I think a few of the people who criticize your vids don't fully understand that it's a commercial approach and you're not just shooting 5 gags to bring home. I'm a doctor and keen spearo in Perth, Australia, and the depths you dive to continue to astound me. 240 feet?!?! Can I ask if you've ever experienced decompression sickness and how strictly you follow your dive watch and/or safety stops before the surface? I might not have the full picture but even on your super deep dives I don't see a lot of long safety stops and it just amazes me how well the human body can adapt to it over the years! As far as the depths, I do edit out a lot of the ascent and deco time as it's usually boring and I didn't think people would enjoy it. I did get a bad case of DCS about 10 years ago but it was entirely my fault. Broke a couple of rules that I'd had in place for years and got punished for it. Nobodys fault but my own, you do stupid things, you risk bad results. Happy to say, no residual effects and all's good. Really appreciate your comments. Best, Dan

I'm not sure to be honest. Kevin Bruington developed that muzzle years ago when he was the USA Distributor for Sea Hornet. When he created Ocean Rhino, he quit producing that muzzle. I did have a local machine shop knock out some copies maybe 10 years ago, but that shop's long closed now. I would think any competent shop could CC out a few with minimal effort. I'm surprised somebody doesn't produce and sell them. Best, Dan

What level are you currently in your scuba certification? If your your open water just start diving more logging dives is essential to higher certification ! Im a tech diver/salvage! Dan is an incredible diver and great at this watch his videos watch when things get difficult he never gets worked up staying in control underwater at all times!
I am currently working on my dive master. Just haven’t been around any tech divers in my area to ask any question or know anyone that’s an instructor for it.

Keep logging dives, most instructors and dive shop ask you when becoming a dive master are there any other credentials you want or interested in, like deep dive,camera underwater filming etc..... look into tech and deep water learn your deco stuff be familiar with your gear always have a contengy plan if something goes wrong like an extra mounted tank for backup on deep dives . Try to get in on boat salvaging projects to get your foot in the door as tech . Best advice i have buddy
Oliver, I personally prefer the clarity and increased safety of Helium. Other people might have different opinions. Of course, Helium diving requires higher levels of training. Best, Dan
He uses a Russian military round in 7.62x54R rifle caliber . Those can be bought at auctions on-line or at Gun Shows . Some of the ammo in that Caliber in military style comes with sealed primers and sealed bullets , and those will make sure moisture never ruins your Powerheads .
Caji, well I like the long blades with the enclosed heels. Stiffer blades seem to be better when using them with Scuba Gear. One important thing is to properly pick your boot thickness so you can slide your feet into the fins without a lot of effort or time. EX: a 3mm thickness might be too loose and a 7mm thickness might be too tight, but a 5mm would be just right. Best, Dan

John, a light Nitrox mix. Also, that spot is like 105' on the top of the reef and 130' on the bottom. I tried to spend as much time near the top of the ledge as possible. That def helps with the bottom time. Best, Dan

What’s the purpose of killing the amberjack. At that size they are full of worms and aren’t that good to eat anyway. Disposable power heads aren’t needed. You can make the same thing with just a pvc pipe. Place a little epoxy in the end, about 1/4”. The giant hole kills them instantly.
Gene, that's not really accurate, The AJ's here in the Gulf are almost parasite free. Very very occasionally, I'll see a couple of parasites in the tail section but it's very rare. I've never heard about your PVC pipe idea. Sounds interesting but I think I'll stick to slip ons. Best, Dan

Those Freediving spearfishermen divers also must take their fish back up right away . If you want to play in the deeper end of the pool you need much more training and certifications , and also different stuff to breathe down there . They do not use oxygen in those tanks . These guys are just doing their job which is selecting certain fish to gather and take back to sell to their supplier , and EVERYTHING must be sold to that Supplier ( he can't keep any of the fish ) . This is not Sport Fishing . . . . . This is done under a Commercial License , and they gather certain fish for others to eat . The supplier sells fish to restaurants so there will be FRESH FISH on the menu when you show up with your family for Supper . These guys select certain types of fish , and Commercial guidelines restricts what size for what species , and also what amounts are allowed under Commercial License . They are normally fishing over 100 miles off-shore , and over 150 feet down , and those snorkel fellas won't or can't get down there .
