Reading the arguments in the really annoyed me, it's either people complaining about how "boring" the set is, or people complaining about mainstream EDM. Am I the only one here who enjoys this type of music AND mainstream EDM? I don't like how people put themselves in box when it comes to music, it's like if you like if you like Techno then you can't like mainstream EDM, or if like Daft Punk or Aphex Twin you're not allowed to like Avicii. I'm not a Techno fan, I'm not a EDM fan, I'm just a music fan. Don't trap yourself in a box. Rant over.
Man seriously i really think like that too.. BUT, its not like putting yourself into a box the thing is that when you dig a bit more into the industry you start to understand certain things.. Im now studying audio engineering, and when you start to understand the PRODUCTION part of this, you notice most of the EDM "artists" are a bunch of crap.. WHY ? Well, its as easy as downloading a VENGEANCE pack sample, and compare it to what deadmau5 has at his back.. Thats not for making cooler the studio, its to make nearly every fucking sound he uses from 0.. The master is not an iZotope preset, the compressors are not the FL Studios compressors etc.. and that's not even the point.. do you really think the Animals track deserves all the money its taken ? And also 'cause its fuckin' inmoral.. how can you be proud of making all the bullshit comercial music ? i swear i wouldnt.. music deserves some respect and you need to decide if you're a business man or a producer..
i like trap music and only trap music. music is a trap. ... hahaha no really. Why is there such strong segregation between an individuals music taste. If its good its good. This is good. Great actually
thiisnewgenBIG I agree, most of the big EDM songs are made just to make a quick buck, but you can't just ignore all EDM songs, cause odds are there will be a song or 2 that you like. I'd be lying if I said I didn't like any EDM songs (Bigfoot by W&W is a guilty pleasure of mine)
mainstream "EDM" is (in my opinion) corny and lame as fuck. same shitty sounds with the same shitty builds and drops... sorry but it is. people really should broaden their music tastes and listen to some innovators in music who are trying to create their own sound and something new instead of copying what sells.. i'm not one to tell people what to do but you guys are missing out on some seriously good music... The Trilogy Tapes, Long Island Electrical Systems or Ostgut Ton are a few awesome labels to start with...
He plays these progressive sets all the time? When is the last time you saw him live. I saw him at Veld 2013 and his entire set was like this. Super progressive. It was just too progressive for me and my crew (we like to jump around a little bit more) But, most people should realize he is a progressive house/deep house producer.
@@CmanCorporations Really depends if you go see him on a festival or in a club, on a festival he gets way more melodical and that is for the larger audience. If you get him playing in a club in a big city, he gets mosh pits going...
There will be a breaking point in your life when all of a sudden you'll start liking this kind of music and will prefer it over the Beatport chart-topping big-room bangers(EDM). This is the point of entering the phase of music maturity.
I can side with this comment any day at any given time. Sure dubstep gets people moving, but the amount of pure energy and soul that goes into techno is so much more potent and positive in all aspects. My father took me to my first techno show at 10 years old (DEMF Detroit) and techno is the key.
He has a really good sound setup. I watched him even set it up, live. He's somewhere near Guelph, Ontario..big mansion w Kelly his wife, who is a Realtor/ Broker( I think?) And this room he works out of, is like totally sound-proofed.
Just saw Deadmau5 live here in AZ 2 days ago......amazing and what's even more amazing how much time and effort he puts in his work. Look at all that gear. Looking at all them patch cables makes me want to cry.
I think people start enjoying this "type" of EDM when they actually start to develop there tastes further into the genre as a whole. Sure i too am guilty of falling into the "mainstream hype" and becoming obsessed by artists like Avicii and SHM when progressive house hit the mainstream a few years ago. But i got bored and tired of that shit. I find Deadmau5' and other producers like him to be alot more tasteful. It is no longer just club music or festival music any more. Its music i can sit just listen to in the car or when i want to chill out.
It was dope sitting on the site & listening live while chatting with other mau5heads in the chat room. Really good diverse set with a more versatility than the average DJ these days. Love this.
I wish the music was what people were arguing about. Now we have peeps complaining about what equipment Joel uses. Odd. I'll never buy an album from one of those people because they'll never make one.
This set is Grooving with a capital G. I don't keep up with all the newest electronic music like I used to. But as time goes on, every time I check in on Mau5's latest productions. He always surprises with something different. And you have to respect the mans journey till this point. And he got big at the right time.
If deadmau5 goes to tech house- minimal I´ll really love it, or trance or if he keeps mainstream sounds, this guy is a genius in whatever genre, just listen his circa 1998-2002 album, he made some awesome trance and DnB tracks
dude no he doesn't. Listen to 38:40, he can't even mix correctly. To be a good DJ you need to know how to mix. This guy has survived his whole career by cheating. It shows in this mix. He is a fucking garbage DJ
He got me into the scene 5 years ago, seen him multiple times i cannot wait for Veld AP again. Such a legend. Can be at the top of an genre he decides.
Just after 6:30 is another amazing moment from the master craftsmen Named Joel! Hope to hear that as apart of a testpilot set one day. Love it when he gets into the music like that!
Amazing set. Also REALLY great quality capture (especially the audio). Nice work man. Sadly there's like a 100% chance they'll have this taken down eventually. I'm downloading while I can.
So he basically played 2 hrs of stuff like this on his after party at Emos after he finished ACL 2 days ago here in Austin TX. He played 5 of his fav hit songs and rest were like this
Yep, I like his shit if it wasn't off his albums....I love techno and shit. Other side of me is heavy rock. :P Techno / heavy rock same form of headbanging. Plus I hear Deadmau5 loves NIN. That's why he did a cover of one of NIN songs
fuck man i have a new respect for him. i never knew he can do this all live so amazing. deadmau5 new found respect for you music talent. this is on a different level than mainstream i like mainstream but this is even better!! make another mix!
finally some quality EDM, massive massive set by maus. It's hard to find music like this anymore, all you fucking hear is that bullshit pop pretending to be edm. Keep it up!
Wish he did more DJ set's. like he is reaaaally good. Reminds me of the top notch berlin techno DJ's, just with a mix of house in there. Really smooth.

Sick mix Joel, glad to see your joining the dark side. That RAR - The Tool w/ Deadmau5 - Secondary Complications w/ Deadmau5 - Sometimes Things Get, Whatever track is awesome!
That Whyt Noyz track is pretty slick. Solid deep-house inspired party tech shit. The whole set is a pretty good demonstration of what you can do with digital DJing... really curious what he's using behind the mixers.
I love this set, but I don't understand why people only likes techno when a guy like deadmau5 plays it. I mean, It's a great set, but when someone like Capriati or Richie Hawtin plays Techno all the people is like "OH SHIT THIS IS SOOOO BORING" but when is deadmau5 there's like 1424124421 fanboys out there calling him god. Thanks Kyler! Here's another rip of this set (extra 20 minutes or so) that also includes the setup session. deadmau5 Live set (+setup) from the studio 2014-04-05
Just a heads up guys, 37:00 to about 1:09:00 has screwed up audio. I accidentally had 2 windows opened. I seriously have no clue how it happened, I'm sorry for any inconveniences.
mValue1 Hes explicitly shown that he doesnt take any drugs. he tried weed once and had a bad trip, he hated it and has never touched them since. the only addiction he has is a bad cigarette addiction. thats about it.
I don't understand his setup... Anyone know more about it? Does he have the songs all ready in Ableton to launch then he fires them off and has the mixers for fades and effects? That even sounds too simple for him
How he does this : Ableton live clip launching i assume with his ni x1 controller which i think he has two of but i do notice that some times it even looks like he plays clips straight up with using the macbook mouse. He has a djm900 or similar mixer with efx section and filter of course. delay is the most used effect here for sure but alot of his efx are coming from the efx1000 where mau5 spends alof ot his time durring this set. Which i think he considers his unplugged set. mau5 also does alot of "fake knob twiddling" meaning nothing really h appens every time but you know what thats just him getting in the groove and feeling it out. Killn it with steeze these tracks are a perfect mix of tech , minimal and tribal beats.
distantb oh yes and i forgot the ipad which is in there doing some custom lemur app business. i assume a step sequencer. it sounds like he is sequencing his own drums and perc . similiar so dubfire . keep in mind the video is a we bit off time to the track playing.
This not House, it's Techno. He has began leaning towards Techno with his signing on to Ritchie Hawtins Label. I am glad he is moving this direction. Techno is going through a ressurgence If you like this here is one of my mixes. soundcloud.com/hushsh/hush-may-02-mix
The track ID for #5 is ZZT - SyZZTem 700 Bonus Beats ZZT - SyZZTem 700 Bonus Beats ... "74" is just Avaritia soundcloud.com/mau5trap/deadmau5-avaritia-preview ... Stimming - Melodica is wrong, it's 71c by deadmau5 Deadmau5 - 71c
I'm sorry but in my opinion this stuff is incredibly boring. Just because its not trendy or whatever doesn't mean it takes more talent to make this stuff. Just because its not trendy doesn't mean it doesn't sound the same as a bunch of other shit. Cause yeah apparently "real EDM" all sounds the same too. I got some respect though some of this stuff is rather hypnotic and atmospheric too and I KINDA get what you mean when you say real EDM. But at the end of the day nah...shits boring to me. See I used to do drugs and I think I might like this stuff more if I was on drugs...which is NOT a good point by any means just saying. But my god how depressing it would be if I only listened to this shit woooooooo man. I like underground shit too but.....idk this whole tracklist is boring. No need for anybody to tell me mainstream shit sucks. Theres alot of it I just love. This comment ain't even really about you. But yeah I run into these hipsters or whatever all like aw yeah man you need to listen to real EDM poser listening to all that mainstream stuff listen to some real EDM. Than when I listen to it I'm like damn you! This shit is fucking boring! WTF is wrong with you!
dwc311 While i somewhat agree with you this can be a bit boring,I vastly prefer this than hearing zomg facedrops every 45 seconds to 1 minute. I literally want to blow my head off when its that type of music.
"Real"? I would consider real edm anything that is produced via electronic means. But I do agree that this is wayyyy better than the crap people know as progressive and big room nowadays. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy techno, but it's not the only genre out there.
dwc311 I agree it's stupid to label anything "real edm", but man, I can't really wrap my head around how anyone finds this stuff boring. It's got tons of energy, just not in the same pattern as the mainstage stuff, where it builds up and explodes; this stuff is a constant stream of deep, dark, groovy energy that just flows through you.. deadmau5 definitely feels it, just look at his constant dancing. It takes a certain mindset to enjoy it, but it's faaaar from boring.
you can see joel's passion when he's playing techno.
Reading the arguments in the really annoyed me, it's either people complaining about how "boring" the set is, or people complaining about mainstream EDM.

shouldve been in miami when he played b2b with prydz
He has been playing stuff like this since like last summer. I saw him in Mexico some months ago and it was heavy on techno

just very standard modular synth set up. a lot of toys.

That moment when you hear avirita's work in progress @1:18:00:D
The Mau5 is a techno junkie now, love it. He's gotta get his skinny ass to NY and play a set at Output
Ssshhhhhh!!! ;)
@canmisir just drive up to when he plays at his hometown sets, when he plays in Toronto.
Just saw Deadmau5 live here in AZ 2 days ago......amazing and what's even more amazing how much time and effort he puts in his work. Look at all that gear. Looking at all them patch cables makes me want to cry.
Nice! I live in AZ too but I had to work. How was it?
I live in AZ too bro
NICE! how you liking the cold weather going right now???
Really nice
@BosstyGaming_YT amazing! It also blows my mind people still watch this video like 7 years later :D
Well played Joel, I love techno and tribal very much. Digging this mix so far. :)
Can see you're having a blast creating it as well, always important!
I love how he played some classics at the end. If only he did it live :D
i love when a mix makes me feel like im in a futuristic jungle boppin around

STIG Zero
I think wrong and right are two very relative and subjective concepts, hence we are all wrong AND right.....at the same time, yeah
metnak nek in this case, its "how does he do this?" which is a definite answer and isnt based off of subject.

Which i think he considers his unplugged set. mau5 also does alot of "fake knob twiddling" meaning nothing really h appens every time but you know what thats just him getting in the groove and feeling it out. Killn it with steeze these tracks are a perfect mix of tech , minimal and tribal beats.
distantb oh yes and i forgot the ipad which is in there doing some custom lemur app business. i assume a step sequencer. it sounds like he is sequencing his own drums and perc . similiar so dubfire . keep in mind the video is a we bit off time to the track playing.
you're back!
This mix almost instantly put me in a trance. What genre of house would most of this be considered?
Gracias.
This not House, it's Techno. He has began leaning towards Techno with his signing on to Ritchie Hawtins Label. I am glad he is moving this direction. Techno is going through a ressurgence
If you like this here is one of my mixes.

Deadmau5 is a legend at music producing, although I'm not fond of his personality, but that doesn't stop me from listening to his music!

The absolute best...still listening all the time✨
This is the real EDM. Learn kids.
WTF is wrong with you!
dwc311
While i somewhat agree with you this can be a bit boring,I vastly prefer this than hearing zomg facedrops every 45 seconds to 1 minute. I literally want to blow my head off when its that type of music.
dwc311 its boring to you bc u have no groove or soul...you just don't understand
Thanks for sharing. Last night I saw it, but I wanted to revive it. ^^
Hugs from Argentina.
Downloading it now! ♥
