Rather, it looks like they are cameras attached to the camera rig (which also stays upright) and the cameras draw to the textures on the mirror.
I love how you can see the sky in the mirror. I also love how they bothered to put a reflection on the gas can but not texture it. I also love the gigantic differences between the quality of models and textures. I also love this game. In a sadistic way, but I really do.
Around 15:21, when you hit the car and it went flying up into the air, I had a similar experience on Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 on PS2 where a cop was chasing me, I hit another car, it went flying up in the air; and landed on the hood of the cop car. It was so awesome, but I could never replicate it again!

The reason it takes so long to warn you about driving the wrong way is because it thinks you're passing another car. In America at least, passing by driving on the wrong side (unless indicated otherwise) is legal.
to be fair even Mercedes Benz Truck Racing has good reflections (yes it seems to be in same game engine as this game) i think its some proprietary german only engine that can do like ONE thing - reflections. but nothing else .)

I think I haven't bought any optical disc based game since 2012 or so. I still have "Fahr-Simulator 2009" somewhere, but that one looks almost exactly the same as this game. Really, just buy a real (actually realistic) racing simulator game if you want to learn how to drive on PC. Or buy OMSI, really good physics there as well, if you have a NASA-computer ;)
