- Went on a family camping/fishing trip with my wife and wife's family to the West Branch of the Penobscot River. My first time fishing this river so my BIL played guide for the trip. We fished for three days mixed with a lot of family time and fun. Here are some of the highlights. Thanks for watching!
Recognized your BIL. Dan. He’s one of the fish catching-est dudes I’ve ever met. Taught me a lot about how to not get skunked. Tell him to wet his hands next time lol!!!
The sunset reflecting off those clouds at 11:00 is lovely.
Thank you! I appreciate you showing me something I had not noticed :)
stumbled onto this....What a shock to see myself netting a fish in someone else video! hahaha!
Hahah, that is awesome! That net job was appreciated. Hopefully see you out on the water again!
Wow....this looks like a blast!
We did have a great time! Also, I really enjoyed your videos! I love Montana and cant wait to go back sometime. Thanks for watching!
@@rkfishing6952 ...thx for watching! I hope to do some fishing in this stream this summer. This looks really fun. I have not ever caught a salmon. Tightlines!!
About 50years ago I was fishing the west branch and got into some swampy areas, managed to get turned around on some of the bends ,managed to get a little lost, a compass and a topo map ,sat down and figured it out, fun memories good fishing, only wish I could lose myself up there again, now only in my mind.way north,no-one there back then
Great story, David! I imagine over the last 50 years you have forgotten more than most will ever know about that area. Thanks for watching!
@@rkfishing6952 A lot of areas AZISCOHOS LAKE, built a log cabin on it 9miles in back on the lake 1972,trout, salmon smelt, showed a lot of people a beautiful place, loons at nite ,partridge, moose, deer, ermine, lifetime of good, for family and friends ,snowshoed in at night by myself fell in the lake in March at night, still here,3 times a winter to shovel roof, caught brook trout and salmon good life had some tough times to all worth it no regrets hope you get as much life and goodness as I was fortunate to have 71years old March 6th had a squirrel steal an entire honey dip donut one morning before I got out of bed, little shit.
@@davidlatham845 hahah, gotta keep an eye on those squirrels....That cabin sounds like a little bit of heaven. Happy Belated Birthday and hope you get to see many more!
@@rkfishing6952 If others had a place like that it would be a better world, listen to the loons at night, take care my friend.
Fished there a week every year 1970 - 1997 . It was great then hundreds of salmon 6-25 inches all on drys. It’s not near as good now. Hope to go back again , I kind of grew up on that river. What great memories
That is awesome, Steve! Sounds like you have made some great memories on that river. I have only been once and I also hope to get back again. Thanks for watching!
You hit a number of my favorite spots. Next time at that big pool, try a heavy Clouser in smelt colors, but be sure to use a very strong tippet. It’s very deep there, & there are some really big landlocks.
That was my first time on the river. Have a trip planned again for this year, thanks for the headsup and for watching! Tight lines!
Best spot on earth 🌎
Wet hands and a net then release. Fished that stretch of the river many times.
That was my first time., I really wanted to get back year this but never made it.... Next year!
Where dud you camp? Great video!!
7:45 spot we call the bathtub..home sweet home
Great video! What size rod were you using?
Thanks for watching! I was using an 8 1/2ft 5wt that I built.
What time of year was this and what kind of nymphs were u using at McKay
it was middle of July. Using a variety of midges and smelt patterns.
Floating smelt flies can bring up some smashers right there at McKay.
It would be nice if you show the flies you are using on this section of the west branch
