I am here because JxmyHighRoller's video discussed Grinnell's men's basketball team that came out on July 27, 2023. What an interesting video. I played basketball in HS from 1995-1999 and never would I ever dream that a team would institute such fast paced/high volume of three pointers. I remember when I played it was blasphemous to not take mid range shots instead.
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. I learned sometime in the mid 2000s about Grinnell College's fun system. Do they still play that super uptempo style? They are always fun to watch! I heard that, at one time, their games sold out, because people wanted to see them play.
We ran this system in our high school junior Boys team (aged 14/15. We won 91 games of 21 and scored 100 points or more 7 times. We were undefeated in the College Sport Wellington division 2 and won the championship. NB in junior divisions we are forced to paly man-to-man defence anyway, so it was an easy transition to a full court press. It requires a different approach to coaching especially in the game, but it works! Especially if you have a smaller (but quicker) team. We ran a 1 2 2 press and this became a real offensive tool for us. Would recommend this to other coaches.
I just adjusted it from 40 minutes to 32 minutes took the percentage it was different. I am sure you can do that same thing adjusting from 40 to 28. I would mess around with the goals to fit your needs. Don't make them to low but make them attainable and see if you hit them it works. Hope that helps thanks for checking out the channel. Awesome video! I love the system but the one question I have is when you make substitutions every minute is it tough for the players to get in a rhythm? By the numbers I’d say I guess not but I’d like to hear your thoughts on that.
That is a common criticism of the system but there are players who play 18 minutes and average 25 plus a game. From all the coaches I have interviewed says it is an adjustment for players but they figure it out.
What videos do you want made to help you with learning the System?

My team ran a diamond and one press and ran the offensive system and we led our 8th grade league in scoring. We scored 90 twice.

Grinnell still does play that style.
JxmyHighRoller just published a video on July 27, 2023 discussing this college team.
Great video!
This system is great fun for the viewers. 👍
I think so too!

Whoops ....19 games of 20....
Awesome coach glad you had success playing the system.
Trying to do this for 7th grade team this year any guidance/drills would be appreciated! Thank you!
great system!
Mike D'antoni implemented a similar style in Houston.
Similar in terms of shooting 3's or layups I agree. I would love to see someone try the pressing aspect as well.
How about the scorers table - are they able to keep up - especially at away games?
What would the formula be for 7 minute quarters? Great video thanks.

Has anyone modified the formula for high school girls team?
Most coaches just take 20 percent of it off so 80 shots for the difference from 40 minutes to 32.
