  • I am aware this is coming out after season 4 dropped but it was recorded awhile ago 😭 I figured if I didn’t post it now I’d never post it so, here you go. Also not sure why my audio sounds so weird? It sounded clear before upload 🥴. Anyways hope you enjoy!
The thoughts I have currently on season 4 (spoilers obvi) is that Rina was so cute, they are the healthiest couple on the show. Big Red and Seb shocked me to my core, I knew that (french) kid had a thing for Biggie, and I cannot believe we don’t get to know how the second half of senior year went ☹️ I want a season 5…Tim make it

Beautifully stated how Ricky is the stability Gina needs and how Gina is the change Ricky needs. I love how those of us who got it saw it in that car on homecoming night.

Ricky's 'clinginess' and grand gestures are what Gina loves while Gina's understanding and letting him feel all his feelings (good or bad) is what he needs. Everyone told him to forgive his mom or talk to her when he clearly wasn't ready, Gina told him to do what HE needed to do. EJ TOLD Gina he'd be there but he wasn't, something her family does a lot, while Ricky showed up and as of season four lets her shine and makes big gestures for her.
They match and mesh. and they needed to go through (unfortunately) 2b separately, Rini getting back together and Portwell getting together in order to grow enough in themselves to be ready for the person and relationship they always wanted

      @soleekgives 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

Exactly that. Portwell was needed just as much as Rini was needed so that they could have the same experiences to end up together.

This tends to happen when female characters gain their own agency. They no longer act in a way that the audience wants them to so they hate on them for no reason.

the way that people can't think critically enough to understand that Gina was putting up a facade to protect herself in early s1 and had never truly been given the time and stability to find out who she really is, is just....so frustrating to me! It's not like Gina suddenly changed in s4. They established this in SEASON ONE. we see that as soon as she actually makes a real friend in Ricky, as soon as she feels Seen and Understood and has someone she can talk to, actually TALK to, instead of just playing the aloof, confident transfer student, she becomes so soft. She supported Ricky's ideas, listened to him, offered her own solidarity, and didn't shame him or criticize him for his emotions, but instead helped him process them. For goodness sake, Gina knit Ricky a hat halfway through s1! How do people think she was actually, TRULY, a Cool Bad Bitch archetype? Gina is too complex and well-written for some people to wrap their brains around, it seems

THANK YOU!!! I agree with everything you said, and it's like they don't want to see her be soft like oof.

Like once she broke her walls, she kind, supportive and someone listens while also being protective, strong and a bad bitch. Like that whole Gina 1.0 and 2.0 stuff lowkey got on my nerves !!!

I was so scared to click on this video because I thought it would be another piece about how the show ruined Gina and how terrible Ricky was but I’m so thankful it’s the opposite! You really hit the nail on the head with so many of your points especially regarding how the fandom regards the characters and their arcs in wrongful manners that often demonize Ricky, Gina and Rina. I so glad the showrunner/writers stuck with their guns and didn’t falter due to fan opinions and told the story that they wanted to tell (and was better). Maybe one day more people will see the Rina vision at least I’m hopeful. Great video ❤

To add to the defense of Gina and to take some of the shine off EJ that people have. When Gina got the part of Anna she was excited and as she was telling EJ how happy she was and how big the part is, EJ was ignoring her and in his own head. So Gina stops to give him attention, He couldn’t put his worries of feeling to the side to celebrate her, he had to turn the attention back to him. Like you said He didn’t change that much, while EJ may have changed as a friend for many people, in relationships he was still selfish. You need more proof look at Ricky’s reaction to Gina getting the lead, he told her how he was proud and how it was a big deal. He didn’t do it with some underlined motive, he supported her as a friend who he cared deeply about. Yes he is in love with her but I don’t think he really realized it till they sang what do you know about love. I think he buried those feelings after season 1, but never let go of them.
Anyway this was a great video.

I love this video cause let me tell you I am a Gina, Ricky and Rina defender!!! Like Portwell was cute( even tho it was just Ginas safest option after Ricky and Ej just started liking her out of nowhere) and Rini is popular cause people thought the actors will be cute together irl. However, Rina does something different that we havent seen on Disney, plus they live each other understand each other and actually try plus we truly see there growth when they are together. Thats why Rina is Endgame 🤧💅🏿

like ej makes time for what he wants bro legit neglected his gf then thought he was still going to have a gf after not to mention like bro was only attentive to gina when (like our queen mother said in the video) ricky was getting close to gina and being the friend she needed when her whole bf wasnt there for her

I love the way you highlight the difference between Ricky’s toxic love for Nini and his pure love for Gina!!! He just felt like he had to be with Nini, but he actually loved Gina and wanted her to be happy.

    (season 4 spoilers)
You couldn't have explained it better! I'd like to add some things too, if everybody's against Gina for breaking up with EJ and it "changed the whole show" and "he didn't deserve it" then why should Nini? she did the same thing and realized his antics and therefore broke up with him, but when Gina does it it's bad? I'm just convinced most Portwell's are Olivia stans because i don't get how you defend one character fr doing the same thing. It's literally revealed in season 4 where they actually met and in actuality, if they didn't have that conversation, Ricky wouldn't have sang that song for Nini at auditions (and therefore gotten troy) and Gina wouldn't have auditioned at all making the argument "they not only want each other but need each other" completely true. The fact people can't see Portwell was a plot device baffles me because it's like did you want Gina to continue being miserable in a relationship that was only a relationship so that she could move on? That's just so foul and disrespectful to Gina. The whole Ricky jumps from one girl to the next is literally so weird as well, the whole 'choices' thing too it's like they see every woman in the show as something a guy can just buy or sell because it's up to him like no. That's so cruel to say and if ya'll hadn't noticed they BOTH were each other's choice and it was from the very start. Ricky kept the hat she gave on him every since and she loved him ever since because it was literally in the hat. Anyway, Amazing analysis!!

Honestly I think a bit of it is because its a Disney Show and they expect it to be two dimensional. The leading man getting with the leading girl. The side characters ending up together. EJ and Gina is a good example of 'pairing the spares' which is a trope thats used alot in Disney. The Season One Finale confirms this, when they get ditched by Ricky and Nini and from then on they are "put together". Alot of times I've seen in Disney films/movies the side female character has a crush on the main guy as a plot device for the main ship, then when he leaves her, she gets paired with another side character who "undestands her". An example of this is Sharpay having a crush on Troy from the High School Musical Series.

People who love Gina in season 1-2, but don't like her in the last two. she wasn't even fully formed yet. She was a mess and inconsistent. She was bad then she was good, then she was mourning then she was a perky version of herself. But once she came into her own in season 3. Thats when people started to dislike her.
