    ...and - it will never be enough. This Highway will attract more cars and it soon will also be congested, requiring another and another super Highway. Look at Germany, which seems to have an insatiable demand for freeways, with desastrous effect for the Environment and the landscape.
    Railways are the future. Light and Long distance railways.

    • @blaqrose4832
      @blaqrose4832 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The railway is for movement of goods and to find a market for cars for economies that are not producing anything else right now. Why don't they build subway systems and fast commuter rail for general mwana inchi to get us around without increasing the carbon footprint via the expensive cars? Why are we still in matatatus? The restriction of immigration is to make sure people don't understand there are other alternatives. I wonder whether anyone has put thought into the maintenance of a highway from refuse/trash to potholes and accidents drunk driving hazards. Add on to that there is no safety at 3 am in the morning. This is cosmetic. And I am sad.

      ***** Cars and Roads are the oppisite to efficiency. Railways and good public transport are efficient and save resources, lives and Money...

      Already congested. Tramway and busway is the best option. Public transport must be done by the government like in the developed world.

    JK, I notice the tips of the guard rails in our country are left gaping and open to disaster. In other countries, every end of the guard rail is buried, or nailed to the ground, to avoid any vehicle running straight into it. I was drawn to this by the late Nyeri governor Gakuru's fatal accident. May he RIP. The contractors should go back and fix these very dangerous, accident in waiting incomplete work.

    For road vandalism and thefts of highway systems it be a good idea to setup highway police rapid response teams along the highways 24/7 to combat this and high penalties for anybody perpetrating these crimes because they endanger the people using the highway !

    AFDB propaganda. This is really sad. We know the only solution to traffic jams is transit and Thika Highway was built for cars not for transit which is how MOST people travel-they did not improve bus service or put in rail. Traffic jams are back. The designs are awful-traffic violence is very high so some call this the highway of death. Who hasn't heard of some horrible accident on this highway? Kenya can do MUCH better-improve and build highways but make sure the designs are good and transit and pedestrians are included.

    • @jstnshw7541
      @jstnshw7541 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hardly...the road design was very poor. The footbridges are now being redone-an admission by MOTI that they were poorly done and weren't even in the right places. Design matters a lot besides enforcement of traffic rules.

    I don't think it was a good idea constructing such a super highway if it's meant to make it easier for the people living in those area along the outskirt of the East African capital. I notice the woman speaking about the simplicity of her coastal dwelling. Her home is right on the coast, above sea level. However simple, what was she thinking? I will investigate the construction project to make sure it's not a hazard. For instance making sense of the reason people such as her dwell in it in the first place. If it was constructed by a Chinese construction company then perhaps, people need not stop and say it needs to be modernized to fit everyone's needs. I take it the government is just letting criminals out of prison to work at such places, the cars on the highway need to run better. Unlike previous traditional automobiles which were shabby and slow. It's the appearance of a poorly constructed Asian, African, un-european engineering project which had me concerned. It's a cheap hut the locals may leave her bankrupt. How much are we really wasting on construction? the environment? how much damage can someone's dwelling cost. What's the speed here? who is driving by there. Relax it's our way back to the cottage. We're trying to get out of debt sometimes people don't care about nice things all they want to do is drugs, sex and rock-'n'-roll. Faster internet connectivity, someone should include a rest area and road sign. Is the TV to blame? Should it cause trouble, maybe they need to focus on urban establishments offer better utilities. When your flying along the road your not so worried about the cost of things.
