I'm curious about William Skates. This is an unusual surname but one I am familiar with. I have limited information on this family. My great grandfather is Joseph Washington Skates 1873 -1957. Born in Atlanta Georgia. Died in Florida. I am wondering if there is a connection to your family. Any thoughts?

FYI: Munchkin is a very offensive term according to a family member who lives with dwarfism.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Sarah. We deeply value your feedback and the importance of being sensitive to language. In this presentation, the term 'Munchkin' was used to reference a cherished role that Johnnie Fern, a family member of the presenter, played in the original Wizard of Oz. For their family, this role is a significant part of their history. However, we fully understand that this term may be viewed differently by others and may cause offense. We sincerely apologize if this was the case and are committed to being more mindful in our future communications. We appreciate your understanding and input.
