How times have changed. When Houston decided to build a new airport and move away from Hobby, it was to be called Jetero. This was the mid 60's. However, the airport was built and became Houston Intercontinental. After leaving I-45 and driving out to the airport back in the day, there was absolutely nothing around. Nada. Zilch. A few years later, wall to wall subdivisions, malls, businesses, etc. And then the folks started complaining about the jet noise. Duh?
Great approach, I was picking out all of the highways and major streets as I saw them. this approach takes the planes right by my house so it was nice seeing what it looks like going over each landmark from your perspective
First time to IAH? This is my home airport,I live about a half hour NE on US 59.Where were you connecting to? What was your initial impression of the airport? What amazes me is LH flying their A380 to Frankfurt and one can fly to either mainland China via Air China or Taiwan via Eva Air.And if you have a desire to fly to New Zealand nonstop,Air New Zealand will happily get you there nonstop!

I will never refer to it as "Bush". It will always be *Houston Intercontinental Airport* for me. He was not a good enough president to have such a nice airport named after him.
