an outstanding album and it still is even after 25 years after it's release

@@keithaustin-brisbane6533 yeah, that's why the computer graphics are so primitive, it was done on a Commodore 64
who's still listening to this in 1974?
Keith Austin - Brisbane you’re serious? Oh my god.......
Regurgitator were before their time. GO THE GURGE
I was around at the time and I disagree...they were right on time, and we enjoyed them at the time.
Not really they were not pink Floyd 😅
Wow hard crowd tonight
This is such a good song! Damn I miss the 90s when good music was still being made.
I was reminded of this after playing Tetris obsessively aged 13.
I have to remind myself that it's just a game.
2023 - bringing back the keytar solo and outro for now and future prosperity and happy vibes 🔥♾️
Regurgitator are such legends in my eyes. I still crank them in the truck and car on my way to drive the truck.
And when you’re fucking in the truck?
these guys, you am i, spiderbait, front end loader, nofx, pennywise, offspring, bad religion etc

imagine if videogames had graphics as good as this.
Awesome song!! Great Aussie music!
ARGHH!!! HRAGHHHH!!! NDGHHHH!!!
Had they been American or English they'd be living in castles today.
Criminally under rated band internationally. Great songwriters.
reminds me of hanging out in sharkies bar at north burleigh back in the late 90's. Great times!
DAMN!!! Totally remember watching this clip on RAGE Saturday mornings back in the day
This song has real meaning to me. I first heard it on Yolngu Boy back in 2003 and I've been hooked ever since!
Regurgitator film clips are insane, i love it!
Who is getting old and still remembers running down to HMV to buy the single?
Just saw these guys at Good Things 2022. Fantastic show, probably my favourite song by them
Was a fucking great set huh!?

This song went hard on a 9 hour drive at night at max volume in the middle of the outback, slowly falling asleep to in in the back seat of your parents car
Best comment I've ever seen, in any video, news article, or online thread. The point I've agreed with most from any I've seen on the internet, ever.
Recovery was one of THE shows of the Nineties
yeah hasn't dated very well lol
The ABC does not have the courage for shows like that anymore, such a shame

Saw them at the BDO one year. Awesome.
Love this more now than in 1998 when I first heard it

Still got the original CD, shame the video file don't play no more. Can only play on a WIN98 machine that does not have iTunes on it.

Best times, Big Day Out! Full Noise.......
Yup. Sadly, just like Soundwave, BDO finished up for good😔. The softcocks whining about the noise in every venue both were held didn't help...pricks😒
Classic song from back in a better day
Great tune . In fact the whole album is awesome.
Oz all-time classic. Groovy clip too.
