⁴ᴷ Iwate: Morioka Odori Shopping Street (岩手県: 盛岡大通商店街) - Japan Walking Tour (August, 2024)

I used the first three days of the Obon holiday to travel to Morioka City in Iwate Prefecture. From Morioka Station, I walked to the Ōdōri Shopping Street. Morioka is said to have the largest entertainment district in the northeastern Tohoku region. While there are shops near the station, Ōdōri Shopping Street, located about a 10-minute walk from the station, is the city’s most vibrant area. Because of the three-day holiday during Obon, groups of people who likely returned to their hometown to hang out with local friends were enjoying themselves all around.
