The burgeoning technology has made these giant steps possible, but these technologies spurred opportunities for profit based companies to invest in these technologies. I think something else the US is far behind on compared to Europe is healthy living. Europeans aren't healthier than Americans just by chance. Our governments tax unhealthy foods and subsidize healthy foods which keeps obesidy at bay. It's often misunderstood but most obesidy in the US is by poorer families who can't afford healthy foods. Many products ahve their sugar content reduced in Europe and mandatory sugar free alternatives are around as well as regulations on proportions. There are also regulations on marketing with some countries banning advertisement of junk food. Denmark has a fat tax, Germany has a government mandated and paid fitness program. One criticism about Bernie's campaign that I do agree on is that these fringe things are a little overlooked. Just medicare for all is going to be enormously expensive. It needs to be part of a general healthcare program to encourage healthy living and make it easier for Americans to do it. Just like many projects it aren't just the big things. The small things matter too in how they are part of a well functioning system. he also doesn't really go into the technicals of it. Like if it's a centralized healthcare system like in France, or a community based one like in Italy, or a state by state thing like in Germany. Personally I think the German system would be best because the German political system is very similar to that of the US.
In Germany universal healthcare is handled on a state by state basis but the federal government does fund it. It's just up to the states how exactly the handle their own healthcare system with some having it very centralized while others have it fairly decentralized. We also need to have constructive discussions about this. About how it would be best implimented and how it can be supported by a general health program.

If we had M4A my daughter who was beautiful both inside and out would still be alive today. She died of cancer leaving four. children and a loving husband behind because our privatized health insurance makes their money denying care. She died December 23, 2018; before she got out of her 40s. She had just dond her Christmas gifts and gotten them wrapped so that no matter how bad she felt her family would have gifts to open. That's the kind of loving thoughtful person she was. She even managed to buy gifts for her many friends. Obviously I'll never get over her loss. Neither will her children, her husband of her friends along with her two younger brothers. My children 2 we e very close.

I wouldn't be dying because I had moved and hadn't found a job with health insurance. I ended up spending my retirement fund on healthcare. By that time the cancer I thought was a minor illness was late into the fiurtg stage and the amount of radiation treatment I had is causing bone death which will almost certainly kill me soon. It's also causing recurring infections which become trapped between my brain and my scull. I have a very slim chance of survival with an extremely poor quality of life M4A would have made all the difference in the world not only for me but for so many more like me. Thank you Bernie and Pramila for for fighting against all odds in order to get us healthcare rather than health insurance and for pointing our that Medicare Advantage is not Medicare. Thank you for this important presentation. I entered the nursing profession in1963.I have been privileged to see many giant steps in treatments, including me. The burgeoning technology has made these giant steps possible, but these technologies spurred opportunities for profit based companies to invest in these technologies. Thus was born "for profit healthcare". Patients, that's you and me, have become commodities. It's dehumanizing. I think something else the US is far behind on compared to Europe is healthy living. Europeans aren't healthier than Americans just by chance. Our governments tax unhealthy foods and subsidize healthy foods which keeps obesidy at bay. It's often misunderstood but most obesidy in the US is by poorer families who can't afford healthy foods.
Many products ahve their sugar content reduced in Europe and mandatory sugar free alternatives are around as well as regulations on proportions. There are also regulations on marketing with some countries banning advertisement of junk food. Denmark has a fat tax, Germany has a government mandated and paid fitness program.
One criticism about Bernie's campaign that I do agree on is that these fringe things are a little overlooked. Just medicare for all is going to be enormously expensive. It needs to be part of a general healthcare program to encourage healthy living and make it easier for Americans to do it. Just like many projects it aren't just the big things. The small things matter too in how they are part of a well functioning system.
he also doesn't really go into the technicals of it. Like if it's a centralized healthcare system like in France, or a community based one like in Italy, or a state by state thing like in Germany. Personally I think the German system would be best because the German political system is very similar to that of the US.
In Germany universal healthcare is handled on a state by state basis but the federal government does fund it. It's just up to the states how exactly the handle their own healthcare system with some having it very centralized while others have it fairly decentralized.
We also need to have constructive discussions about this. About how it would be best implimented and how it can be supported by a general health program.

If we had M4A my daughter who was beautiful both inside and out would still be alive today. She died of cancer leaving four. children and a loving husband behind because our privatized health insurance makes their money denying care. She died December 23, 2018; before she got out of her 40s. She had just dond her Christmas gifts and gotten them wrapped so that no matter how bad she felt her family would have gifts to open. That's the kind of loving thoughtful person she was. She even managed to buy gifts for her many friends. Obviously I'll never get over her loss. Neither will her children, her husband of her friends along with her two younger brothers. My children 2 we e very close.

I wouldn't be dying because I had moved and hadn't found a job with health insurance. I ended up spending my retirement fund on healthcare. By that time the cancer I thought was a minor illness was late into the fiurtg stage and the amount of radiation treatment I had is causing bone death which will almost certainly kill me soon. It's also causing recurring infections which become trapped between my brain and my scull. I have a very slim chance of survival with an extremely poor quality of life M4A would have made all the difference in the world not only for me but for so many more like me. Thank you Bernie and Pramila for for fighting against all odds in order to get us healthcare rather than health insurance and for pointing our that Medicare Advantage is not Medicare. I've lost friends because they didn't know. They should not be permitted to call themselves Medicate and fewer people would be tricked into giving up their luves because they didn't know
